Doctoral Student - Materials Modeling with AI
Job Description
Do you want to help design the next generation of materials used for batteries, space exploration or water purification? Are you interested in getting a PhD? A position is available in Prof. Jacob Gissinger's group at Stevens Institute of Technology ( ), for Fall 2026. The research will involve computational design of polymeric systems, such as polymer electrolytes, or high-performance polymers and composites for use in extreme environments.
Prerequisites
Applicant must not have a PhD. Applicant must hold a bachelor's degree before Fall 2026. American citizenship required for some projects.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in materials science, chemical engineering or related fields
- Programming skills in languages such as Python
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Background in computational materials science, machine learning and polymer engineering preferred
