Duties and Responsibilities

Typical assignments include:
- Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and custom laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
- Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions to include using infrared scopes during night operations
- Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband
- Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks
- Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles for the accomplishment of the USBP Mission.
Qualifications
You qualify for the GL-5 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One (1) year of general work experience that demonstrates the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through classroom training and/or on-the-job instruction; and the ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and examination of documents and records; OR
Education Substitution: A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR
Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of general work experience AND successfully completed college education. This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.
You qualify for the GL-7 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One year of specialized work experience that shows you have the skills necessary to:
- Make sound judgments and decisions in the use of firearms.
- Deal effectively with people in a courteous and tactful manner in connection with law enforcement matters.
- Analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions where you will be expected to make arrests after the completion of required training and apply these skills in a law enforcement capacity such as criminal code enforcement, determining violations of laws, correctional or rehabilitation work involving criminal offenders, security, military, etc.
The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with people in a courteous manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions; or develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.
Education Substitution for the GL-7 grade level: A bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average (i.e., GPA of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0), or (3) honor society membership. Or will receive a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. Or one full year of graduate-level education in a field of study related to law enforcement (e.g., criminal justice, homeland security, justice studies, law enforcement, courts and judicial systems, forensic technology, forensic psychology, or corrections and rehabilitation) from an accredited college or university; OR
A Combination of Experience and Education: This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.

Other Requirements

As a Pipe Journeyman, you will perform pipefitting and pipe welding on commercial and industrial construction projects in the Mobile, AL area. Ability to travel, as needed, for projects
Job Duties
- Lay-out, install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment
- Duties include pipefitting, pipe welding and installation of pipe hangers and related materials
- Ability to work with carbon steel, copper, iron, stainless steel, etc. piping ranging in size up to 10 inches
- Plan installation and repairs to avoid obstructions
- Ability to cut, thread, bend and weld pipe as required by specifications using saws, cutting torches, pipe cutting machines, threading machines, bending tools and machines, and welding torches
- Installation of chilled, hot and steam piping
- Installation of valves, hangers, supports, and flanges inside HVAC piping systems
- Secure pipe to structures with hangers, brackets, and clamps using hand and power tools
- Prepare pipe and fittings for hoisting and rigging
- Able to work off ladders, man lifts and other equipment from various heights
- Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience working with HVAC piping installation preferred
- 6G certification required
- Experience installing chillers, boilers, and cooling towers
- Experience installing chilled, hot and steam piping
- Familiarity with blueprint, schematic, drawing, and other equipment layout materials
- Experience leading/coaching an Apprentice
- OSHA 10 certification preferred (company will provide if needed)

Create detailed 2D piping plans, sections, and isometrics using software like AutoCAD.
Develop and update piping & instrumentation diagrams and line lists.
Build CAD models for equipment and new piping systems based on field measurements.
Prepare, transmit and expedite shop drawings, catalog cuts, samples and other submittals for approval. Maintain logs for all.
Coordinate design activities with the project management team to resolve layout conflicts.
Prepare construction document packages.
Conduct QA/QC reviews of all drawings to ensure technical accuracy and code compliance.
Perform field surveys, including manual dimensions, to gather data on existing site conditions.
Provide technical support to construction personnel and fabricators during installation.
Assist in preparing material takeoffs (MTOs) and bill of material (BOM) estimates for procurement.
Helps track project schedules, budgets, and change orders.
Required Skills
Associates in Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. With 3–5+ years in piping design or mechanical construction.
Mastery of AutoCAD and 3D modeling software.
Knowledge of SpoolFab Piping Software is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) for reporting and documentation.
Strong understanding of industrial piping codes (e.g., ASME, API) and material specifications.

We are currently looking for a Pipe Welder Shop to join our dynamic, fast-paced, and growing team. The Welder is responsible for the prep, layout, tack, weld, test, complex pipe spools and complex piping systems to work packages, drawings, PI&Ds per ASME B31.1 and MIL TP278, to production schedule under the guidance of the shop superintendent.
What You Will Be Doing
- Perform pipe welding with pipe fitting experience using knowledge of codes and specifications
- Reads and deciphers work packages, work scope, engineered drawings, and PI&Ds
- Works with the pipe shop group with a focus on quality, customer compliance, and schedule
- Assemble piping spools, weld, test, and assure all shop packages are complete, and work is compliant before presenting to QA
- Assures welding equipment is in good working condition and reports any malfunctions or maintenance needed
- Have all personal gear to perform pipe welding and fitting including welding gear, measuring devices, levels square, etc. maintained in good condition
- Additional duties as assigned
Your Background
- High school Graduate, related to Trade school and no less than 5 years work history/experience in this industry required
- Have experience in GTAW processes. Must qualify to Pipe in the 6-G position Per ASME Section IX using the GTAW process. Experience in structural welding using GMAW in various positions to AWS D1.1. Proven past welding qualification history is a plus
- Decipher welding symbols, reads, and follows work packages, drawings, PI&Ds, and blueprints
- Use various measuring equipment
- Full range of mechanical knowledge as well as the ability to fabricate and install piping on equipment as specified on drawings and PI&Ds
- 5+ years of experience
- Able to work in a team environment and self-motivated.
- US Citizenship required
- Able to work overtime when needed
- Have all the necessary hand tools to perform their discipline and maintain in good working order

