Primary and secondary inpatient health care are available to more than 287,000 veterans living in a 21-county area of the Central Piedmont Region of North Carolina.

This includes the Charlotte area with over 100,000 veterans, and the Winston-Salem area with 65,000 veterans.

In addition to our main facility in Salisbury, we offer services in three community-based outpatient clinics/health care centers.

Facility Address: 1601 Brenner Ave, Salisbury North Carolina, 28144 RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to) Shall perform Pulmonary services, to include providing Intensive Care/Critical Care services and inpatient/outpatient services for the Department of Veteran Affairs at the Shreveport location.

Shall perform procedures such as: thoracentesis, central line placement, arterial line placements, bronchoscopies, bedside bronchoscopies, intubation procedures, patient rounding, bedside echo, PFT interpretations.

Additional skill sets such as sleep study interpretations and EBUS procedures will be supported.

Shall provide inpatient consultation.

Pulmonologist(s) shall be available for consultative care 24/7 for all inpatient care.

The pulmonologist physician shall be reachable by pager or other telecommunication device(s), at the request of a referring physician, to discuss a patient's case to ensure the patient is seen in a timely fashion and to expedite any required care.

Shall provide on-call services.

Schedule of this TBD.

Shall provide review of consults and triaging daily.

Medications: Physician(s) shall follow all established medication policies and procedures.

Discharge education: Shall provide discharge education and follow-up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.

Shall provide post-procedure evaluation, follow-up and clinical consultation regarding complications of procedures.

Clinical Notes and Encounters: ALL notes and encounters must be completed in a prompt and timely fashion relative to the occurrence of the encounter.

Participate in mandatory VA training requirements, including Information Security, Privacy Training, and CPRS (computerized patient record system).

Shall be responsible for signing in and out when in attendance.

Time sheets will be used to confirm hours/day and services provided against the contractor's invoices.

Shall complete the appropriate QM/PI documentation pertaining to all procedures, complications, and outcome of examinations.

That physician shall be available to perform peer reviews.

REQUIREMENTS Must hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited graduate school of medicine.

Must have successfully completed an accredited residency and fellowship program.

Must be board certified or board eligible in Pulmonology.

Must have 3 years' experience as a Pulmonologist.

Must be in good standing, and under no restrictions, with the state licensure board in any state in which a license is held.

Must hold and maintain current certification in the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for healthcare providers.

Must be a US Citizen.

Must have an active DEA.

- The Vermont Veteran's Home The Vermont Veteran's Home is licensed to meet all levels of resident care needs.

The Home has a comprehensive rehabilitation department working closely with other departments to promote restorative care that maximizes residents' abilities.

Those services include short term and long-term care, attending to post-operative wounds, dispensing and monitoring intravenous medications, physical therapy, speech therapy that assists residents in reclaiming their ability to communicate and occupational therapy that helps residents become independent again.

The quality of this nursing care is consistently rated as one of the best in the country and is supervised by a registered nurse twenty-four hours a day, three hundred and sixty-five days a year.

The nursing staff provides necessary care with the residents' best interest in mind and taking personal preferences into account whenever possible.

"Sonny" Montgomery VAMC in Jackson, MS is a 150 bed tertiary care facility, with an additional 86 long term care beds with a Palliative Care Unite, three 150-bed State Veteran's nursing homes, and several ambulatory care clinics that provides care to over 45,000 Veterans.

This medical center provides primary, secondary, and tertiary medical, neurological, and mental health inpatient care.

Services include hemodialysis, hematology/oncology, sleep studies, substance abuse treatment, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment, and rehab programs.

The Pharmacy Service is involved with both primary care and specialized outpatient services including Hepatitis C treatment, Diabetes care, HIV treatment, and Erythropoietin Stimulating Agent management.

Comprehensive health care is available for female veteran patients within the medical center, as well as a 24-hour emergency room department.

REQUIREMENTS The scope of privileges for a Physician Extender working in Flight Medicine includes the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and consultation on an outpatient basis of aircrew and special operators.

Physician Extenders are responsible for identification and prevention of various adverse physiological responses to hostile biologic and physical stresses encountered in the aerospace environment, performance of special operational evaluations, evaluation and initial management of decompression illness, and application of operational medicine education to individuals and groups under their care.

Flight Medicine Physician Extenders may assess, stabilize, and prepare patients with stable or emergent conditions for aeromedical transport, consistent with medical staff policy.

QUALIFICATIONS Must possess a minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited university within respective profession.

Shall possess current Board Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Must have at least one (1) year experience of routinely practicing as a Physician Assistant.

Must have and maintain a current, active, valid unrestricted state license to practice medicine in one of the 50 states in the United States, or the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S.

Virgin Islands, as required obtaining or renewing a DEA registration number under the then effective DEA rules.

Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
