The physician assistant will be primarily involved in direct patient care in support of our Orthopedic Sports Medicine specialist. Duties include assist in the outpatient clinic/hospital setting, operating room following standard practice guidelines to provide safe and effective medical care. We are seeking a detail oriented, motivated, hard working Physician Assistant to join our team and work with our board certified, fellowship trained Orthopedic Sports medicine surgeon with specialization in arthroscopy and treatment of injuries of the Shoulder, Elbow, Hip and Knee.

Responsibilities

  • Hospital/Surgical Center Responsibilities
  • May need to round in the hospital on rare occasions with inpatients
  • May need to assist in hospital consults on rare occasions.
  • Assists the surgeon with major and minor surgical procedures in the operating room.
  • Positions, preps and drapes the patient, as needed.
  • Closes surgical wounds and performs post-operative wound care
  • Applies dressings, casts, splints, braces, etc.
  • Performs minor surgical procedures within scope of licensure.
  • Responsible for coordinating patient care between the office and the hospital, writing orders for surgical patients both pre and post operatively, and reporting the condition of care of hospitalized patients to the physician
  • Sees patients in the clinic both independently and with supervision. Dictates clinic progress notes. Orders appropriate tests and develops patient treatment plans with physician approval.
  • Performs joint aspirations/injections.
  • Interprets x-rays.
  • Applies casts, splints, braces, etc. under supervision of the physician.
  • Removes staples, sutures as needed
  • Assists in fielding/triaging physician calls.
  • Reviews lab results, x-rays, and MRI/CT results prior to entering patient exam room
  • Confers with physician regarding new patient findings and potential diagnosis and treatment.
  • Administers therapeutic injections and performs minor procedures as needed
  • Reviews pre-operative instructions and explains the surgical process to patients who are about to have surgery
  • Provides diagnosis and treatment services to established patients and postoperative patients
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, in accordance with physician protocols and ensures that all prescriptions and required notes are in patient?s medical record
  • Formulates and updates patient care plans; consults with physician as needed
  • Orders pre-operative tests, CT scans, and MRIs, and documents, utilizing the EHR software
  • Follows applicable ICD 10 and billing guidelines.
  • Returns patient phone messages at designated times throughout the day; follow through with appropriate action; documents action taken in patient chart.

Physical requirements

  • Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, as well as manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Employees will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Position requires lifting associated with patient transfers (up to 50 lbs.)
  • Normal visual acuity and hearing are required.
  • The employee will work under stressful conditions and work irregular hours.
  • The employee will be exposed to bodily fluids on a regular basis.
  • The employee will have frequent exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.

Educational Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program with completed residency.
  • Physician Assistant IL state licensure up to date

  • Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
  • Active Certification from NCCPA
  • Active Licensure as Physician?s Assistant in the State of Illinois

We are hiring for the Med Surg/Inpatient Rehab Unit. Experienced RNs and New Graduates with ADN, Diploma, and BSN qualifications are welcome to apply. Open RN positions offer:

Full-time 12-hour night shift
For a limited time eligibility for sign-on bonus ($20,000 for RN, $12,500
for new grads)
Benefits available starting the first month after your start date

As a nurse for our inpatient rehab unit at our destination rehab center, you will provide care to a variety of conditions and treatment plans including; stroke, neuro, spine, transplant and trauma rehab patients. This medical surgical nurse position performs assessments, administers medications, IV therapy, care planning and more while collaborating with various care team members including therapists, providers, and other ancillary departments. You will attend team meetings to ensure exceptional patient care amongst the entire care team.

The Shift: Full TimeNight shift (3, 12 hour shifts)

The Work:
  • Utilizes the nursing process.
  • Performs patient care
  • Delegates patient care tasks
  • Supervises other patient care staff.
  • Coordinates the plan of care for a group of assigned patients
  • Consults with other members of the health care team when indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrates proficiency and abides by policies rules guidelines and procedures.
To be successful in the position, you will need to be flexible, adaptable, open to feedback and eager to learn. Rehab experience is a plus, but not required. Experience with IV Medication, IV Therapy, Dialysis, Transplant or Neuro preferred, but not required. Strong communication with a desire to work with a care team to provide patient care is important. We are looking for a strong team player who is passionate about nursing and wants to develop relationships with their patients.

Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or Red Cross, Registered Nurse (KS) - National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NURSYS)
