SUMMARY

Job Description
Statement of Purpose
The Behavioral Health Technician fulfills the assigned role as a part of the treatment team, maintaining the well-being of clients and integrity of the program. Provides client supervision and staff/unit support as assigned.
Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
- Completes admission procedures on new clients including tech paperwork, room assignments, and initial orientation.
- Conducts property searches of clients as required by program standards.
- Performs urine drug screen testing of clients as required.
- Performs medication call supervision as required.
- Provides transportation services including patient transportation, donation pick-ups, agency errands, etc.
- Attending in-service training and educational workshops.
- Attending all required staff meetings.
- Knowledge of mental health, drug and alcohol abuse, family systems and various recovery resources in the community such as Smart Recovery and others.
- Develop and maintain individualized records of client progress (shift notes) and participation in treatment including admission and discharge, individual sessions, group facilitation, family, vocational (both individual and group) literacy training and other occasions as appropriate. The technician will not be doing any treatment planning or counseling services unless registered to do so. The tech will have restricted EHR access.
- Ability to write clear (and concise) statements, summarizing client’s feelings, expressions, resistance and response to their treatment plan, goals, and objectives. Includes letters to referral agencies, courts/probation.
- Ability to confront behavioral changes, identify a crisis, and recognize when additional assistance is necessary.

Description of Responsibilities
The Bio-Med Technician is responsible for receiving and monitoring stock of infusion pumps among other tasks.
Reporting Relationship
Designated Person
Scope of Supervision
None
Responsibilities include the following:
1. Check in pumps from service of patient’s care.
2. Carefully check pumps for damages.
3. Clean and test pumps for accuracy.
4. Make sure the infusion pumps are available for use.
5. Monitor stock of infusion pump daily.
6. Return Rental infusion pump back to vendors.
7. Arrange infusion pump pick return.
8. Provide support to Pharmacy Staff and other departments
Minimum Qualifications:
- Effective interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.
- Must be detail-oriented with accuracy.
- Compliant to safety rules.
Education and/or Experience:
- Must have a High School diploma or Graduation Equivalent Diploma (G.E.D.) or Higher.
- Prior experience in a pharmacy or home health company is of benefit.
- Prior experience in a consumer related business is also of benefit.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to express technical issues in “layman” terms.

Job Summary:
Provides excellent patient care by assisting in collaboration, development, implementation, revision and reporting of the case management program. Acts as a liaison between the patient, family, nurse, physicians, multidisciplinary team and patient's healthcare benefactor to optimize outcomes. Serves as a consultant to the healthcare team on specific patient items.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN): Preferred
- Experience in a care management role: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required
- Case management certification: Preferred
Essential Functions:
- Leads the coordination of patient care with other disciplines within the care team, monitoring the appropriateness and timeliness of care.
- Ensures the interdisciplinary care plan is consistent with the patient's clinical course, continuing care needs and covered services by monitoring diagnostic testing, treatments and procedures, and other aspects of patient care as appropriate for acute care.
- Discusses with physicians, the appropriateness of resource utilization, consultations, treatment plan, estimated length of stay, and discharge plan. Focuses on complex patients, frequent ED utilizers, chronic pain patients, substance abuse patients, homeless patients. Collaborates with acute care case managers to ensure appropriateness on on-going care.
- Coordinates the transfer of patients to tertiary centers, including the transfer of patient information required for continuity of ongoing treatment and services.
- Provides oversight and collects data required for regulatory and accreditation compliance. Manages frequent ED visitors by conducting a focus study review of the previous and current admissions.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