The Welder I is responsible for assembly, tack and Mig welding of iso-bend pipe, fittings, and special products to engineering and customer supplied specifications.
Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):
- Visually inspect all components prior to assembly for compliance to work order specifications, and for burrs, defects, and cleanliness.
- Calculate the cut length of iso-bend pipe to achieve the correct finish length and mark the cut-off points.
- Secure iso-bend pipe and cut to length with pipe cutting tool.
- Set-up pipes sever machine and cut pipe to length without cutting the liner.
- Install the correct flange/stub end combination and weld pipe housing in accordance with manufacturing and customer supplied specifications.
- Recheck overall spool length with allowance for liner thickness and complete the inspection sheet.
- Assemble and tack weld fitting and special products using a press or other appropriate tooling.
- Weld fittings and special products complete in accordance with manufacturing and customer supplied specifications.
- Perform all welding in the position as specified by the Procedure and welder qualification.
- Set-up welders with correct filler wire and compressed gas at the proper pressure setting.
- When required, assemble, tack and tig weld fittings in accordance with manufacturing procedures.
- Use blueprint reading skills to interpret engineering or customer supplied drawings and specifications.
- Use ability to read measuring instruments not limited to, but including tape measure, micrometers, and calipers.
- Verify protective shield and restricted area signs are in place before welding.
- Perform material handling functions using hand trucks and carts.
Essential Qualifications / Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance, any parts weighing over 50lbs requires a team lift.
- Fabrication experience and the ability to work from blueprints and sketches.
- Must pass Crane welding qualifications test, which includes a plate test (fillit welds) on an 8-inch coupon, schedule 40 pipe, open root, 3 passes (root downhill, hot pass uphill, cover pass uphill, and must pass X-ray requirements.
Preferred Qualifications / Experience:
- Five or more years welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
- ASME Section IX MIG certification or be able to obtain certification within a reasonable period.
- Three or more years' experience with carbon steel.

