Job Summary The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Utah seeks qualified, boarded Physician Assistants to join our growing practice.
As the only academic medical center in the Intermountain West, we perform the entire gamut of cardiothoracic surgery (nearly 1000 cases/year) including a large program in advanced heart failure, mechanical support, and thoracic transplantation.

- As a part time position, minimum commitment is 20 hours/week

- Occasional opportunity to be first assist on an ortho trauma surgical case; however, this is NOT a surgical based position
The ideal candidate will have current APP, ortho trauma experience and/or successfully completed a training rotation with experience in ortho trauma surgery.

Intermountain Health is seeking a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a team of experienced Critical Care providers to work in the state-of-the-art facility at McKay-Dee Hospital, a 324-bed level II Certified Stroke Center.
You can anticipate working in shared-services CU as a member of a multi-disciplinary team supporting advanced therapies for complex critically ill patients. The Critical Care team is made up of 12 physicians and 3 APPs.
In this role you can anticipate:
- Practicing at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah
- 26-bed adult mixed medical/surgical ICU, caring for general surgery, trauma (Level II ASC Trauma Hospital Accreditation), cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, and medical patients
- 24/7 in-house ICU coverage, including a mix of days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- 10.5-hour day-shifts, 14.5-hour night-shifts
- No call expectation
- Shared-services model; working in collaboration with intensivists
- Including relocation assistance if relocating 50+ miles
An ideal candidate will have ICU experience and/or APP experience.

Job Description:
This position is accountable for the provision of patient care and other duties as permitted by licensure and defined within Credentialing and Privileging documentation (hospital), Credentialing and Scope of Practice (Medical Group), Collaboration Agreement and/or other similar documentation as appropriate.
Essential Functions
Clinical Practice:
- Perform appropriate history, physical examination, and diagnostic approach to ensure proper and complete care of the patient across the lifespan.
- Interpret patient care tests and exams to obtain needed information to guide care.
- Provide for the treatment of the patient?s physical health and mental well-being (and oversee the treatment provided by others) including appropriate prescriptive practice to achieve optimal clinical outcomes for the patient.
- Engage in patient-focused, team-based, multi-specialty collaboration.

- Attendance of monthly meetings and education sessions to aid in professional development and optimal patient care outcomes.
- Play an active role in mentoring students and the onboarding process of new staff members, including nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Education:

Minimum Qualifications
- Current state license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
OR
- Current state license as a Physician Assistant
- Current certification from a recognized certifying organization such as the National Commission of Physician Assistants.
AND
- Applicable experience as defined by position leadership
AND
- Eligible for State Controlled Substance License II through V.
- Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V.
- BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers.
- Other certification as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP).
- Current certification from a recognized certifying organization such as the NCCPA for physician assistants or the ANCC or AANP for nurse practitioners.

- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.).
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct client consultations in both English and Spanish
- Manage a caseload that includes family-based petitions, removal defense, asylum, and naturalization
- Prepare and review immigration filings
- Represent clients in court and at USCIS interviews
- Draft legal documents (affidavits, motions, briefs)
- Communicate with clients and team members clearly and compassionately
- Stay current on immigration law updates and procedures
- JD from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing with any U.S. state bar
- Fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken)
- Immigration law experience preferred (3+ years), but we'll train the right person
- Must be eligible to work in-office in Lehi, Utah
- Strong communication, organization, and empathy
