We partner with our clients to provide fully customized and innovative solutions that integrate claims administration with risk control solutions.
We are searching for highly motivated Claims Examiners to join our team! Under supervision of the Claims Supervisor, the Claims Examiner will manage claims from inception to conclusion. The position requires an individual that adheres to best practices and State of California statutes to work directly with clients, injured workers, agents, vendors, and attorneys to resolve workers compensation claims.
This position is available for either remote or in office work.
Minimum Requirements
- Three (3) years of claims management experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Possession of a current Self-Insurance Plan (SIP) Certificate and insurance-related course work: CPCU, WCCA, WCCP, ARM.
- Ability to administer any type of indemnity claim within the assigned caseload including those involving lost time, permanent disability residuals, and future medical claims.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure proper handling of claims from inception to conclusion per client service agreements and JT2 service standards.
- Prepare accurate and timely issuance of benefits notices and required reports within statutory limits.
- Reserve files in compliance with injury type; identify potential costs of medical care investigation and indemnity benefits.
- Ensure timely payment of benefits, bills and appropriate caseload and performance goals.
- Negotiate and prepare claims for settlement; provide manager/supervisor with complete and accurate settlement data.
- Monitor, report, and assign claims for fraud potential and subrogation possibilities.
- Monitor claims for pre-established criteria for case-management and vocational rehabilitation in accordance with State laws.
- Prepare and present claims summaries to clients during file reviews.
- Train and direct Claims Assistants to meet goals and deadlines.
- Review and approve priority payments and other documents from Claims Assistants.
- Performs other duties as assigned

What you'll be working on:

The base hourly range for this role is $59.10 to $65.50 per hour (plus evening and weekend differential) based on a full-time schedule. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $205,000 to $235,000. The University of California, Berkeley Library seeks an innovative and collaborative Metadata Strategies Librarian to improve and transform the discovery of library resources by evaluating and implementing new and emerging workflows, standards, and technologies.
The Environment
The UC Berkeley Library is an internationally renowned research and teaching facility at the nation's premier public university. A highly diverse and intellectually rich environment, Berkeley serves a campus community of 33,070 undergraduate students, 12,812 graduate students, and 1,525 faculty. The Library comprises 20 campus libraries, including the Doe Library, the Moffitt Library, the Bancroft Library, the C.V. Starr East Asian Library, and numerous subject specialty libraries. With a collection of more than 12 million volumes and a collections budget of over $15 million, the Library offers extensive resources in all formats and robust services to connect users with the collections and build their research skills. The Metadata Services department is part of the Collection Services Division (CSD), along with the Acquisitions department and the Preservation department. Metadata Services supports resource discovery and access by cataloging and physically processing library resources in all formats and languages (except Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) for the University (Main) Library and subject specialty libraries. The department also performs database maintenance to ensure accurate metadata and enhance resource discoverability.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Metadata Services, the Metadata Strategies Librarian will help lead efforts to implement new metadata initiatives and maximize the use of technology and emerging standards to foster workflow efficiency and innovation. This position will develop and contribute to policies, standards, and services that enhance the discoverability of the Library's resources. The librarian will also support the Library's participation in the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC).
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborates on the development and implementation of new metadata policies and workflows, such as linked data, to enhance access and discovery to the Library's collections.
- Evaluates and implements emerging applications, such as artificial intelligence, and metadata standards with the goal of continually improving metadata quality and fostering workflow efficiency and innovation.
- Participates in the creation, development, implementation, and revision of department and library policies and procedures.
- Develops, implements, and oversees metadata remediation and enrichment projects to support current and future discoverability.
- Provides training to department and library staff.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships across the Library and beyond.
- Serves as liaison to the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC).

Position description
The School of Journalism is recruiting for a Director of Special Academic Programs (Academic Coordinator I). This position will be responsible for coordinating the School's summer undergraduate minor, overseeing the undergraduate program overall, helping with coordination of the California Newsroom Fellowship program, and managing other special academic programs.
50% of this position will be dedicated to managing the Undergraduate Minor. The Director (AC) will work with the Undergraduate Advisor and Journalism Staff to manage the undergraduate minor program over Summer 2026 and Summer 2027. The AC will manage all of the academic administration for the program, which includes: working with the Associate Dean to review applicants and participate in interviews; helping to manage Academic Student Employees (ASEs); working with Summer Sessions to advertise classes and participate in workshops or other trainings; leading orientation and training for summer lecturers; and assisting summer lecturers with a variety of academic matters, including curriculum planning, evaluating exceptional student requests, training instructors on the Learning Management Software (known as bCourses), handling classroom incidents or referring to the appropriate campus departments, facilitating incomplete grades resolution, facilitating grade appeals process including informal resolution, and assisting with DSP exam proctoring.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Program Administration & Student Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the minor, including student enrollment, scholarship arrangements, and information dissemination.
- Serve as the primary liaison for curriculum planning, working with the executive and curriculum committees to ensure core and elective course availability.
- Lead program promotion, managing communications, and maintaining the website.
Summer Session Management:
- Serve as the key lead for Summer Sessions, managing hiring, class coordination, and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with the Undergraduate Advisor, Journalism staff, AP Analyst, and Student Services team to meet hiring deadlines for instructors and Academic Student Employees (ASE).
- The AC will work through August 30, 2027 to see the completion of summer session appointments and help instructors with final grade submissions & final offboarding.
Expansion & Access:
- Drive significant expansion of enrollment for the minor.
- Explore establishing the minor as a system-wide offering accessible to other UC students.
- Develop a professional pipeline, including pre-college course offerings for high school students.
- Work to establish a 4+1 BA/MJ degree to facilitate access to graduate-level Journalism education.
- Explore expanding the minor into a full undergraduate major.
- Curriculum & Content: Act as a crucial thought partner to continuously update the curriculum, ensuring it reflects new technologies and political realities within the rapidly evolving journalism industry.
Faculty Engagement:
- Help maintain and increase engagement with the teaching faculty, including Berkeley Senate professors and journalists from top newsrooms.
25% of this position will be dedicated to supporting the California News Fellowship program. The AC will have a central role in the Fellowship Program and its integration with the wider curriculum. Responsibilities include managing the admissions and selection process, such as reviewing applications and participating in the selection of each new cohort. The AC will also review the annual operations handbook to identify development opportunities. Crucially, the AC acts as a system overseer for the fellowship, bridging training opportunities with the graduate curriculum. The AC will be a key thought partner and leader in creating a partnership between the fellowship and the undergraduate minor program, exploring collaborations like joint projects and developing shared training opportunities.
25% of this position will be dedicated to managing the School's other special academic programs which includes the Business Journalism Certificate Program, and the Masters of Journalism/Masters Public Health. The AC would take ownership of these programs and would manage the coordination of all of our special graduate programs as needed across the curriculum.
Possibility of reappointment may be considered based on performance and need of the School.
