Supplier Quality Engineer
Tualatin, OR (On-site)
$80–$85/hour
Duration: 12 months contract on W2 with possible extensions
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Supplier Quality Engineer to support advanced product development in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing environment. This role focuses on supplier quality, technical problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure product performance and reliability throughout the lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive supplier quality and engineering activities across product lifecycle, with emphasis on new product introduction (NPI)
- Act as the primary technical liaison between suppliers and internal engineering teams
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions (RCCA) for complex quality issues
- Conduct supplier audits, process reviews, and on-site assessments to drive continuous improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product development, manufacturing, and field service
- Support development of components such as:
- Vacuum systems
- Actuators, bellows, and flowmeters
- Pneumatics and cable assemblies
- Precision measurement systems
- Provide DFM/DFA feedback to improve manufacturability, cost, and quality
- Apply statistical and quality tools (SPC, DOE, FMEA, 8D, 5 Whys) to drive improvements
- Manage supplier performance, timelines, and deliverables
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Materials, Chemical, or related)
- 5+ years of experience in:
- Supplier Quality Engineering
- Manufacturing or Quality Engineering
- Strong experience with:
- Root Cause Analysis (8D, 5 Whys)
- FMEA, SPC, DOE
- Supplier audits and process improvements
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects and stakeholders
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in:
- Semiconductor, aerospace, automotive, or similar high-tech industries
- Vacuum systems or precision equipment
- Knowledge of:
- Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC)
- Statistical tools such as Minitab or JMP
- Reliability engineering (Weibull analysis, Design for Reliability)
- Experience with supplier development and global supply chain environments
Work Environment
- On-site role in a collaborative, high-performance environment
- Travel required to supplier locations for audits and assessments
- Exposure to advanced manufacturing and cutting-edge technologies
