Our client, a leading provider of optical products, services, and practice‑growth solutions, is seeking a field‑based Optical Sales Executive to oversee and expand a key territory in the Nashville region. This role requires a strong consultative salesperson who can build deep relationships with Eye Care Professionals and strategically develop a high‑value territory.


The Optical Sales Executive will represent a comprehensive portfolio including contact lenses, optical lab services, and business solutions designed to help Eye Care Practices strengthen their operations, profitability, and patient offerings.


This is an outside sales position requiring daily, in‑person customer visits throughout the Nashville area, with approximately 30% overnight travel. Candidates must live within the territory.


Essential Responsibilities


Sales & Revenue Responsibility

  • Achieve quarterly sales goals through a consultative, solutions‑focused approach.
  • Manage a large book of existing accounts, including key high‑value practices.
  • Grow revenue through cross‑selling across multiple product categories and identifying new business opportunities through targeted outreach and cold calling.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews with each account to assess needs, introduce new products and services, and support practice growth.


Account Management & Relationship Building

  • Develop strong, service‑oriented relationships with Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Opticians, and their teams.
  • Provide product and service training to practice staff when needed.
  • Work collaboratively with representatives from major contact lens and optical lab manufacturers to identify mutual opportunities and strengthen account partnerships.
  • Maintain consistent communication with accounts based on account priority and territory strategy.


Territory Strategy & Execution

  • Build and execute a quarterly territory business plan, including zoning, call planning, and sales activity strategies.
  • Review sales data regularly to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for growth.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with Eye Care Professionals and office decision makers based on business priorities.
  • Follow up promptly on all leads (within 24–48 hours) and maintain detailed documentation of interactions.


Internal Collaboration & Reporting

  • Collaborate with internal partners across operations, customer service, and business solutions to support customer needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer activity and pipeline development in the company CRM system.
  • Provide biweekly updates to sales leadership regarding territory performance, challenges, and key account status.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development.


Industry Involvement

  • Attend local, regional, and national industry events, meetings, and conferences as required.


Qualifications


Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of B2B field sales experience, or 3 years of sales‑driven experience within an optical or eyecare retail environment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and general PC applications.
  • Experience using CRM platforms such as HubSpot or Salesforce.
  • Ability to travel overnight 30–50% as required.
  • Must reside in the Nashville territory and be available for daily in‑person visits.


Preferred

  • Experience selling to Eye Care Professionals such as Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, and Opticians.
  • Experience working with or selling contact lenses, frames, eyeglass lenses, or other optical products.
  • Previous work experience as an optician or within an optical/eyecare practice.
  • Territory management experience with a sales quota (3+ years).
  • Demonstrated success in prior sales roles, including recognition, achievements, or promotions.

  • Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems and CPT coding is advantageous.

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and infection control practices.
