Area 2:

Applied microeconomics focusing on health care, labor, productivity, and equity. The candidate would work at the Haas School of Business under the supervision of Economic Analysis & Policy (EAP) Professor, David Chan.

General Duties:



* Research Design & Methodology: Participate in all stages of the research process, from literature reviews and hypothesis formulation to the design and interpretation of econometric analyses. This includes applying methods of causal inference and structural or reduced-form econometrics.



* Data Lifecycle Management: Manage, manipulate, and clean large-scale datasets. Identify and resolve technical problems or coding errors to ensure data integrity from ingestion to analysis.



* Technical Programming: Write efficient, collaborative, and replicable computer code to implement analyses. Maintain version-controlled codebases that facilitate team collaboration and project transparency.



* Documentation & Replication: Maintain rigorous documentation of all work. Lead the creation of comprehensive replication packages and technical appendices to ensure research findings are verifiable.



* Output & Publication: Assist in the preparation of research manuscripts and project reports. Design and generate high-quality tables, graphs, and visualizations for publication.



* Project Coordination: Facilitate project momentum by running team meetings and monitoring statistical deliverables to ensure they meet quality assurance standards.

About the Position

Community Service Officers provide support and assist sworn and non-sworn staff in a variety of non-emergency situations that do not require police officer authority. Responsible for providing a range of duties to enhance the community livability of the City of Corvallis including animal control, minor investigations, and providing community education. Perform other related duties that are not traditionally the work of sworn officers.


All Community Service Officers perform the following essential duties in support of sworn and non-sworn employees. Essential Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Use community policing techniques such as community education, problem-solving, presence in assigned areas using a motor vehicle, bicycle, or while on foot.

  • Document actions in reports as required. Coordinate prosecution with attorneys. Present coherent and persuasive testimony on behalf of the City at trial.
  • Assist in administrative duties, such as completing forms, gathering and transporting materials, data entry or other similar support activities.
  • Assist sworn staff with traffic control, exchange of information, completion of forms and processing scenes at traffic crashes.
  • Respond to traffic hazards and disabled vehicles to alleviate the situation or request sworn officers as necessary.
  • Respond with physical force for self-defense or defense of other persons as allowed by law.
  • Apprehend, remove, and transport stray, injured, and nuisance domestic and wild animals. Provide basic animal first aid as required. Perform euthanasia of animals as necessary, consistent with law, policy, and good animal husbandry.
  • Conduct dangerous animal, cruelty to animal and animal bite investigations. May seize and impound animals. Provide recommendation to the court if animals should be designated as dangerous.
  • Patrol community for violations of animal control laws and potential problems. Issue citations for animal code offenses.
  • May be assigned to train CSO recruits, including instruction and application of laws, department rules and policies, proper use and maintenance of equipment, and proper safety techniques.Evaluate and report progress of CSO recruits.
  • Operate and drive a motor vehicle safely and legally.

Job Summary

The Scheller College of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, seeks applications for a research-focused Postdoctoral Fellow in Information Technology Management (ITM). The initial appointment is for one year and may be renewed for up to two years, depending on satisfactory performance. The postdoc can begin as soon as January 2026 or as late as August 2026 we are happy to accommodate the timeline that works best for the selected candidate.

The role involves close collaboration with the ITM area faculty on mutually selected research projects. Two preferred areas of focus for our group are:

Studying the application of LLMs in online multisided platforms, such as the design and optimization of LLM-powered advertising mechanisms, and strategic interaction between platform participants. We are particularly interested in how LLMs influence user engagement, attention allocation, and economic outcomes on digital platforms, including auction-based advertising markets and dynamic information environments.

Developing economic frameworks for data valuation and privacy in business applications, including topics such as federated learning, copyright-preserving generative models, data marketplace pricing, and incentive-compatible privacy mechanisms. This line of research aims to connect information economics, machine learning algorithms, and market design, to address practical concerns in decentralized data governance, trustworthy machine learning, and platform strategy.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include :

  • Work on high-impact research projects, from conceptualization, data collection, and data analysis to manuscript preparation and publication.
  • Teach one 3-credit course each year.
  • Perform related services based on the needs of the ITM area


Required Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in information systems, economics, management science, computer science, statistics, operations, or other related quantitative and/or social science domains
  • The degree must completed by the position start date. For example, ABD (All but dissertation) candidates must have successfully defended their dissertation no later than July 1, 2026 for an August 1, 2026 start date.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in machine learning, generative models and LLM.

