As a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Modeling and Simulation Engineer, you will develop the physics-based models that enable rapid iteration and certification-grade validation of GNC software. You will perform simulation analysis and assess correlation with real-world data to demonstrate that the models are representative of the actual system.

Responsibilities

• Develop physics-based models representative of aircraft dynamics (aerodynamics, ground reactions, actuator models, etc.)

• Identify, request, and analyze flight tests necessary to inform modeling

• Conduct closed-loop testing of flight control systems with simulated aircraft dynamics

• Develop tools for visualizing and analyzing simulation and flight data

• Perform validation of simulation models against flight test data

Basic Success Criteria

• BS in aerospace engineering, robotics, or related field

• 5+ years experience with aerodynamics, flight dynamics simulation, and system identification

• Experience with Python, C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and Linux-based development environments and scripting

• Experience with developing validated physics-based models as well as integration and testing of these models

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Criteria

• MS or PhD in aerospace engineering, robotics, or related field

• Experience with high fidelity physics-based aircraft or other complex simulation systems

• Current pilot, instrument or commercial ratings

GNC Modeling and Simulation is a key company capability that enables rapid design iteration and scalable design validation covering the massive combinatorial space of flight envelope and atmospheric conditions. • Assist in defining Guidance, Navigation and Control mission requirements and ensure requirements traceability and quality from the system level to component level

Responsibilities

You will design, analyze, build, test, and fly a system of actuators, mechanisms, and structural modifications to enable remote piloted aircraft. Own your hardware from initial conception through flight test and certification...this is cradle-to-grave engineering with hands-on build, test, and integration. Lead cross-functional trades and drive performance and design decisions to closure. You will bring a sense of humility, and be ready to both learn and teach.

Basic Success Criteria

• BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent experience

• 5+ years professional experience developing mechanical systems

The Associate Project Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of GNC Product Development projects, including formulation review, flavor testing and approval, packaging specifications, label and artwork review, quality control documentation review, streamlining and optimizing product development processes, and ensuring timely completion of projects and tasks. • Manage all aspects of Product Development projects, including formulation review, flavor testing and approval, packaging specifications, label and artwork review, quality control documentation review, and identifying opportunities for process improvements.

The Effectors PG&C Center is currently hiring for a Sr. Systems Engineer - Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer position in Tucson, AZ to support execution of the portfolio of current and upcoming missile programs. As a Sr. Systems Engineer - Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer, you will play a critical role in helping with the evaluation, design, implementation, and integration of embedded software algorithms. You will collaborate with a team of engineers in an integrated product team that will be responsible for tactical embedded software, firmware, and integrated flight software 6 Degrees-of-Freedom simulations to achieve overall system performance requirements. This position is an onsite role located in Tucson, AZ. 

What You Will Do

• Development, integration, and testing of embedded tactical missile flight code

• Definition and execution of system level performance studies and analyses to inform the development and integration of new capabilities, refinement of existing capability, or to address obsolescence

• Work within an agile framework to lead development of backlogs, plans, and metrics

• Provide experience and guidance to help the program train new engineers and execute efficiently and effectively
