Position description

The School of Information at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a pool of part-time, non-tenure track lecturers to teach online courses in the Master of Information and Cybersecurity (MICS) program. We seek exceptional instructors with professional and/or academic expertise who can lead small, highly interactive sections of about 15 graduate students in this cutting-edge, online program.



Courses in the MICS program are pre-designed and structured, allowing instructors to focus on delivering dynamic and engaging learning experiences while bringing valuable expertise to advance student outcomes. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as the program evolves. The number of available positions may vary by semester based on the School's requirements.

Position Summary
The Judicial Commissioner is responsible for legal work associated with Circuit, General Sessions, and Juvenile Court operations in Sevier County. Primary areas of responsibility include determining probable cause for the issuance of arrest warrants, search warrants, failure to appear warrants, summons, juvenile criminal petitions, orders of protection, and emergency removal orders for dependent and neglected children. Additional duties involve conducting initial appearances for individuals in custody, interacting with court officers and law enforcement personnel, ensuring sufficient evidence for issuing warrants or citations, and verifying the correct TCA codes on legal documents. Job performance for this position will be evaluated by the Administrative Judicial Commissioner, the Director of Judicial Commissioners, and the General Sessions Judge(s). Evaluations are based on knowledge of legal proceedings, efficiency of court operations, ability to interact with law enforcement personnel, defendants, attorneys, and the public, as well as organizational and decision-making skills and understanding of legal procedures and protocols.
Essential Duties
  • Follows established operational policies and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of legal services for General Sessions, Circuit, and Juvenile Courts.
  • Makes independent, neutral, and detached decisions in accordance with legal standards.
  • Issues warrants for individuals suspected of criminal activity within Sevier County.
  • Ensures compliance with established legal standards and procedures for the issuance of warrants, summons, search warrants, orders of protection, and other legal documents.
  • Conducts initial appearance duties, including advising defendants of charges, setting arraignment dates, establishing bail, ordering conditions of release, issuing orders granting bail, GPS and bond conditions per Tennessee Code Annotated.
  • Issues ex-parte orders of protection and petitions for orders of protection.
  • Performs Initial Appearances within the secured area of the jail, ensuring compliance with legal standards while maintaining professionalism in an environment that may involve exposure to profane language, violent outbursts, and yelling.
  • Interacts with mentally ill defendants, employing de-escalation techniques, patience, and sound judgment to address their unique needs while upholding judicial procedures.
  • Transfers summons, warrants, and orders of protection to the appropriate department or agency.
  • Signs warrants on behalf of federal magistrates under Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure (Rules 3,4, and 5) when a federal magistrate is unavailable.
  • Issues juvenile petitions for criminal charges and conduct initial appearances for juveniles in custody, including setting bail and issuing appropriate orders.
  • Logs, maintains, and updates records of warrants and other legal documents issued.
  • Attends required training with the Judicial Commissioners Association of Tennessee to stay current on proposed and enacted legislation relevant to the role (Minimum of 12 hours annually).

Required:
  • Annual appointment to the position by the Sevier County Board of Commissioners.

Position description

The Department of Music at the University of California, Berkeley, is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach a range of performance courses in the Music Department.



These courses include, but not limited to the following:



Music 141 "University Symphony Orchestra"

Music 143 "Gospel Chorus"

Music 144 "University Chorus"

Music 145 "University Chamber Chorus"

Music 149 "University Baroque Ensemble"



Music 141: UCB Symphony Orchestra rehearses twice per week and performs six times per semester.



Music 143: Focuses on the performance of choral music of the African American gospel music tradition with a particular emphasis on contemporary performance techniques. The Gospel Chorus, as is the case with other formal University music performance ensembles, will prepare music to be presented to the public in at least two concerts each semester. Students will be selected for the chorus on the basis of individual auditions.



Music 144: Performs music primarily from the 17th to the 20th centuries including works for chorus and orchestra.



Music 145: A smaller mixed chorus that aims at a professional standard of ensemble singing and explores the lesser-known choral repertory.



Music 149: The performance of Renaissance and Baroque music for voices and instruments.



In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and interacting with students outside of class time via email and/or bCourses. Some courses may require supervision of discussion sections taught by graduate students.

JOB SUMMARY

The Fire Services Director (“Director”) reports to the Commissioners Court and receives day-to-day direction from the County Judge. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Monitors expense, approves needed funds, and plans for budget purposes.

