The Area Biomed Manager oversees technical and building services for a group of assigned clinics.

This position will oversee 6 DCI clinics in Charleston and one acute location.

Performs air quality testing according to clinic policy.

Keeps up-to-date on OSHA standards and other standards.

Implements and monitors compliance with standards to provide a safe workplace.

Provides staff education in technical areas.

Participates in on-call duties and is available in emergencies when indicated.

Actively encourages and is an example of open communication between physicians, staff and Area Operations Director.

About the Role

This position provides civil litigation and outreach to low-income migrant and seasonal agricultural farmworkers. The primary practice areas will include employment law, occupational safety and health law, and civil rights.


The farmworker attorney will assist in outreach to farmworker communities and camps and develop relationships with other organizations serving farmworkers. To successfully reach the target groups, the position requires some evening, weekend, and overnight work. Statewide travel is involved.


Responsibilities


  • Under policies and procedures established by SCLS, attorneys provide a wide range of high-quality legal services, from advice and brief services to full representation, advocacy, legal outreach, and legal education to protect the rights and represent the interests of the low-income community.
  • The areas of civil legal practice include, but are not limited to, community economic development, consumer, education, employment, family, federal income tax, housing, probate, public benefits, and migrant farmworkers.
  • Ensures the delivery of high-quality legal representation, advocacy, and legal education to low-income individuals and families in accordance with SCLS priorities and procedures.
  • Performs legal research, prepares memoranda, pleadings, discovery, motions, appeals, and interrogatories, and keeps the Managing Attorney advised of case statuses.
  • Appears in State and Federal courts for motions, trials, arguments, hearings, rules to show cause, pre-trial conferences, status conferences, roster/docket sounding, and appeals. Fills in for other attorneys as needed.
  • Identify/analyze systemic issues through individual and impact cases.
  • Participates in advocacy, unit, program-wide, planning, and strategy meetings with partners and statewide advocates.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with client groups and community-based service providers, working with them to identify community lawyering opportunities.
  • Performs all other duties as may be requested by the Managing Attorney.


Qualifications


  • Attorneys must possess and maintain a valid membership in the South Carolina Bar Association.
  • Attorneys must complete all rules and requirements set by the South Carolina Bar and the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Pay range and compensation package


SCLS offers a very generous compensation package. Health, Dental, Vision, Group Term Life, Accidental Death, and Short—and Long-term coverage are 100% employer-paid. Annual and sick leave is also available.


SCLS will pay the cost of continuing legal education (CLE) courses, the South Carolina Bar Dues, one County Bar Dues, and the CLE certification fees. However, it is the responsibility of the attorney to keep abreast of CLE hours and to ensure that membership dues are forwarded to the accounting department in a timely fashion and before the deadlines imposed by the Supreme Court.   • Ensures accurate calibrations, cleaning and scheduled maintenance of clinical/lab equipment as required by OSHA, DHEC and UMA; tracked by documentation.
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and any other pertinent information, communicating as appropriate. Document test and exam results. Communicates plan of care to the patient including formal development of patient education materials as necessary.
  • Maintains exam room supplies, instruments and cleanliness of patient care environment, as required by OSHA, DHEC and UMA.
  • Maintains timely flow of patient, assists with scheduling of appointments and referrals based on urgency and availability. Screens patients for appropriate information and provides patient education as appropriate for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Observes, records and reports patient's physical and psychosocial condition, reactions to medication and treatments to physician. Responds to and triages phone calls. Call in orders appropriately as ordered by physician. Instructs patient, as ordered by the physician, regarding treatment and/or medication. Responsible for monitoring and distribution of medication including samples and controlled substances.
  • Triages patients and prepares for physician exams and procedures. Assists with exam, procedures and treatments as necessary. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. Administers prescribed treatments and tests as ordered by the physician.

Additional Job Description

CMA I Required Minimum Training and Education: High school diploma or equivalent.  Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.

CMA Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:  Must be certified through American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), National Association of Healthcare Professionals (NAHP), Medical Career Assessments (MedCA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Physical Requirements: Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.  Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors.  Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs.   Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.

Job Description


  • Ensures accurate calibrations, cleaning and scheduled maintenance of clinical/lab equipment as required by OSHA, DHEC and UMA; tracked by documentation.
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and any other pertinent information, communicating as appropriate. Document test and exam results. Communicates plan of care to the patient including formal development of patient education materials as necessary.
  • Maintains exam room supplies, instruments and cleanliness of patient care environment, as required by OSHA, DHEC and UMA.
  • Maintains timely flow of patient, assists with scheduling of appointments and referrals based on urgency and availability. Screens patients for appropriate information and provides patient education as appropriate for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Observes, records and reports patient's physical and psychosocial condition, reactions to medication and treatments to physician. Responds to and triages phone calls. Call in orders appropriately as ordered by physician. Instructs patient, as ordered by the physician, regarding treatment and/or medication. Responsible for monitoring and distribution of medication including samples and controlled substances.
  • Triages patients and prepares for physician exams and procedures. Assists with exam, procedures and treatments as necessary. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests. Administers prescribed treatments and tests as ordered by the physician.

Additional Job Description

CMA I Required Minimum Training and Education: High school diploma or equivalent.  Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.

CMA Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:  Must be certified through American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), National Association of Healthcare Professionals (NAHP), Medical Career Assessments (MedCA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Physical Requirements: Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.  Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors.  Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs.   Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
