This role is being created as an addition to the team to support a new project within the Large Power Transformer manufacturing facility in Charlotte. The position is critical for performing the hands-on assembly phase of transformer production, directly contributing to the successful execution of the project's manufacturing goals. To meet these objectives, the role is structured around two key areas: the precise mechanical assembly of transformer core components and the strict adherence to safety and quality protocols. This focus ensures that all units are built to exact engineering specifications while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment. Given the focus on hands-on assembly and quality assurance, the ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude and experience interpreting technical drawings. A commitment to safety, a growth mindset, and a willingness to participate in specialized cross-training are essential for success in this role.
How you'll make an impact
70% Transformer Core Assembly- Perform the assembly of transformer cores by stacking laminations according to engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Install and secure the lower yoke and columns, ensuring proper alignment and fit.
- Precisely place oil channels, insulation, and other specified materials within the core structure as per design specifications.
- Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment to safely move and position heavy transformer components.
30% Safety, Quality, and Process Adherence- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards during assembly tasks.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manufacturing procedures to ensure accurate and compliant assembly.
- Participate in specialized training programs for Large Power Transformer manufacturing and engage in cross-training for new processes.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and report any equipment malfunctions or process deviations to the team supervisor.
What you Bring
- High School Diploma or GED required; prior experience in heavy industrial manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly preferred.
- Strong ability to operate overhead cranes and forklifts; blueprint?reading experience highly desirable.
- Technical skills include engineering drawings, mechanical assembly, electrical transformers, and material?handling equipment operation.
- Experience working with electrical equipment and applying quality control standards.
- Knowledge of electrical safety and continuous improvement processes.

A Snapshot of Your Day
As a CNC Vertical Boring Machine (VBM) Operator, you will be responsible for the precise manufacturing of components using CNC VBM machinery, ensuring adherence to safe and efficient production processes. You will operate and monitor the VBM equipment, ensuring that all products are produced to the highest quality standards and within specified timelines. Your role will involve a commitment to continuous improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
Working with minimal supervision, you will manage your own workflow, including setting up machines, selecting appropriate tools, and making necessary adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Set up and operate all large VBMs and perform various machining operations on a variety of parts and components
- Sets up and operates one or more of the following:
- CNC VBM with various control software
- Operate machine using various tables and fixtures
- Interpret technical drawings and GD&T; verify dimensions using precision instruments (micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators).
- process inspections and record measurements to maintain tolerance and surface finish requirements.
- guarding and PPE requirements (29 CFR 1910.212) to prevent exposure to hazards.
- Safely handle large components using overhead cranes and forklifts per company certification standards.
- Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
What You Bring
- A minimum of 3 years of experience operating boring CNC machines with Siemens and/or FANUC controls is required.
- HS Diploma or GED required
- Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain Fork Truck and Critical Lift (B+) level crane licenses.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position at the machine console and move/position to set up tooling and inspect parts throughout the shift, reasonable accommodations available.
- Ability to manually lift up to 50 lbs for short durations, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work with either written, oral, or graphic instructions.
- Proven ability to use precision gages and set tooling to high accuracies, preferably on large diameters.
- Ability to obtain an ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate (Silver Level or higher) as part of the pre-hire assessment. Siemens Energy will assist in scheduling the test upon shortlisting.
- Successful applicants must be able to pass standard hearing, vision, and pulmonary function tests or any other as required to perform the duties.

This is a 4 days x10 hours Night position. The primary purpose of this position is to be skilled in the use of manual GTAW welding of superalloys including Inconel and Hastelloy. Thin wall welding and passing a 6G Butt Joint Open Root is a requirement. Experience with fitting and coldworking materials to shape within requirements is a must.
Success is dependent upon flexibility in working urgent priorities and effectively completing daily work assignments day to day.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Perform a wide variety of layout/fitting/ welding required to complete restore service-ran Combustion components to Engineered requirements.
- Cold work and form components to meet tolerance requirements.
- Use hand tools, grinders, burrs etc, to recondition surfaces to specifications
- Interpret detailed drawings/sketches, blueprints, manufactures specifications, etc., and determines necessary tools to perform required machining operations.
- Using material handling devices (Jib & B/C cranes and forklifts), loads/unloads parts from machines and/or assists crane operator.
- Must be able to attain Career Readiness Certificate at a Silver Level.
What You Bring
- Must be able to pass the following welding qualification tests: Inconel GMAW 6G Butt Joint Open Root to the ISO standard.
- Must have high school diploma and have 1-3 years of industrial-welding-assembly experience or formal training.
- Ability to obtain fork truck and crane license. Prefer to have previous experience.

Technical Support

What We're Looking For:- Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.
- Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
