About the Role:
As a Pediatric Home Health Occupational Therapy Assistant, you’ll bring therapy into the comfort of a child’s home—where real-life skills are learned best! From improving fine motor skills to enhancing sensory processing, you’ll empower children to reach their full potential in everyday activities. An OTA will treat children's gross and fine motor skills, cognitive abilities, social development, and mastery of self-care routines and activities of daily living.
We serve the beautiful state of Colorado. All our therapists have the freedom to decide the specific locations within the State of Colorado which they serve, as well as the days and hours they work. We do offer telemedicine options for families under specific circumstances. All employees must be located in the State of Colorado upon start date.
What You’ll Do:
Provide play-based, goal-oriented therapy for children with developmental and medical needs under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist.
Implement treatment plans designed to help children build life skills, confidence, and independence.
Collaborate with families and caregivers to integrate therapy strategies into daily routines.
Deliver compassionate, one-on-one support in home and community settings.
Communicate effectively and consistently with supervising therapists, team members, service coordinators, translators, and administrative staff.
Assist in documenting progress notes, daily treatment logs, and discharge summaries per OASIS standards.
Maintain HIPAA compliance with all communication and documentation.
Participate in mandatory staff meetings and enjoy optional team bonding events to stay connected and informed.

Documentation Requirements
Treatment notes and discharges must be completed within 2 days of a visit.
Missed visit notes must be completed weekly according to the established schedule.
All notes are reviewed and co-signed by the supervising occupational therapist.
License & Training Requirements
Current DORA and NBCOT certification as a COTA.
Completion of state-mandated continuing education per DORA requirements.
Maintain current CPR certification.
Report any DUI, misdemeanor, or felony convictions or accusations to OASIS.

The first $10,000 will be paid upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy, with the remaining $10,000 awarded for accepting a prioritized location such as Sierra Blanca, Presidio, Sanderson, Comstock, Freer or Hebbronville, TX; Lordsburg, NM; or Ajo, AZ.

Duty Locations
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Duty assignments available at the time of offer may include the Southwest Border, including prioritized locations.

Duty location impacts pay rates; locality pay for federal law enforcement is higher in some locations than others. Duties and Responsibilities
As a BPA, you will be part of our 60,000+ workforce that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation’s economic prosperity. Being a BPA makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) profession.
Typical assignments include:
- Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and custom laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
- Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions to include using infrared scopes during night operations
- Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband
- Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks
- Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles for the accomplishment of the USBP Mission.
Qualifications
You qualify for the GL-5 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One (1) year of general work experience that demonstrates the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through classroom training and/or on-the-job instruction; and the ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and examination of documents and records; OR
Education Substitution: A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR
Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of general work experience AND successfully completed college education. This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.
You qualify for the GL-7 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One year of specialized work experience that shows you have the skills necessary to:
- Make sound judgments and decisions in the use of firearms.
- Deal effectively with people in a courteous and tactful manner in connection with law enforcement matters.
- Analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions where you will be expected to make arrests after the completion of required training and apply these skills in a law enforcement capacity such as criminal code enforcement, determining violations of laws, correctional or rehabilitation work involving criminal offenders, security, military, etc.
The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with people in a courteous manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions; or develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.
Education Substitution for the GL-7 grade level: A bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average (i.e., GPA of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0), or (3) honor society membership. Or will receive a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. Or one full year of graduate-level education in a field of study related to law enforcement (e.g., criminal justice, homeland security, justice studies, law enforcement, courts and judicial systems, forensic technology, forensic psychology, or corrections and rehabilitation) from an accredited college or university; OR
A Combination of Experience and Education: This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.

Acquisitions appropriate equipment, checks equipment being used for safety, and communicates the evaluation, treatment procedures and the use of the specific equipment to patient and family.
Applies or supervises appropriate treatments or modalities such as therapeutic exercises, hot moist packs, cryotherapy, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, continuous passive motion, paraffin, soft tissue mobilization, gait training, balance training and functional mobility training.
Checking frequently with patient for tolerance of modality given.
Maintains contact with the referring physician regarding patient progress.
Observes treatment effects & recommends changes to physician if indicated.
Assembles, organizes home programs for patients whenever indicated.
Explains the program to patient, asking for return demonstrations and trains the family whenever indicated.
Directs and oversees PT Assistants and Rehabilitation Assistants during physical therapy treatments.
Participates with on-the-job training of rehabilitation personnel.
Maintains records of all patient treatments as required, information must include but is not limited to, subjective & objective information, assessment and plan for each treatment given or specific documentation for a specific area in which the therapy if provided.
The Physical Therapist approves and co-signs every progress note written by a PT/PT Assistant with temporary licensure.
The Physical Therapist completes the discharge summary and sends them to the referring physician if indicated.
Promotes the team approach to delivery of rehabilitation services, while serving as a representative in the field of Physical Therapy.
In collaboration with the rehabilitation team, develops and implements measures for quality assurance and participates in performance improvement activities.
Maintains professional competence through continuing education and participation in appropriate professional groups.
Obtains professional continuing education requirements to maintain licensure.
Ensures charges correlate with treatment session documentation and length of time in therapy.
Maintains productivity standards.
Requirements: Education: Doctorate, Masters, Bachelors or Associates Degree in Physical Therapy.
Experience: Demonstrates accountability and skills in assessment/evaluation, decision-making and time management.
Should have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
Certifications, Registrations, or Licenses: Current New Mexico Physical Therapist licensure BLS certification required.
