Legal Assistant
Job Description
LHH is seeking a dedicated and experienced Legal Assistant to provide comprehensive support to attorneys at a Chicago firm. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience supporting attorneys in a law firm setting
- Proficiency in MS Office, Zoom, Adobe, and Dropbox
- Experience with Perfect Law, M365, and other key legal applications
- E-filing experience in Federal and State courts, including Courts of Appeals
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent writing, proofreading, and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively across multiple cases and deadlines
- Team-oriented with a professional and positive demeanor
- Solid understanding of legal terminology and principles; knowledge of medical terminology a plus
- Skilled at analyzing and reviewing legal documents for accuracy and completeness
- Ability to work independently and manage assignments with limited supervision
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
Responsibilities
- Prepare and proofread legal documents and correspondence from draft to final form
- Reformat and finalize pleadings and other legal filings
- Manage attorney scheduling and calendaring, including court deadlines and client meetings
- Coordinate the preparation, filing, and service of pleadings and briefs
- Manage service of process, file documents with the court, and coordinate with local counsel as needed
- Maintain and organize electronic case files and ensure all documents are properly filed and accessible
- Prioritize and manage multiple cases and projects to meet deadlines efficiently
- Dictation using Speakeasy
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary range: $60,000 – $85,000 (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
