Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBLE FOR:
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or provider to patients form birth through the lifecycle utilizing the nursing process in accordance with Piedmont Healthcare's Mission and Vision Statements; functions within the framework of their license and the policy and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The Licensed Practical Nurse guides ancillary staff, collaborates with other health care professionals in the provision of quality nursing care. Key Responsibilities Perform emergency medical treatment for Sailors, Marines, and specialized units such as SEALs and Seabees; provide basic and emergency dental care and process dental X rays; serve as operating room technician and assist in surgery; administer preventive care and medications including immunizations and IVs; conduct physical exams and assist in diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries; maintain patient records, perform clinical tests, and support physicians and nurses in a wide range of specialties.

What to Expect Hands on patient care with shift work and possible on call duties; field training and deployments with Marine and expeditionary units and embarked medical departments on ships; continuous certification and recertification in areas such as basic life support, trauma care, and tactical combat casualty care; mix of clinic, ward, and field environments with rapid response in emergent situations and a strong emphasis on teamwork and readiness.
