Position Overview:
As a Mechanical Designer, you will play a critical role in developing next-generation DC Fast Charging systems for electric vehicles. This position focuses on designing robust, efficient, and manufacturable mechanical solutions for high-power electronics and energy storage systems. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in electronics packaging, thermal management, and structural design with a strong focus on design documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Innovative Design:
- Design components for battery-integrated DC fast chargers and lab test equipment
- Fabricate and assemble prototype parts for design validation
- Documentation:
- Prepare detailed drawings of mechanical parts and electrical wiring harnesses
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) for new and existing products
- Initiate and manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for controlled documents, specifications, and work instructions
- Manufacturing Support:
- Resolve manufacturing/quality issues for parts and assemblies in production
- Design production test equipment and assembly aides
- Support production line setup
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years’ experience in electronics packaging design
- Extensive design experience using PTC Creo Parametric CAD software package
- Understanding of the applications of ASME Y14.5
- Demonstrated success in designing for sheet metal, extrusion & injection molding processes
- Experience with mechanical fabrication in a lab environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Bonds optical elements into mechanical housings and prepares RTV rubber compounds, epoxies, and UV cements in accordance with directions provided. Places elements in housing and centers using mechanical centering tools such as pins and shims. Utilizes existing set-ups of auto collimation, zygo machine and other optical alignment equipment during assembly build. Measures and records step heights between optics and housing.
Performs visual, continuity, pressure, leak, in-process checks as may be required to verify completed work.
Performs tapping, reaming, scraping, filing, lapping, adjusting, collimating and measuring.
Fabricates simple wire harnesses, assemblies, and subassemblies of electrical, electronic, electro-mechanical, and electro-optical devices.
Performs simple fabrication and assembly operations utilizing microscopes, drill presses, pin presses, torque wrenches, soldering and de-soldering tools, various hand tools, simple measuring instruments and continuity buzzers.

The OTE for this position is $220,000. The salary range for this position is $22.67/hour-$32.42/hour. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.
Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for performing a variety of non-routine and non-repetitive assembly operations on electronic and /or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies. Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing assembly tasks such as wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units. Makes continuity checks on work in process and completed work. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with control procedures. This position is for the second shift.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assembles components, assemblies or sub-assemblies.
- Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to specifications.
- May perform duties as required in assembly of electronic equipment such as cables, harnesses, chassis, and printed circuit boards; or may perform mechanical assembly of panels, LRU's, batteries, and servo motors as it pertains to cable assembly.
- May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble and test experimental/prototype assemblies or subassemblies according to specifications.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Completes Disposition on Nonconforming product when needed.
- Participates in production Integrated Process Team (IPT)
- Communicates/works with engineering and other support departments.
- Participates/runs weekly cell team meeting.
- Mentors team members in assigned cell.
- Assist team/assemblers in building and solving technical issues of cable assembly.
- Additional Functions:
- Performs 5S housekeeping and cleanup duties upon completion of assigned tasks
- Supports Clean-as-you-go cleanup duties during the shift.
- May train lower level assemblers or act as a lead and direct the work of others.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Job Qualifications
- Typical requires a high school diploma or equivalent and seven or more years experience.
- Must be customer focused and possess:
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawing and wire lists.
- Extensive knowledge in specialized functions.
- A comprehensive understanding of the general and specific aspects and technical phase of the job and their practical to complex applications to intricate problems.
- Good knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the position.
- Familiarity with use of soldering and compression connection tools.
- Good visual perception and ability to distinguish between colors.
- The ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearance is required.

ResponsibilitiesWhat You'll Do:
- Growth Strategy
- Work with the leadership team to develop and implement a comprehensive revenue growth strategy aligned with our growth goals.
- Lead the creation and execution of marketing plans to enhance awareness of language strategy and attract new clients.
- Manage marketing and business development teams, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and innovation. Current team includes:
- Account Services Director: Responsible for new business activities including outreach, proposals, and ensuring all offerings get in the hands of our clients, prospects, and agency partners
- Marketing and Content Manager: Responsible for execution of marketing tactics

The range below represents the low and high end of the base salary someone in this role may earn as an employee of maslansky + partners in New York City. Salaries will vary based on various factors including but not limited to professional and academic experience, training, associated responsibilities, and other business and organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees. Salary decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each hire.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $180,000 - $220,000. In addition, this position is also eligible for an annual sales incentive.
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and other benefits also are available.
