Job Summary and Qualifications- Scrubs cases as it relates to the unit scope of care
- Dons appropriate attire required by hospital and OSHA policies.
- Able to create and maintain a sterile field. Able to scrub all cases, anticipate needs of the surgeon, and precept staff and students.
- Demonstrates knowledge of surgical anatomy and understanding of instrumentation and procedures.
- Does not divert attention from the operative field. Able to anticipate basic needs of surgeon/assistant.
- Able to anticipate when to initiate closing counts.
- Labels all medications on the sterile field.
- Demonstrates a complete knowledge of instrumentation/sequence of procedure.
- Able to scrub independently on small to moderate and specialty cases.
- Able to anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
- Assists the Registered Nurse with circulating duties
- Organizes the operating room with instruments, supplies, and equipment needed for the day.
- Shows knowledge of circulating components/responsibilities as evidenced by completion of skills checklist.
- Able to assist primary circulator in his/her role.
- Able to place cautery dispersive electrode on appropriate body parts knowing to check bony prominences; and for metal implants/assess need for shaving at bovie site.
- Applies principles of standard and transmission based precautions.
- Helps maintain a safe environment for personnel and patients.
- Assists primary circulator to ensure smooth flow in the O.R.
- Assumes responsibility to check the following cases of the day for accuracy and location of needed instrumentation.
- Obtains needed medications from drug cart and pharmacy for circulator.
- Able to independently perform preps.
- Exercises sound judgement and decision making skills on behalf of patient, self, and peers
- Identifies potential problems and critical situations involving patients, staff and visitors.
- Intervenes in a professional manner.
- Demonstrates the ability for making appropriate clinical decisions and maintains accountability for decisions made.
- Is aware of personal abilities and limitations and the knowledge of when to seek assistance from appropriate persons.
- Skills checklist is up-to-date. Makes recommendations for improving the function of the unit and follow through.

What qualifications you will need:
Graduate from an accredited surgical technology program - Required
3+ years of experience in Surgical Technology - Preferred

Duties Responsibilities
Progressive Care Nurses (PCU) care for patients requiring close monitoring and frequent assessment, but who aren't unstable enough to need ICU care. PCU nurses monitor cardiac and other critical vital signs and detect any changes, thereby enabling intervention of life-threatening or emergency situations. Many PCU patients receive complex medications that may require titration based on the patient’s vital signs The PCU nurse is sometimes also called a step-down nurse and the PCU is also known as cardiac step-down, medical step-down, neuro step-down, surgical step-down and ER holding.
- Monitor and assess patients who aren't unstable enough to need ICU care.
- Utilize computer equipment to monitor cardiac and other vital information and detect any changes, thereby enabling intervention of life-threatening or emergency situations.

As part of the telemetry unit, Telemetry Nurses (RN) provide care by connecting patients to machines that measure heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, as well as blood-oxygen levels and electrocardiogram information. These machines then send data to computer screens for nurses to monitor. Telemetry Nurses read and interpret the data to better determine patient care.

- Active RN License
- Degree from accredited nursing program
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS AWHONN Certifications
- Eighteen months of recent experience in an Acute Care Labor and Delivery (L&D) setting
- Other requirements to be determined by our client facility

Duties Responsibilities
Labor and Delivery Nurses (RN), also called perinatal nurses, provide care and support for women before, during and after delivery of the baby. They are responsible for making sure that the medical as well as the emotional needs of the patient are adequately met throughout the entire birthing process.
- Labor and Delivery (LD) nurses provide care to women and their newborns during the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and neonatal stages.
- Monitor vital signs of the mother and baby during birth.
- Monitor patients for potential high risk problems.
- Educate and support mothers and their families after giving birth.

Due to the broad range of medical conditions Med/Surg Nurses will encounter, they must be well-versed in a large variety of health conditions.
- Complete assignments made by physicians.
- Provide routine treatment and post-surgical care.
- Assess changes in patient's health status and perform various treatments.
- Administer medication.
- Meticulous documentation as to medication and treatment administration to ensure continuity of care between nursing staff, physicians and other treatment team members.