  13. Prepares and delivers presentations to Court, departmental leadership, advisory boards, civic organizations, and the general public, including presentations on fire prevention, arson investigation, and emergency management programs as needed or requested. Job Summary:

Job Overview

The Compliance Counsel will play a critical role in supporting the legal and regulatory integrity of the company’s U.S. operations. The role will focus on monitoring and analyzing legislative and regulatory developments, supporting trade compliance and tariff management, and advising internal stakeholders on compliance risks and best practices. This attorney will serve as a resource to the legal and business teams and will be expected to collaborate cross-functionally with operations, logistics, supply chain, government affairs, and global compliance teams.

This is not a lobbying role; however, the successful candidate must be highly attuned to evolving legal landscapes, especially in the areas of import/export controls, trade regulations, industrial policy, environmental law, and energy regulation.


Key Responsibilities

Regulatory and Legislative Monitoring

  • Track, analyze, and summarize relevant federal and state legislative and regulatory developments affecting the battery manufacturing, EV, and energy storage sectors.
  • Prepare regular updates and risk assessments for internal stakeholders, including the Head of Legal, U.S., and business unit leaders.
  • Collaborate with government affairs and external advisors to ensure accurate monitoring and understanding of evolving U.S. regulatory priorities (e.g., DOE, EPA, DOT, FERC, CFIUS, USITC, CBP, USTR).

Trade Compliance and Tariff Management

  • Advise on U.S. import/export laws and regulations, including compliance with:
  • Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
  • International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Customs regulations administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
  • Tariff classification and country-of-origin rules
  • Monitor and interpret trade remedies and actions such as Section 301 tariffs, AD/CVD duties, and Section 232 measures.
  • Provide legal support for the preparation and maintenance of product classifications, license applications, voluntary disclosures, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Support the company’s participation in the U.S. regulatory processes related to tariffs, including exclusion requests and enforcement proceedings.

Compliance Program Development

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and refining the company’s U.S. compliance policies and procedures in alignment with global compliance standards and U.S. legal requirements.
  • Conduct internal training and awareness programs on relevant compliance topics, such as anti-corruption, sanctions, supply chain transparency, and trade compliance.
  • Partner with internal audit and other functions to conduct periodic compliance reviews and investigations.
  • Monitor and advise on antitrust and competition law issues, including pricing practices, distribution arrangements, joint ventures, and interactions with competitors, to ensure compliance with U.S. federal and state antitrust laws (e.g., Sherman Act, Clayton Act, FTC Act). Provide training and guidance to business units to mitigate antitrust risks.

Cross-Functional Legal Support

  • Serve as a legal advisor to cross-functional teams on compliance-related issues that intersect with commercial agreements, procurement, operations, logistics, and regulatory filings.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel and advisors on complex trade or regulatory matters.
  • Work with global colleagues to harmonize compliance practices and ensure consistent interpretation of global regulatory obligations.


Minimum Qualifications

Education and Licensure

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar (with ability to qualify under Michigan in-house counsel rules).

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience practicing law, including at least 3 years of in-house or law firm experience with a focus on compliance, trade law, or regulatory law.
  • Prior experience advising manufacturing clients or clients in the energy or automotive sectors is strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. trade laws, customs procedures, and industrial policy instruments (e.g., Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS Act, Buy American Act).
  • Experience advising clients on compliance with export control regulations and sanctions laws.

The facility offers 24/7 neonatology coverage, OB/GYN hospitalists, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, lactation consultants, and a midwifery program. It is part of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network and TexasAIM, and it also provides a high-risk pregnancy navigation and support program.

St. David's Surgical Hospital is part of St. David’s North Austin Medical Center and is the first Level 4 Epilepsy Center in Central Texas for both adults and children. It has its own 24-hour emergency department, a medical-surgical inpatient unit, and a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) for patients ages 17 and under. The hospital is staffed with pediatric emergency physicians, pediatric hospitalists, intensivists, and other specialists who are specially trained to care for children. It also includes certified child-life specialists who help kids feel more comfortable during their hospital stay. St. David’s Children’s Hospital offers many pediatric services, such as pediatric surgery, pediatric radiology (including imaging and interventional procedures), and pediatric anesthesia for surgical support. It also has a wide range of pediatric specialists available for consultation and treatment, including general surgery, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), craniofacial and plastic surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, urology, and cardiology, among others.