Position description

The Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley is seeking highly motivated individuals for the position of Junior or Assistant Specialist. The positions are to assist in research in economic development, labor, and health economics, applying rigorous methods for causal inference and machine learning .

General Duties:




  • Research Design & Analysis (20%): Assist in designing and interpreting analyses using advanced econometric methods, including reduced form approaches (difference-in-differences, regression discontinuity, instrumental variables) and structural econometrics (method of moments, maximum likelihood, dynamic programming), with a focus on causal inference.
  • Data Collection & Field Operations (15%): Support the design and implementation of field experiments, survey development, and primary data collection activities; monitor data quality and coordinate with field teams to ensure research protocols are followed.
  • Data Management & Programming (20%): Write efficient, well-documented code to manipulate large datasets and implement complex analyses; maintain data infrastructure using collaborative and replicable programming practices.
  • Quality Assurance & Documentation (15%): Clean and validate data, identify and resolve technical issues with datasets or code, and maintain comprehensive documentation of all research procedures and analytical decisions.
  • Research Communication (10%): Prepare materials for research manuscripts, project reports, and presentations; generate publication-ready tables, graphs, and visualizations that effectively communicate findings.
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing (20%): Work closely with faculty, research team members, and external collaborators to advance ongoing analyses, share methodological expertise, and contribute to the broader research agenda.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities




  • Decision making: Responsible for making decisions surrounding vehicle diagnostics and repair

  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including: standard vehicle maintenance, preventive maintenance, complex repairs with minimal (if any) support

  • Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents - Diagnoses and repairs complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal (if any) support, utilizing diagnostic computers/software when applicable

  • Performs remote triage to with RCRC and customers to determine best solution to assist roadside breakdowns

  • Performs facility maintenance duties

  • Interacts with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task

  • Instructs and advises other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics

  • Interact with non-contractual customers, exhibit account management skills to independently facilitate preventative maintenance, repair issue resolution, and discuss new repair estimates with customer. Coordinate work schedule as required by customers. Road test vehicles to identify cause of complaints for repairs, ensure quality of repair work performed, and deliver customer satisfaction.

  • Preventive maintenance (PM) and vehicle repairs responsibilities include but is not limited to:

  • A/C & Heater: Operate the system and recognize if the system is cooling or not (PM related); Perform system checks such as power to compressor, visual inspection of condenser, belt tension, etc; Identify Freon and oil leaks

  • Brakes-Air: Identify components of air brake system; Operate brakes and identify irregular noises, air leaks; Perform simple air system tests; Measure lining thickness; Adjust brakes; Perform air brake sections of P.M.; Measure drums, rotors, cam bushings Perform brake repairs per (BA298) once trained and qualified

  • Brakes-Hydraulic: Road test for proper operation; Make visual inspections for leaks; Check park brake operation; Check fluid level; Measure lining thickness; Adjust service brakes; Perform brake repairs per (BH298) once trained and qualified; Adjust park brakes

  • Cargo Handling/Transfer, Liftgates: Identify leaks; Operate lift gate; Identify make and model; Add fluid to bring to proper level; Make minor adjustments to lift platform and its controls; Identify basic malfunctions

  • Charging Systems (electrical): Visually inspect batteries; Clean connections; Check condition of belts; Test batteries; Check alternator mounting and pulley; Replace and adjust belts; Perform basic charging system check

  • Clutch: Lubricate throw-out bearing, linkage, shafts, and cables; Identify proper clutch operation; Identify proper clutch brake operation

  • Cooling Systems: Check and adjust coolant levels; Visually inspect system for leaks; Make minor repairs such as hose replacements, fan shrouds, leaking fittings; Recognize permanent antifreezes and their requirements; Use refractometer; Use pressure tester; Flush and refill systems

  • Cranking System (electrical): Inspect and test batteries; Visually inspect cables and cranking motor; Clean the battery cables, connections and starter; Replace batteries; Charge and check batteries; Replace or repair defective cables

  • Lighting System and Electrical Accessories: Repair minor wiring problems; Replace bulbs, lenses and simple light assemblies; Repair minor lighting problems; Replace and adjust sealed beams; Install or replace accessories such as heated mirrors, fans, spotlights

  • Drive Axles: Inspect housings for leaks; Change oil and filter, if required, and clean breathers

  • Driveline: Lubricate drive line; Inspect components for wear or damage

  • Gas Engines-All Engines: Check and adjust oil levels; Identify unusual noises, and oil leaks

  • Fuel Systems: Replace and prime fuel filter; Check gas and diesel fuel system components such as fuel lines, pickup tubes, return lines, etc, for proper integrity and condition
