Position Overview

Scouting America is seeking a skilled, analytical, and strategic partner to join our team as a Senior Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Analyst. This role serves as a key advisor to EVP leadership and Finance, delivering forward-looking financial insights, supporting collaborative planning efforts, and producing high-quality financial analyses that drive informed decision-making.


Working in close partnership with EVP leadership, this position leads the analysis, review, planning, and preparation of all financial activities supporting the fundraising function of Scouting America. The Senior FP&A Analyst plays a critical role in translating financial data into clear, actionable insights that inform strategic discussions and executive decisions.


Reporting to the VP, Financial Planning & Analysis, this role is responsible for developing and enhancing financial content for Board materials, management presentations, and ad hoc reporting, ensuring leadership has access to accurate, timely, and insight-driven analysis. Through proactive collaboration, strong financial acumen, and rigorous preparation of deliverables, this position helps anticipate challenges, identify opportunities, and guide leadership in achieving operational and strategic objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Leads the expansion and adoption of Workiva to build, maintain, and enhance Board decks, committee materials, and financial reports, improving efficiency, accuracy, and reporting consistency.
  • Responds to leadership requests for financial data, analysis, and research, and supports discussions on financial impacts and financial performance across the organization.
  • Designs and maintains financial planning and costing models; compiles and tracks key budget data; and ensures compliant, timely submission of budgets into Hyperion, including revisions as needed.
  • Monitors spending and conducts regular financial reviews to assess trends, variances, and future funding needs, providing recommendations to improve expense management and resource allocation.
  • Enhances cross‑department collaboration to ensure accurate, timely, and strategically aligned financial inputs.
  • Works closely with Accounting to identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies and issues, ensuring accurate financial results and timely completion of all reporting
  • Improves financial processes and controls by identifying efficiency opportunities and implementing enhancements across planning, reporting, and forecasting activities.
  • Supports system optimization initiatives, contributing to improvements in Hyperion, Workiva, and related financial planning tools.
  • Partners closely with the EVP of Development and the broader fundraising leadership team, providing high‑quality financial analysis, strategic insights, and budget guidance that strengthen donor strategies, resource planning, and investment decisions.
  • Serves as Development’s financial conscience, ensuring financial integrity by highlighting risks and opportunities, reinforcing sound fiscal judgment, and promoting data‑driven decision‑making across all fundraising initiatives.
  • Consults with Development leadership to develop and manage long‑term financial plans, financial models, reviewing financial results for accuracy and alignment with organizational standards.

  • Knowledge of: Demonstrates deep FP&A expertise in forecasting, planning, and financial reporting, with the ability to evaluate fundraising financials, campaign performance, and donor‑related cost drivers to guide strategic decision‑making. Maintains awareness of broader fundraising, industry, and market trends that influence development priorities and organizational performance.
  • Skill in: Skilled in building, maintaining, and analyzing complex financial models using Workiva or similar platforms, with strong capabilities in accurate budget forecasting, scenario planning, trend identification, and problem‑solving. Demonstrates clear and effective communication with stakeholders at all levels, maintains precise and reliable financial records, consistently meets deadlines in fast‑paced environments, and empowers and motivates teammates to achieve high‑performance outcomes.
  • Ability to: Demonstrates the ability to make informed decisions and negotiate effectively with stakeholders, adapt quickly to changing or unforeseen circumstances, manage time efficiently, and prioritize, delegate, and direct the budget workflow and process to ensure smooth and timely execution.


Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited college or university.


Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in finance or a related discipline, with substantial responsibility for financial planning and analysis supporting fundraising/philanthropic functions.
  • Must pass a criminal history background check.


Preference

  • MBA or equivalent
  • Hands‑on experience with Workiva, Hyperion, or similar enterprise reporting, workflow, or financial automation platforms.
