We are seeking an ambitious, energetic, and goal-oriented Production & Harvesting Lead to oversee and coordinate small team units at our indoor mushroom farm. Hedgehog Foods is a premium mushroom producer supplying high-quality specialty mushrooms to grocery stores and food distributors. This role is vital in ensuring efficient operations, maintaining strict food safety and quality standards, and leading a team of workers to meet production and harvesting goals. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with production equipment, and a passion for leading teams in a fast-paced agricultural manufacturing environment. As a key leader, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives and help ensure our mushrooms meet the quality expectations of retail and distribution partners.
Duties

• Supervise daily production and harvesting activities, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule to meet orders from grocery and distribution partners
• Log data into digital systems as well as read, monitor, and react to equipment signals
• Coordinate with team members to optimize workflow across harvesting, packaging, and processing stations
• Operate and oversee the use of tractors, mixers, power tools, hand tools, and other production equipment safely and effectively
• Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to identify maintenance needs or potential safety hazards
• Lead training sessions for team members on equipment operation, safety protocols, food-grade handling practices, and best practices in mushroom cultivation and harvesting
• Maintain accurate records of production output, inventory levels, quality checks, and safety incidents
• Support warehouse operations by managing material movement, cold storage handling, and inventory control for products destined for grocery retailers and food distributors
• Ensure harvested mushrooms meet company quality standards and packaging specifications required by retail and wholesale customers

Skills

• Proven experience working in a manufacturing, agricultural production, or food processing facility with structured workflows
• Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues quickly and efficiently
• Familiarity with factory and food safety standards and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
• Ability to operate power tools, hand tools, and production equipment confidently
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team under tight deadlines
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating tasks across production, packaging, and distribution teams
