The Cancer Instituteis now hiring for a team-oriented and compassionate part-time Medical Assistant to work as a float between our Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell clinics!

• This MA position will act as a float between the Boise, Nampa and Caldwell medical oncology and radiation oncology clinic locations and will support multiple providers at the Cancer Institute.

• This position will work at our Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell clinic locations to help cover for sick calls, PTO, lab support, and scheduling needs including treatment scheduling. See clinic location details below.

• The Saint Alphonsus Cancer Institute is proud to be the leading cancer program in Idaho and Eastern Oregon. Our committed team of oncologists and surgeons use advanced technology to provide the highest quality of care for all types of cancer, treating it at the earliest stage.

• We offer advanced diagnostic tools like low-dose CT and 3D imaging, precision radiation therapies, and integrated care plans and support programs. These help provide seamless care for patients and families.

• Saint Alphonsus also holds the region's largest clinical trials. 

• You will coordinate and partner with the clinical care team to help support all aspects of patient care while patients are undergoing treatment.

• This may include complete chart prep, assist patients with moving within the clinics, rooming and taking vitals, and setting up for procedures.

• You will also work a lot on the computer including items in the work queue, scheduling new patients, scheduling patients for procedures, related appointments, and follow up visits and complete related paperwork.

• You will also be crossed trained in the Radiation Oncology clinic.

• An ideal candidate will be proficient, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable and enjoy a fast-paced environment.

• You will have strong experience with EPIC and knowledge of orders.

• You will also desire being part of a strong team and enjoy connecting with patients and developing relationships with them.

• 30 hours/week: 3 -10 hour shifts, during the work week. Variable days off.

• Around the hours of 7:30am - 6:00pm. Clinic start and end time can vary based on physician's schedule.

• Work schedule is released 5 - 6 weeks in advance.

• This position will NOT work weekends or major holidays.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.

• MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:

  • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)

  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)

  • National Healthcare Association (CCMA)

  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)

  • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)

  • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)

  • National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)

• New Graduates: 1) MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school. 2) Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification.

• Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.

• Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.

• *Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year. See each of the credentialing organization sites for additional details. EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.

Many colleagues who support our Emergency Department (ED) in Boise also have the unique opportunity to float to our freestanding Emergency Department in Eagle, Idaho.

Our nurses enjoy autonomy in their naturally fast paced roles, and work closely with a collaborative and interactive emergency physician group, as well as trauma, ortho, and neurosurgeons, among other specialties. Teamwork is at the core of how we function. As a nurse in our ED, you will care for emergency patients, as well as run trauma cases that pass through our doors.  We offer advanced treatment protocols, and in addition to being a Level II Trauma Center, are designated as a Level I STEMI Center and a Level I Stroke Center.

Our ideal candidates will have prior experience working in a fast-paced emergency department. In addition, they will have some experience taking care of critical patients and will be able to utilize critical thinking and assessment skills to prioritize patient needs. They will have a desire to take care of all types of patients and will want to be part of a team.

Our Boise Emergency Department has 34 beds to serve patients of all ages. As the most advanced trauma center in the region, we represent a continuum of care that incorporates the rapid, critical care response of Life Flight, the Emergency Department; comprehensive, multi-specialty surgical expertise including neuroscience, trauma, orthopedics, critical care units, rehabilitation, as well as the state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technologies. Our Eagle Emergency Department is a 14 bed free-standing center that serves our patients 24/7, typically offering a much shorter wait time than experienced at larger facilities. Staffed by board-certified emergency doctors and specially trained staff, we provide a highly collaborative environment that continually seeks innovative ideas to better serve our patients.
