POSITION OVERVIEW


We are seeking an energetic, driven, and experienced Shop Foreman to lead our production floor. This is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of our operation — the person who keeps all the moving parts in sync. You will serve as the primary liaison between the shop floor and our engineering, project management, finishing, and shipping/receiving departments, ensuring that every project is executed to the exacting standards our clients expect.

REPORTING STRUCTURE


Reports to: President and CFO

Directly Manages: Project Leads, Finishing Department Head, Shipping/Receiving Department Head, CNC Department Head

Collaborates With: Engineering, Drafting, and Project Management Department Head



CORE RESPONSIBILITIES


Production & Scheduling

•       Oversee and manage end-to-end production schedules from project award through final delivery, ensuring on-time completion across all active projects.

•       Coordinate manpower allocation, assigning work based on production schedules, available labor, and individual skill sets.

•       Monitor project progress daily, identify bottlenecks or risks early, and adjust plans proactively to keep projects on track.

•       Serve as the central hub of communication between the shop floor, engineering, project management, finishing, and shipping/receiving departments.


Leadership & Team Development

•       Lead, motivate, and inspire the fabrication team to perform at their best — setting the tone for a professional, positive, and high-accountability shop culture.

•       Champion strong attendance, adherence to company policy, and a sense of shared pride in the work we produce.

•       Identify and develop talent within the team; help build individual skill sets and career paths for shop staff.

•       Address performance concerns directly and constructively, implementing clear corrective action plans when needed.

•       Develop and maintain a comprehensive shop training program to ensure all staff are proficient on all equipment and production processes.


Quality Control

•       Develop, implement, and continuously improve a quality control program that ensures all work meets Traditional Woodworks’ exacting standards and project specifications.

•       Inspect products and processes at every stage of production to maximize both efficiency and quality.

•       Instill a culture where quality is everyone’s responsibility — not just a final check.


Safety & Compliance

•       Enforce all safety procedures and policies on the shop floor, including proper PPE usage, equipment operation standards, and environmental exposure protocols.

•       Develop and implement safety training programs and incident reporting procedures.

•       Lead a proactive safety culture — identifying and addressing hazards before they become incidents.


Equipment & Facilities

•       Develop and manage a weekly shop maintenance program to ensure all equipment operates safely and at peak performance.

•       Coordinate equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and the acquisition and integration of new machinery or tooling.

•       Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


•       Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in a professional woodshop setting, with a high level of proficiency in woodworking techniques, materials, and construction.

•       Minimum 3 years of direct supervisory or management experience, preferably in a woodworking or custom manufacturing environment.

•       Deep knowledge of wood species, engineered materials, sheet goods, hardware, joinery methods, and millwork assembly techniques.

•       Demonstrated ability to operate a wide variety of woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and skillfully.

•       Proven ability to read, interpret, and work from architectural drawings, shop drawings, and technical specifications.

•       Strong organizational skills with experience managing complex, multi-project production schedules.

•       Excellent communication skills — clear, honest, direct, and respectful.

•       Strong problem-solving ability; able to think on your feet and find practical solutions to technical and logistical challenges.

•       High level of accountability, integrity, and a genuine passion for quality craftsmanship.

•       Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform effectively under pressure.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


•       Experience in high-end architectural millwork, custom cabinetry, or finish carpentry.

•       Familiarity with CNC routing equipment and digital fabrication workflows.

•       Experience with production management or ERP/scheduling software.

•       Knowledge of OSHA standards and shop safety best practices.

Role Overview

We are seeking an Associate or Deputy General Counsel to serve as a trusted second-in-command to the General Counsel supporting our U.S. retail insurance brokerage operations. This is an exceptional opportunity to help shape a high-growth business, working closely with senior leadership in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. The Associate/Deputy General Counsel will take on significant day-to-day responsibilities and partner with the General Counsel to build a high-impact legal presence within the U.S. operations. This role requires a highly capable legal professional who can operate independently, step in for the General Counsel when required, and collaborate cross-functionally with global teams in M&A, Finance, and Litigation through our matrix structure.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Legal Partnership. The Associate/Deputy General Counsel will support the General Counsel in serving as a legal advisor to the U.S. retail insurance brokerage business, covering both specialty and retail insurance broking lines. This individual will act as a trusted advisor to the U.S. leadership team, contributing to business strategy, governance, and operational planning. The Associate/Deputy General Counsel will participate in executive-level discussions as appropriate, providing legal insight on commercial, regulatory, risk mitigation and structural matters.

Legal Operations & Governance. The Associate/Deputy General Counsel will assist in developing and implementing legal policies, procedures, and frameworks tailored to high-growth business model. This is a unique opportunity to create the practices, procedures and guardrails that will form the foundation for a newly stood up US insurance brokerage enterprise. This role will support U.S. governance structures and help ensure alignment with global standards. The individual will advise on regulatory, brokerage, licensing, and compliance across multiple states and lines of business.

Regulatory & Compliance Expertise. The Associate/Deputy General Counsel will help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as industry-specific regulations. This includes providing expertise in NAIC guidelines, state Departments of Insurance (DOIs), and relevant federal regulatory bodies. The individual will monitor evolving regulatory landscapes and proactively manage legal risk.

Litigation & Risk Management. The Associate/Deputy General Counsel will assist in managing U.S.-based litigation and disputes, coordinating with external counsel as needed. This individual will identify legal risks and develop mitigation strategies in partnership with business leaders. Deep understanding of operational risk of a US licensed insurance broker are required as this role will partner closely with the Chief Risk Officer, Chief Data Privacy Officer, and IT for the US business to build compliant systems that allow for fast, disciplined growth while remaining compliant with a complex web of legal and regulatory operational mandates.

Team Collaboration & Development. The Associate/Deputy General Counsel will work closely with the General Counsel to help build and mentor the U.S. legal team over time. This role will collaborate with existing legal colleagues in the region and leverage the broader Howden Group legal function.

Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will hold a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school and an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. The candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), with meaningful in-house counsel experience preferred. A strong background in U.S. insurance, commercial, and regulatory law is required with strong preference for those with experience from the broking or intermediary side. The candidate should possess deep knowledge of the insurance retail insurance brokerage landscape, especially regulatory frameworks for specialty and broking. Experience in private equity-backed businesses or similarly dynamic, fast-paced environments is highly valued. Experience working in a multinational or matrixed environment is also desirable.

The candidate should demonstrate strategic and operational leadership, excellent communication and negotiation skills, high integrity and sound judgment, the ability to work independently and collaboratively across time zones, and strong organizational and project management capabilities.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected base salary range for this role is $275,000 to $325,000, depending on experience and location.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with a 3.0 or higher graduating GPA; advanced degree is a huge plus
  • 0-2 years of experience in the (re)insurance industry
  • Actuarial exam(s) are a plus
  • A strong aptitude for analysis, database management and programming skills; those with a minor in computer science or have completed at least 2 programming classes are strongly preferred
  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Initiative and an eagerness to drive projects to a successful conclusion
  • Willing and able to act as a team player
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

This is an in-person opportunity based in New York, NY running from early June through early August 2026.
