System Transfer Center RN, Nights

Position Purpose:

In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors the registered nurse of the system transfer center should accurately listen and respond appropriately to requests made by transferring physicians, hospitals, and peers. To ensure patients are assigned rooms in an expedient manner, this position will utilize all critical resources within the organization to expedite this process. This position should give high priority to customer service and complete customer satisfaction. This position must ensure all paperwork and computer entry is checked for accuracy and continually enhances their knowledge regarding processes. This position will coordinate the successful transfer and placement of patients entering via the Transfer Center access. This position will effectively communicate with the surgery department, emergency department, nursing units, physician offices, bed schedulers, and outlying facilities to ensure appropriate placement of patients in a timely manner. This position must be able to adjust through a rapidly changing environment. This position will participate in personal and professional growth, development, and continuous improvement in all critical success factors of people, service, quality, financial, and growth. This position will be required to work weekends, holidays, and be on call as scheduled. The registered nurse collaborates in the spirit of teamwork is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of Mount Carmel Health System.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Education: BSN degree preferred
• Licensure / Certification: Licensed as an RN in state of Ohio
• Experience: Minimum 5 years nursing experience, 2 years critical care experience preferred.

Security Guards are responsible for conducting a variety of security-related duties and must be familiar with current federal and state laws, and USCG policies, practices, and standard operating procedures. Security Guards are responsible for controlling entry/exit posts; roving patrols; control, issuance, and storage of keys; alarm and fire system monitoring; enforcing building rules and regulations; prohibiting unauthorized access; responding to incidents, accidents, injuries, and/or illnesses; and other additional duties as required by supervision/management.

Security Guard is able to perform a variety of fixed-post, mobile, or foot patrols while maintaining situational awareness and making decisions and/or taking actions consistent with established post orders, facility rules, guidelines and protocols. Duties may include work in austere and uncomfortable conditions for prolonged periods of time, including periods of inclement weather, while performing walking, standing, searching, and surveillance or sitting duties essential to the performance of the security functions.

Escort individuals or vehicles in accordance with post orders, rules, regulations, guidelines and protocols.

Use portable radios, phones, or other communication devises appropriately and according to established rules.

Monitor all APSI and client equipment; guard against loss or damage; report any such loss or damage immediately to a supervisor or manager.

Log in Property Pass numbers for authorized property/equipment movements.

Ensure the security of government property, detaining personnel, and reporting anyone involved with unauthorized property/equipment removal.

Conduct regular patrols and inspections of buildings and facilities

Issue required vehicle passes to authorize personnel.

Monitor electronic access control and report violations

Monitor radio-frequency identification (RFID) systems and respond to alarms indicating unauthorized removal of government property.

Grant access to areas during non-working hours to authorized personnel in accordance with the established procedure and access lists.

Monitor facility equipment and utility systems and report deficiencies to personnel responsible for repairs.

Perform random surveillance of buildings for the detection of unauthorized or inappropriate activity.

Perform random surveillance of fence line for breaches and the detection of unauthorized removal of government property, illegal or inappropriate activity.

Provide additional security support for scheduled events that may occur during or after duty hours or for unscheduled emergencies as requested by supervisor

Maintain activity logs and administrative documents as required by contract.

Contact, assist, and cooperate with local, state, or federal law enforcement; locate, retain, and protect necessary evidence; testify as necessary in judicial and administrative proceedings.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Security Operations Dispatcher is an essential emergency operations position responsible for receiving emergency and non-emergency calls and signals for service over the telephone, computer, and radio. The Security Operations Dispatcher uses established protocols to process alarms and dispatch appropriate public safety resources. MPS Operations interacts daily with other operations and public safety dispatch centers to answer and transfer calls and incident information, and maintain communications with field personnel.

Municipal Protective Services (MPS) Operations is a 24/7, 365-day operation supporting over 600 City of Boston properties and facilities - maintaining radio communications and operations for MPS Security Officers and Supervisors, and monitoring intrusion and fire alarms across all City of Boston, Boston Public Schools, and Boston Public Library locations.

The City of Boston Property Management Department's (PMD) mission is to manage, maintain, repair, and provide security for the City's municipal buildings, including City Hall and Faneuil Hall; to preserve the useful life of City facilities and reduce operating costs through effective preventative maintenance measures.

• Processes incoming and outgoing emergency and non-emergency signals from alarm monitoring software consistent with established protocols and procedures.
• Provides clear and relevant information to field and operations personnel in response to received alarm signals or calls.
• Communicates with Municipal officers, law enforcement, fire, and EMS units as necessary to ensure the safety of people and property.
• Provides daily feedback to the Shift Supervisor regarding the operation of the Dispatch Center, recommends changes to policies and procedures, and promptly reports incidents or issues affecting the continuity of operations.
• Speaks, works, and otherwise communicates effectively in high-stress and time-sensitive situations.
• Maintains a familiarity with the general geography of the properties and communities served to dispatch Public Safety Personnel effectively.
• Maintains an effective and positive working environment.
• Performs related duties as required.

• High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• Two (2) years of professional experience in security operations, public safety dispatch, telecommunications, or call center operations, including facilities, equipment, technology systems, and management practices, is preferred.
• Knowledge of accepted call handling practices for public safety call takers, emphasizing professionalism and customer service, is preferred, including familiarity with the principles and practices of radio communications and the appropriate policies and procedures used in public safety dispatching.
• A basic understanding of the operational needs of public safety responders when receiving dispatch information is preferred.
• Must complete training initiatives and certifications for call receiving and dispatching within six months of hire, including Emergency Telecommunicator Certification (ETC) through the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch (NAED) and CPR Certification.
• The ability to operate various technologies, including modern computers, radio & telephone systems, and monitoring software such as SIS Alarm Center.
• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and in a busy and fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and competing demands on time.
• The ability to quickly process information from multiple sources (verbal, text, and video), keep information clear, make quick decisions based on minimal information, and accurately recall information on demand, especially names, numbers, and incident details.
• Deal with sensitive information discreetly and professionally, and carefully follow prescribed rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Be able to work in a shift-work environment with variable hours of work and schedule, and be available for overtime as needed.
• Proficiency in languages other than English is preferred.

• The ability to operate personal computers, view computer screens, alarm monitors, and CCTV monitors, and listen to radio and telephone communications for long periods is required.
