Position Overview: We have an open locum tenens opportunity for a board-certified or board-eligible Gastroenterology Physician in a highly regarded healthcare facility in southern Illinois, near Ashley. This role involves inpatient, call-only coverage, providing critical support to the community and assisting the existing medical team with specialized care.

Requirements:

Responsibilities:
- Inpatient Coverage: Hospital-based role with a mix of both general and specialized gastroenterology consults.
- Patient Volume: Approximately 10 patients per shift, with an average of 3 admissions.
- Rounding: Both inpatient rounding and admissions are required.
- Call Type: Beeper call with a 30-minute response time.
Skills & Procedures:
- Upper GI Procedures: Endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, bleeder cautery, variceal injection
- Advanced Skills: ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic), PEG insertion
- Lower GI Procedures: Colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy (flexible and rigid), polypectomy, small bowel and liver biopsy
- Additional Expertise: Endoscopic ultrasound, esophageal manometry, Sengstaken/Blakemore tube management
