Position description
The Perlmutter Lab at UC Berkeley is seeking applications for an Assistant Researcher that specializes in the analysis of wide-field imaging and spectroscopic data from ground-based (e.g., Subaru/HSC) and space-based observatories (e.g., HST, JWST, and the recently announced Lazuli), as well as the design and planning of related observing programs.
The Assistant Researcher will be charged with performing independent research aimed at improving the precision and accuracy of observational cosmology experiments, namely those that rely on measuring luminosity distance with redshift, and particularly measurements of the expansion rate. The candidate will lead efforts to develop and/or adapt cutting-edge image analysis and statistical techniques for the purpose of improving the precision of such luminosity distance cosmology experiments, with a lean toward space-based datasets.
We expect the candidate to play a leadership role in this research, which is expected to require a small to mid-size research effort involving grad students and/or postdocs, and ideally multiple funding sources. They will present their research at inter/national conferences and publish work in peer-reviewed journals, either as lead author or in a mentorship role to others.
The Assistant Researcher's routes of inquiry would help advance key UC Berkeley cosmology initiatives, in part by bringing together a range of experts who can apply novel advanced statistical techniques not typically deployed in the field.

Supplier Quality Assurance Manager
Food Manufacturing
Location: Bolingbrook, IL
Package: $100,000 - $120,000 + 15%
Ever wondered what goes into your favorite restaurant meal, the chips on your table, or the seasoning that makes them irresistible? Behind every flavor, every texture, every bite β thereβs a complex supply chain working in harmony. And right now, that harmony needs a new conductor.
This business is one of the hidden giants of the food world β supplying ingredients, seasonings, and functional blends to the biggest names you know. With five U.S. manufacturing sites and a supplier base that spans thousands of raw materials, theyβre on a mission to raise the bar for supplier quality, consistency, and reliability.
Thatβs where you come in.
As Supplier Quality Assurance Manager, youβll take ownership of supplier performance across ingredients, packaging, and co-manufactured products. Youβll build the systems and relationships that keep quality risks low and customer confidence high β from auditing and qualification through to onboarding and ongoing improvement.
Youβll lead a small, capable team and play a hands-on role in driving how the business manages its suppliers day-to-day. Sometimes that means jumping on a plane to visit a grower in the desert or a packaging partner struggling to meet spec β seeing the challenge firsthand, and helping them fix it. Other times, itβs about building smarter systems, sharper metrics, and stronger accountability across a network of vendors that touches every part of production.
Whatβs exciting here is the transformation. The foundations are in place β modern quality systems, new technology, and strong executive support β but the potential is far greater. Youβll work closely with Procurement, R&D, and Operations, influencing how new ingredients are sourced, validated, and launched into the business. Itβs a blend of science, process, and partnership.
Youβll need solid experience in supplier quality assurance within U.S. food manufacturing, a working understanding of regulatory frameworks like FDA, USDA, or GFSI, and the confidence to build relationships that balance collaboration with accountability.
If youβre the kind of person who can spot a risk before it becomes a problem, who believes quality starts long before the factory floor, and who gets genuine satisfaction from helping suppliers and teams get it right β this is your opportunity to lead that charge.
Be First. Build Something Real.
At Avant-garde Health, we're changing the way hospitals understand and control the cost of surgical care β and we're backed by the customers, revenue, and financial stability to prove it's working. We're not a moonshot. We're a company that has earned its place in one of the most complex, high-stakes industries in the world.
Now we're looking for our first Sales Development Representative β someone who wants to be more than a cog in a giant sales machine. You'll report directly to our Director of Sales, learn the craft of enterprise healthcare sales from the ground up, and have a clear, achievable path to becoming a full Account Executive or building and leading the SDR team you helped create.
If you're competitive, curious, and want your work to actually matter β keep reading.
What You'll Do:
This is a real sales role, not a rΓ©sumΓ© filler. Every day you'll be on the front lines of our growth:
Prospect & Research β Use ZoomInfo, Definitive Health, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator to identify and build targeted lists of hospitals and health systems that need what we offer.
Pick Up the Phone β Execute structured outbound cold call campaigns. You'll learn how to open a conversation, ask the right questions, and earn the right to a meeting.
Write Sharp Outreach β Craft compelling email sequences in HubSpot that cut through the noise and get responses from CFOs, CMOs, and surgical directors.
Set Qualified Meetings β Your primary metric is booked meetings with the right people. Quality over quantity β we care about pipeline that converts.
Learn the Product Cold β You'll become fluent in the CMS TEAM program, bundled payment analytics, and surgical cost optimization. When prospects ask hard questions, you'll have real answers.
Collaborate with Leadership β As the first SDR, you'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with the Director of Sales, contributing to messaging, outreach strategy, and process building from day one.
Track Everything β Log all activity in HubSpot with precision. Clean data is a competitive advantage, and you'll treat it that way.
The Path Forward
Hit your goals consistently for a full year and you'll have a real choice in front of you:
- Promote into a full Account Executive role β Own your own territory and close six-figure enterprise deals
- Build and lead the SDR team β Hire, train, and manage the team you helped found
This isn't hypothetical. It's the plan.

- Some corporate or professional experience preferred β but if you're hungry, coachable, and can make a compelling case for yourself, we'll talk
- Strong communicator β written and verbal. You know how to be clear, confident, and concise
- Comfortable on the phone. Cold calls don't scare you
- Organized and self-directed β you manage your time and hit your numbers without someone standing over your shoulder
