Mercy Health St. Rita?s General Surgery in Lima, Ohio is seeking a certified physician assistant to join our busy general surgery practice. This provider will play a critical role in delivering high quality care to surgery patients across the continuum from initial evaluation through recovery.We offer a competitive income & benefit package.

Highlights:

• Serve as an integral member of the surgical team ? collaborating with surgeons, intensivists, emergency department physicians and nursing staff to provide exceptional patient care.
• Manage patients on the surgery service, perform clinical assessments, and participate in patient education and follow up care.
• PALS and ACLS
• Monday ? Friday work week including rounding 7 AM in hospital, respond to new floor consults and/or calls from hospital nursing staff regarding post op/follow up care.

o Two clinic days/week averaging 10-12 patients for post op care.

• Call: Assist general surgeon on weekend call 1-2 monthly.
• Experienced APCs and physicians will provide support and mentorship.
• Busy 407 bed regional referral center with a catchment area of 480,000.

Education and Skills Required:

• Current licensure with the state of Ohio as a PA-C.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Provider is responsible for rounding and managing the clinical care of the population at the assigned SNF.
• The provider is responsible for rounding daily and prescribing medications and treatments for residents residing at SNFs.
• Provider will provide high quality, patient-centered, comprehensive primary care services to patients residing in SNFs.
• Provider is responsible for timely documentation of all patient care/encounters
• The provider will be available for phone/secure messaging consultations with facility nursing staff.
• Provider documentation is completed in Theoria?s proprietary electronic health record (EHR) system, ChartEasy?.
• PointClickCare, MatrixCare, and American HealthTech are the most commonly used facility EHR systems.
• Provider is expected to be on-site on and on time for their in-person scheduled shifts.
• Timely attendance is imperative.
• Reliable transportation required.

Shift Structure

• Rounding time is 7AM-1PM local time, during which the provider must be available to nursing staff and address acute/emergent issues that arise.
• Shifts begin around 7AM local time with flexibility within reason.
• Shifts are daily Monday-Friday
• Charting/documentation can be completed off-site.
• This is an in-person position.

• Licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist by the New York State Education Department is required.
• American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) registration preferred.

• Performs quality ultrasound exams with the appropriate technical skills and according to the established procedure protocols.

• Dispenses medications by reviewing patient specific bulk medications and pyxis fills and refills for accuracy of the right medication, dose, dose form, strength, size, quantity to ensure accurate, timely and safe pharmaceutical care.
• Participates in process improvement teams within the department and organization to build strong relationships with staff members, demonstrates GFH core values and enhances financial viability.

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy from a pharmacy program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
