Position Overview

The Legal Assistant will provide comprehensive clerical and administrative support to attorneys across multiple practice areas. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who can proactively manage case-related tasks in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide administrative and clerical support to multiple attorneys across practice groups

Anticipate department needs and proactively track and support case progress

Draft and prepare legal documents including routine pleadings, motions, affidavits, interrogatories, and case information statements

Organize, maintain, store, and retrieve case files, including pleadings, exhibits, evidence, and correspondence

Ensure all paper files are promptly uploaded and maintained in the electronic document management system

Assist attorneys with trial and arbitration preparation

Track, enter, audit, and manage attorney billable hours

Maintain accurate and accessible electronic records for all correspondence and case materials

Perform additional administrative and legal support duties as assigned


Required Skills & Qualifications

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Experience with electronic court filing systems and case management tools

Familiarity with billing software, document management systems (e.g., iManage), and legal applications

Working knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, pleadings, and legal research methods

The New Jersey Bureau of Securities (“Bureau”) is charged with protecting investors from investment fraud, and regulating the securities industry in New Jersey. In addition to bringing investigative and enforcement actions against firms or individuals who violate the New Jersey Uniform Securities Law and Regulations, the Bureau registers securities offered or sold in New Jersey and oversees the firms and individuals selling securities or providing investment advice to New Jersey residents. Through its Investor Education initiative, the Bureau also helps New Jersey residents become informed investors and promotes financial literacy.


The Bureau adheres to the philosophy that investor protection begins with prevention. By registering broker-dealers, investment advisers and their agents who conduct business in New Jersey, the Bureau identifies potential problems before they occur. ABOUT THE POSITION:


Under the supervision of Chief Bureau of Securities will:


  • Chief Investigator will serve as the Regulatory Chief for the Bureau
  • Supervises the Regulatory activities of the Bureau of Securities
  • Responsible for the investigative policy and programs
  • Administration of confidential and sensitive administrative and regulatory audits;
  • Coordinate civil and licensing investigations for the detection of alleged noncompliance with or violation of New Jersey State statutes,

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and six (6) years of the above-mentioned professional experience, three (3) years of which shall have been in the administration of investigative programs, initiatives, and regulatory and administrative audits.
  • Possession of a master's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field; and five (5) years of the above-mentioned professional experience, three (3) years of which shall have been in the administration of investigative programs, initiatives, and regulatory and administrative audits.
