Job Summary
The Physician Assistant (PA) Primary Care is a licensed, certified healthcare provider. They provide direct patient care and have prescriptive authority. They are credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent provider by Medicare and Medicaid. The Advanced Practice Provider offers medical care based on the supervising physician's scope of practice.
These providers typically provide care to patients in an internal medicine, family medicine, geriatric or pediatric clinic.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Assess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing comprehensive or problem-focused physical exams and obtaining medical histories.
- Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs.
- Prescribes, recommends, or uses medical drug therapies or other treatments. Performs procedures following approved protocols, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost.
- Recommends interventions to modify behavior associated with health risks.
- Creates and carries out detailed patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, and care standards. Collaborates with physicians and team members when needed.
- Evaluates patient?s response to health care provided and the effectiveness of care.
- Counsels patients and families regarding medical processes, management of the health illness/condition, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
- Counsels patients about drug regimens and possible side effects. Discusses interactions with substances like food supplements, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies.
- Maintains appropriate records detailing the patient's treatment plans and outcomes. Initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope or expertise.
- Provide consultation level services for conditions /problems related to the Provider?s specialty and training.
- Perform invasive procedures specific to scope of practice as delegated by supervising Physician.
- May provide care to patients in a team-based model. Focus on acute and chronic illness management and population health.

- Knowledge of information and techniques is needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.

Representing clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend clients or prosecute defendants in criminal or civil litigation.

Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents on behalf of clients.
3.
Examining legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuits.
4.
Preparing and drafting legal documents, such as wills, deeds, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and contracts.
5.
Gathering evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case.
6.
Defending depositions and managing discovery.
7.
Conducting legal research and analysis of law sources such as statutes, legal articles, and legal codes to prepare legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, etc., for trial, presentation before courts or other legal proceedings.
8.
Managing all phases of litigation from investigation, pleadings and discovery to pre-trial, trial, settlement and appeal.
Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications: 1.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
2.
Admission to the State Bar of Texas is required.
3.
Minimum of 2-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in Products Liability and general negligence.
4.
Proven background in defending depositions.
5.
Exceptional analytical skills, with a strong ability to draft and review legal documents, analyze legal advice and apply legal principles.
6.
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels within the organization.
7.
Strong negotiating skills with both legal and financial/commercial issues.
8.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and cases.
10.
High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas.
11.
Excellent judgment and ability to understand and manage a range of sensitive issues.
12.
Demonstrated ability to manage relationships with both internal and external customers.