Key Responsibilities:
- Produce 2D/3D piping layouts, isometrics, and spool drawings
- Work in AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, and ReCap with point‑cloud data
- Interpret P&IDs, drawings, surveys, and laser scans
- Conduct field walkdowns and measurements
- Ensure design accuracy, quality checks, BOMs, and line list support
- Coordinate with structural, mechanical & civil teams
Requirements:
- 5–20 years of piping design experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks, ReCap
- Strong understanding of piping materials, valves & ASME standards
- Experience with industrial, refinery, chemical, or heavy‑manufacturing facilities
Ability to work onsite for field validation
Purpose:
Colonna's Shipyard is seeking a 1st Class Pipe Welder to support 2nd shift operations in our Shipyard in Norfolk, VA.
Job Description:
- Weld together metal components of products, as specified by layout, blueprints, diagram, work order, welding procedures, or oral instructions, using electric arc-welding equipment.
- Select and execute best method to prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter and to clean, degrease, deoxidize, or desmut weld joint or work piece, using wire brush, portable grinder, or solvent clean/chemical bath
- Weld completion in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions for at least three base materials using a wide variety of processes.
- Fabricate brackets, panels, complex beams and shape structures.
- Plumb transverse bulkheads and panels to fabricate enclosures, complex weldments, shapes, plates, simple and complex parts from a drawing or sketch.
- Operate and set up of the following equipment; hydraulic jacks and pumps, chain falls, come a longs, Steamboat Ratchets, and slings.
- Expertly repair base metal products and completed welds by adding the minimum amount of weld metal or heat and the minimum amount of grinding/smoothing to meet job specification.
- Also perform air-arc back gouging and oxy-acetylene torching (e.g. brazing, cutting, or pre-heating), GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding), and pipe welding, pipe flange and socket welding; as well as qualify to perform either flux cored inner shield welding, weld overlay cladding, automated back gouging, plasma back gouging or any combination thereof.
- Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required and always mark completed welds with welder number.
- Perform single pass 5/16-inch minimum fillet welds in all positions using FCAW on carbon steel and at least -inch single-pass fillets on two other materials.
- Supervise set up to perform welding in accordance with applicable WPS all welding equipment such as: wire feeders, Sub-arc tractors, Bug O's, Power sources, etc.
- Clean torches and connect/lay-out cables and whips to optimize performance and perform routine maintenance on all equipment.
- Recommend WPSs and WPS upgrades required for a job; when assigned, produces or supervises production, documentation, and testing of PQRs and WPQs.
- Reliable, leads by example; trains less-killed welders, enforces good workmanship and safe welding practices throughout the work area; identifies gaps in weld process controls and weld process surveillance inspections and recommends corrective action.
- Perform comprehensive workmanship inspection, and when directed those of others, of all welds grinding and joint preparation for NDT processes as applicable; observe QA/NDT hold points as applicable.
- Complete standard dimensional computations/ Devise bracing and weld sequencing steps to maintain tolerances and minimize distortions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must have at least seven (7) years of Pipe Welding experience.
- Must have experience working in physically demanding environments.
- Must have at least 3 years of experience using SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) or Gas Tungsten Arc (GTAW) welding.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prefer certifications in all positions using the SMAW and GTAW welding processes.
- Prefer the ability to fuse inserts and weld carbon steel, stainless steel and copper nickel pipe using the SMAW and GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) processes.
Security Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain access to government installations (DBIDS).
Travel Requirements:
- Minimal Travel; 10% or less.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 20 lbs.
- Must be physically agile to perform tasks in naval ships. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces, including enter and moving through manholes.
- May ride ships at sea for extended periods
- Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
- Frequent exposure to noise due to machinery and equipment.
- Employee is required to operate trucks, forklifts & man-lifts.
- While performing the duties of this job, you may frequently be required to stand, walk & sit; use hands or fingers; handle or feel; talk and hear. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, squat, kneel, twist and crawl.

We are seeking a highly skilled, technically proficient and detail-oriented Principal Mechanical Engineer with expertise in metal structures, frame design, pipes and fabrication to support the development of power and cooling infrastructure for data centers. This role is critical in designing robust mechanical systems that house and support electrical and thermal management equipment, ensuring structural integrity, manufacturability, and compliance with industry standards.
What will you do?
- Experience designing and integrating hydronic systems including pumps, piping networks, valves, and heat exchangers for data center cooling applications.
- Knowledge of fluid dynamics, pressure drop calculations, and pipe sizing for chilled water and glycol-based systems.
- Understanding of installation constraints, maintenance access, and serviceability in large-scale mechanical infrastructure.
- Design and develop mechanical frames, enclosures, and support structures for data center power and cooling products (UPS systems, battery racks, CRAC units, containment systems, LVS, MVS).
- Perform advanced structural analysis using FEA tools to validate mechanical integrity under static, dynamic, seismic, and thermal loads.
- Analyze load paths, stress concentrations, and fatigue life of structural components to ensure long-term reliability.
- Design metal enclosures with considerations for airflow, thermal containment, EMI shielding, and environmental protection.
- Evaluate and implement new materials, coatings, and fabrication technologies to enhance product performance and reliability.
- Participate in customer engagements and site visits to understand deployment constraints and gather feedback for design improvements.
- Create detailed CAD models and fabrication drawings, including weldments, sheet metal, and machined parts
- Select appropriate materials and fabrication methods to optimize cost, performance, and reliability
- Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and systems engineering teams to integrate mechanical designs with functional components.
- Lead mechanical design reviews and contribute to cross-functional design validation efforts.
- Develop and maintain design documentation including BOMs, specifications, test plans, and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Drive continuous improvement in mechanical design for manufacturability (DFM), cost reduction, and performance optimization.
- Interface with suppliers and customers to resolve fabrication issues and ensure quality standards are met.
- Support lifecycle management of mechanical components, including obsolescence planning and alternate sourcing.
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for mechanical failures or field issues.
- Ensure mechanical designs support airflow management, thermal containment, and integration with cooling systems (in-row cooling, rear door heat exchangers).
- Collaborate with compliance and certification teams to ensure mechanical designs meet global regulatory requirements (UL, CE, RoHS, REACH)

Education:

Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design and fabrication, preferably in data center, industrial, or power systems environment.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor) and FEA software (ANSYS, Abaqus).
- Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes including welding, sheet metal forming, and machining is a must
- Experience with structural design for heavy equipment or large assemblies, and familiarity with thermal and airflow considerations in enclosure design is required
