The Center for Congregations strengthens Indiana congregations by helping them find and use the best resources to address their challenges and opportunities. 

 

Since 1997, the Center for Congregations has helped Indiana congregations address their needs through resource consulting, educational events, and grants. We work with clergy, staff, and laity by listening to their concerns, developing work plans and carefully matching resources with their specific needs. The Center has offices in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, Seymour, and Crown Point to serve congregations throughout the state.

POSITION SUMMARY 

 

The Associate for Resource Consulting provides direct services to Indiana congregations as assigned by the Director of the Southwest Office. The Associate’s work with congregations will include intake of new cases; work with congregations on cases that include grants; carrying a caseload assigned to the Associate; and evaluation follow up as assigned. The Associate will be part of other projects as assigned by the Director of the Southwest Office and may include work with the Congregational Resource Guide (CRG), communications and/or education. The Associate will contribute to the Center’s key values of Equity, Responsibility, and Relationships. This position is located in Evansville, IN, but the caseload will be comprised of congregations from around the state of Indiana


RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Resource Consulting (80%) 

• Utilize a partnership process to help congregations of all types find resources to meet their needs 

• Ask questions and listen actively to understand the concerns and needs of congregations 

• Enter relevant information into the Contact Management System and the Congregational Resource Guide 

• Help congregational leaders articulate their challenges 

• Research and identify the resources that best address congregations’ questions and needs 

• Write annotations for resources consistent with the needs of the organization

• Provide congregations with resource information 

• Plan and facilitate meetings with colleagues and congregational leaders 

• Guide congregations through the Center for Congregations various grant programs

• Monitor the effectiveness of selected resources 

• Work with Center colleagues to improve approaches and strategies for providing resources to congregations 

 


Special Projects (20%) 

• Scope, plan and/or provide implementation support for special projects, education programs and strategic initiatives, as assigned by the Director of the Southwest Office.


TRAVEL 

 

The Associate for Resource Consulting will travel for congregational site visits as mutually planned with congregational leaders. On occasion, the Associate will travel to Center-sponsored education events and other Center-related events. 

 

A personal automobile and valid driver’s license will be required. Travel expenses will be reimbursed by the Center. 

 

EVALUATION


Participation in Center self-development, including all case reviews (3 per month) and Resource Consulting Development sessions (1 per month). Monthly meetings with the Director of the Southwest Office and the Senior Director of Grants and Resource Consulting. Annual performance review with the Director of the Southwest Office.


SALARY AND BENEFITS

Your Role

Human Resources Leadership

  • Partner closely with executive leadership, managers, and field supervision to provide coaching and ensure consistent, fair application of company policies and employment laws.

  • Submit certified payroll reports to local entities and CDOT through LCP Tracker and other required platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with Davis-Bacon and prevailing wage regulations.
  • Reconcile payroll taxes and ensure accurate reporting and timely deposits.
  • Perform detailed month-end reconciliations of payroll accounts and related general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare payroll and benefits documentation for financial audits and assist with payroll tax audits as needed.


Safety & Compliance Partnership

  • Partner with the company's safety consultant to reinforce CWC’s safety-first culture across office and field environments.
  • Support OSHA compliance efforts, documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist in coordinating safety training, tracking certifications, and maintaining training records.
  • Participate in incident reviews, ensuring appropriate documentation, follow-up, and corrective action alignment with company policy.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR and payroll management.

Office Manager/Human Resources Generalist

The Office Manager/HR Generalist is an in-office role supporting a commercial construction company of approximately 30 employees. This position oversees day-to-day office operations and coordinates key HR, recruiting, and bookkeeping processes to support project teams and a positive, high-performance workplace. 


We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented professional with strong discretion, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience in construction or a similarly dynamic field environment is strongly preferred. 


Key Responsibilities: 


Human Resources & Employee Administration: 


  • Coordinate and submit weekly payroll information and complete related internal postings/reconciliations in accordance with established processes and applicable laws. 
  • Track employee benefits eligibility and enrollment changes; coordinate benefits administration and annual renewals with broker/benefits providers. 
  • Coordinate 401(k) contributions and administration with plan/provider partners (as assigned). 
  • Coordinate workers’ compensation administration, reporting, and payments with carrier/third-party partners. 
  • Coordinate performance review schedules (90-day, 6-month, annual) and maintain related documentation in accordance with company policy and applicable law. 
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including performance documentation, in a confidential manner. 
  • Support periodic updates to the Employee Handbook and company policies in coordination with leadership and external HR/legal resources, as applicable. 


Recruiting & Employee Onboarding/Offboarding: 


  • Post open positions on approved platforms; support recruiting logistics and candidate communications. 
  • Screen applicants against role requirements and coordinate interviews with hiring managers and leadership. 
  • Support onboarding logistics for new hires, including workspace setup, system access, and equipment coordination. 
  • Coordinate offboarding logistics, including company property return and completion of established offboarding steps. 


Office Environment & Operations:


  • Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and welcoming office environment. 
  • Manage office supply inventory and purchasing within established guidelines. 
  • Proactively identify and address office operational needs to reduce friction for staff. 
  • Maintain records for company vehicles, registrations, and related documentation. 
  • Track and coordinate office/field equipment inventory (e.g., computers, devices) and related assignments. 
  • Coordinate required city/state business licenses and renewals. 
  • Track employee safety training/certifications and coordinate scheduling/renewals as needed. 
  • Coordinate monthly office safety meetings and maintain related documentation. 


Bookkeeping & Administrative Accounting Support: 


  • Prepare and coordinate bank deposits and supporting documentation. 
  • Reconcile and post monthly credit card transactions in accordance with established procedures. 
  • Coordinate annual 1099 preparation and issuance with accounting/tax partners. 
  • Oversee vendor setup and compliance documentation in coordination with the compliance/accounting function. 


Qualifications & Experience: 


  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. 
  • 5+ years of experience in office management, HR operations, recruiting, or similar role strongly preferred
  • Experience processing payroll, benefits administration, recruiting coordination, and basic bookkeeping processes. 
  • Systems-oriented and process-driven; able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. 
  • This role is primarily office-based and requires regular on-site presence. 
  • Employment is contingent on successful completion of a background check consistent with applicable law. 


Compensation and Benefits: 

  • Salary: Salary range of $80,000 – $105,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
  • Paid Time Off: PTO and paid holidays. 
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with a company match (currently up to 4%), subject to plan terms and eligibility. 
  • Health & Insurance: Medical and vision plan options at varying employee cost. Dental, accident, and life insurance is offered at a discounted rate. 
  • Bonus: Employees may be eligible for an annual performance bonus after one year of employment; bonus eligibility and amounts, if any, are not guaranteed and are determined based on individual and company performance and company discretion. 
  • Hours: 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
