Job Summary
Position responsible for the evaluation and rehabilitation of patients of all ages with communication and oral-pharyngeal disorders of functional or neurological origin, in order to facilitate the development and maintenance of human communication and swallowing ability. Documents findings, progress and instruction to patients and caregivers. May assist Level II or III speech pathologists with program development. Education: Graduate degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited university-based speech/language pathology program
Licenses/Certifications:
Current license to practice speech/language pathology by the State Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology for Texas
Current certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, preferred
Current certification in Basic Life Support
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
The position requires occasional lifting and carrying of up to 30 pounds; prolonged standing; frequent walking, stooping and squatting
Fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, the ability to receive oral and written communication, and to communicate verbally and in writing are also necessary
The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors and observe physical characteristics are essential to this position
Principal Accountabilities
Assumes responsibility in the care of the patient. Performs complete, comprehensive evaluation of patients with a physician’s referral.
Accurately interprets evaluation findings. Completes a written plan of care, develops goals based on evaluation findings, and develops a comprehensive program to attain goals.
Implements a speech/language pathology treatment program. Re-assess patient status and alters treatment goals, plan, and program as needed.
Communicates effectively with patient and family.
Communicates effectively with professional colleagues.
Manages time effectively.
Presents relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings and meetings as delegated or requested by the faculty.
Documents appropriately in the medical record and completes other documentation duties accurately and efficiently.
May serve as Clinical Instructor for Speech interns.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

Design and implement interprofessional IPE Passport to meet accreditation standards across Health Sciences programs:
- Manage CIPER's interprofessional education learning portfolio on the Omaha campus working collaboratively with other CIPER staff in designing and implementing a menu of interprofessional learning activities including but not limited to interprofessional simulation, interprofessional case studies, etc.
- Working directly with IPE Passport Co-Directors - Create, cultivate and assess assigned interprofessional IPE Passport activities within portfolio -
- Manage the online volunteer management Software program for student registration for assigned IPE Passport activities
- Create assigned IPE Passport activity specific communication artifacts, negotiate engagement logistics and resources
Communication and Relationship Building
- Communicate with interprofessional staff and faculty to build relationships that facilitate learning
- Foster positive and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with interprofessional and interdisciplinary teams to facilitate interactions and resolve conflicts
Database reporting
- Supervise aspects of CIPER's tracking, reporting, and quality assurance for the assigned IPE Passport activities database
- Extract, analyze, and summarize data from various sources using tools such as Qualtrics, Excel, or specialized reporting software
- Communicate or present assessment data so as to contribute to informed strategic planning
Implement special IPE projects as assigned by CIPER Leadership Team
