Responds to complaint calls in order of priority to, set traps, capture loose, stray, sick, injured, or abandoned animals; investigate animal abuse, neglect, and/or nuisance.

Conducts general investigations of animal related problems including, but not limited to animal cruelty and neglect, aggressive and dangerous dogs, animals running at-large, barking, permitting, licensing and impounding of animals all which may involve hostile, irate or distressed members of the public, in a tactful, professional and effective manner.

Patrols an assigned zone in order to identify/capture stray animals, responds to calls/complaints, and enforces animal care ordinances; captures a variety of animals in order to protect the community and to protect animals from injury/death.

Apprehends and confines stray, injured, aggressive/dangerous and nuisance animals in the most safe, humane and approved manner possible. Transports animals to sheltering facility and/or veterinary clinic.

Under general supervision, enforces city/state ordinances governing citizen ownership of animals within the City; enforces regulations regarding stray, nuisance and dangerous animals; investigates reports of animal cruelty, abandonment and patrols assigned areas; collects and transports animals to the Shelter. This position receives direction from higher level police supervisory/management staff.
Position Snapshot: The Animal Services Officer (ASO) is another "face of the Fontana Police Department." This is a uniformed position that works a 10-hour shift, both in the field and in the office. While driving an assigned work vehicle, the incumbent will communicate via the in-car computer or radio during their shift to respond to and complete calls for service. ASOs assist citizens and officers after being trained in methods for interacting with an array of animals. ASOs are entrusted to work independently, within a team environment, and to communicate with the public in a productive manner. Writing detailed reports, testifying in court, and being on-call are all requirements of the position. This all makes for a fulfilling and exciting work experience that won't leave you bored or short of challenges.

Essential Functions

The incumbent must have the ability to:

• Patrol assigned areas of the City in City vehicle; capture wild, stray, and unlicensed animals for impounding; remove and transport dead and injured animals; under emergency conditions, destroy dangerous or grossly injured animals in the field using euthanasia procedures or arrange for proper destruction.
• Investigate complaints from the public and other agencies regarding animals that are stray, uncontrolled, abused, dangerous, wild or diseased; investigate animal bites, arrange for proper identification and quarantining; approve and monitor home quarantine of biting animals in accordance with regulations.
• Explain laws and regulations to the public relating to the care and control of animals, filing of complaints, and the operations and authorities of the animal shelter.

• Assist other agencies and City departments in animal control and handling, including searches, evictions and other emergencies.

Animal Care Technician

Performs animal husbandry and health care in accordance with experimental protocol and Animal Welfare Act/Regulations, NIH Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, Guide for the Care and use of Agricultural Animals in Research and Teaching, Veterinary Sciences standard operating procedures, and the fundamental requirements for AAALAC accreditation. In addition, this individual assists with scientific procedures in accordance with study protocols, completes and maintains appropriate documentation associated with all job assignments, and provides equipment sanitation and facility maintenance. This individual will work in an animal research laboratory setting under Biosafety conditions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Complies with applicable regulations and company policies. Documents and maintains records of animal care, preventive medicine, USDA-required, and study protocol-driven documents. Provides animal husbandry and care including provision of feed, water, and enrichment materials. Maintains, adjusts, and repairs animal pens, feeders, drinking systems, and livestock handling equipment. Performs cleaning and sanitation of animal rooms and equipment.
• Recognizes when animals are sick, distressed or otherwise abnormal and communicates these observations to the Site Veterinarian or Group/Team Leader. Conducts daily animal health and welfare assessments.

Requirements:

• This position requires a High School diploma or equivalent degree (GED) and a minimum of two (2) years experience in a related field. Such fields may include livestock handling, husbandry, and healthcare, veterinary clinical assistance, and/or scientific animal research. This related experience may be obtained concurrent with the diploma/degree.
• This person should either already possess or be willing to obtain Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification, preferably within 12 months of employment. Certification timelines will be dependent upon prior education and experience.

Job Summary:

This individual will perform daily laboratory animal care duties including animal health monitoring, animal husbandry, and routing cleaning and sanitation. All work assignments will be performed accordance with SOP’s and protocol instructions. Must maintain and demonstrate positive working relationships with co-workers, customers, be able to work independently to perform tasks, and have regular attendance.

The essential duties and responsibilities:

• Performs animal husbandry duties to maintain quality and health of research animals to include daily feed/water/enrichment, and cage or room cleaning as required.

• Maintains focus on animal welfare reporting all concerns to management and/or others as required.

• Must ensure animal welfare guidelines are met, building, and equipment are maintained accordingly for internal IACUC inspections and maintenance of AAALAC accreditation.

• Conducts all euthanasia as trained according to AVMA guidelines and completing all documentation associated with the task.

• Cleans assigned animal rooms, isolator environments, animal care equipment, and associated animal facility areas daily.

• Ensures facility areas are maintained and kept clean and orderly daily.

• Assists in maintaining and stocking inventory and communicates when items are needed to be ordered.

• Excellent record keeping skills are required.

• Assists with handling and manipulations as per SOP’s and protocols.

• Operates equipment and uses supplies according to safety guidelines, performs general housekeeping, and adheres to safety procedures.

• Able to observe equipment and report of any failures.

• Maintains required attendance level and adheres to work schedule in accordance with required staffing levels to ensure that assigned duties are completed. Weekend and holiday coverage is required on a rotation basis. May be asked to work extended hours occasionally due to workload – Overtime eligible. Being prompt to work and attendance are a must.

• Takes the initiative to complete tasks and anticipates upcoming tasks.

• Must realize the importance of non-contamination process and be prepared to adhere strictly to the procedures.

• Must be conscientious, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work alone.

Job Qualifications

• Education – AA degree required

• Experience – Lab Animal or agricultural experience desired

Ability to lift 50lbs, roll heavy objects, use ladders, working conditions up to 90 degrees or down to freezing temperatures.

Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Must be able to squat, bend, and stoop, as well as twisting and turning.

Manual dexterity and visual acuity are important.

Subject to objectionable odors, aerosols, dust, animal dander, and noise.

Not allowed to own poultry or swine

Multiple showers a day may be required for biocontainment, showering does include washing of hair.

Hair must be able to be completely covered within hairnet for biocontainment purposes.

Nails must be short in length to perform fine motor tasks and avoid risk of injury to oneself, colleagues, or animals.

Work requires use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including Tyveks, hairnets, respirator or PAPR, gloves, safety glasses, provided uniforms, and shoes.

Personal phones and all forms of jewelry are not allowed in the vivarium.

This position will focus on overall animal care and welfare, production and selection for customer orders, facility upkeep and recordkeeping and procedural duties. Responsibilities:

• Compensation is determined by several factors which may include skillset, experience level, and geographic location. The expected range for this role is $28.00 to $35.00 per hour. Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.

We are looking for a tech-savvy help desk technician to be responsible for providing technical assistance with computer systems, hardware, and software. As a help desk technician, you are responsible for responding to email, chat, or phone queries and offering technical support to customers using computer systems, hardware, and software.

To be a successful help desk technician, you should be well-versed in all aspects of computer systems configuration, set up, and maintenance. You should also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
