The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Life Actuary to join the Life Company's Asset Liability Management Team. This role coordinates, prepares, and performs actuarial analyses required to develop new products, project future results, reprice existing products, and/or determine financial strength.

This role is remote eligible in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel. However, individuals residing within a 60-mile radius of a USAA office will be expected to work on-site four days per week. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

What you'll do:

• Performs complex work assignments utilizing actuarial modeling software driven models for pricing, valuation, and/or risk management.
• Reviews laws and regulations to ensure all processes are compliant; and provides recommendations for improvements and monitors industry communications regarding potential changes to existing laws and regulations.
• Runs models, generates reports, and presents recommendations and detailed analysis of all model runs to Actuarial Leadership.
• May make recommendations for model adjustments and improvements, when appropriate.
• Shares knowledge with team members and serves as a resource to team on escalated issues and navigates obstacles to deliver work product.
• Leads or participates as a key resource on moderately complex projects through concept, planning, execution, and implementation phases with minimal guidance, involving cross functional actuarial areas.
• Develops exhibits and reports that help explain proposals/findings and provides information in an understandable and usable format for stakeholders.
• Identifies and provides recommended solutions to business problems independently, often presenting recommendation to leadership.
• Maintains proper price level, price structure, data availability and other requirements to achieve profitability and competitive goals.
• Identifies critical assumptions to monitor and suggest timely remedies to correct or prevent unfavorable trends.
• Tests impact of assumptions by identifying sources of gain and loss, the appropriate premiums, interest margins, reserves, and cash values for profitability and viability of new and existing products.
• Advises management on issues and serves as a primary resource for their individual team members on escalated issues.
• Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

• Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree. (Total of 8 years of experience without bachelor's degree)

• Do you have one of the following:
• 4 years relevant actuarial or analytical experience and attainment of Fellow within the Society of Actuaries (Bachelor's degree + 4 years of experience + FSA)
• OR 8 years relevant actuarial experience and attainment of Associate within the Society of Actuaries. (Bachelor's Degree + 8 years of experience + ASA)
• OR 8 years relevant actuarial or analytical experience and attainment of Fellow within the Society of Actuaries (FSA)
• OR 12 years relevant actuarial or analytical experience and attainment of Associate within the Society of Actuaries (ASA)

• Experience performing complex work assignments utilizing actuarial modeling software driven models for pricing, valuation, and/or risk management.

• Demonstrated experience communicating complex actuarial analysis and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $127,310 - $236,250

Responsibilities

The Sterility Assurance Scientist is a technical role that assists in the development and implementation of the site’s sterility assurance programs and provides technical guidance and expertise in environmental monitoring, contamination control, aseptic process simulations, gowning/aseptic techniques, and cleaning/sanitization strategies, including disinfectant efficacy.

The principal role develops and implements a technical agenda and provides technical leadership for the Parenteral Process Team. This individual is also expected to serve as a mentor within the TSMS team and engage in upstream and external site activities related to sterility assurance and contamination control strategies.

Key Objectives / Deliverables

Provide oversight and technical guidance for sterility assurance programs at the manufacturing floor level.

Lead or provide technical support for sterility assurance activities including but not limited to:

• Airflow Pattern Testing
• Environmental Monitoring Performance Qualifications (EMPQ)
• Aseptic Process Simulations (APS / Media Fills)
• Cleaning, Sanitization, and Disinfection Programs
• Gowning within GMP Classified Areas
• Aseptic Processing Techniques
• Contamination Control

Additional responsibilities include:

• Assist in the development and implementation of facility monitoring and contamination control processes.
• Support development and implementation of the site contamination control strategy.
• Provide technical expertise related to cleaning and sanitization programs and disinfectant efficacy strategies.
• Support development and execution of cleanroom gowning and aseptic technique programs.

Sterility Assurance Program Support

Provide technical oversight for one or both of the following programs:

Environmental Monitoring (EM)

• Author Environmental Monitoring Performance Qualification protocols (EMPQ) and oversee execution.
• Evaluate EM data and author EM trend reports.
• Identify facility environmental isolates and maintain environmental isolate cultures.

Aseptic Process Simulation (APS / Media Fill)

• Author APS protocols and oversee execution.
• Evaluate APS data including personnel qualification results and author APS reports.
• Track and trend APS activities to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to Global Quality Standards.

Additional Responsibilities

• Apply sterility assurance risk management principles to evaluate manufacturing processes and controls related to microbial, endotoxin, and particulate contamination risks.
• Analyze microbiological and manufacturing data to identify trends, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities.
• Provide technical support for root cause investigations associated with sterility assurance programs.
• Participate in internal and external audits as a sterility assurance subject matter expert.
• Create, execute, review, and approve technical documents and change controls related to sterility assurance programs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver TSMS objectives and quality goals.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Demonstrated understanding of scientific principles related to sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing including:
• Microbiology

• Environmental Monitoring
• Sterility Assurance
• Validation

• Quality Assurance within cGMP pharmaceutical manufacturing
• Senior level: 2+ years of pharmaceutical manufacturing experience (Microbiology, TSMS, Sterility Assurance, or related function)
• Principal level: 5+ years of pharmaceutical manufacturing experience (Microbiology, TSMS, Sterility Assurance, or related function)

Functional Purpose

Serves as Special Assistant U.S. Attorney while litigating mail theft and other complex cases as designated by the Chief Inspector or designee for an assigned division/ geographic region of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Represents the United States Postal Service in the prosecution of federal crimes.

2. Develops and recommends strategies and coordinates the preparation of litigation for mail theft, mail fraud and other complex cases.

3. Performs all aspects of criminal discovery, motions practice, trials and appeals.

4. Meets with defense attorneys in advance of trial to conduct pre-trial conferences and negotiations.

5. Works closely with postal inspectors and other law enforcement agents, witnesses and victims during criminal investigations, trial preparation and all phases of litigation.

6. Conducts legal research. Prepares memoranda and briefs on questions of law. Prepares pleadings.

8. SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Applicant must submit to a Tier 5 Single-Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) and a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) if required. This investigation requires, among other things, completion of a questionnaire and fingerprinting for a criminal records check. The investigation may require a drug test. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance while holding this position.

9. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Applicants must have a Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
