Technical Sales Specialist – Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)


Location: Fremont, CA

Schedule: Full-time, onsite, Monday to Friday

Compensation: $85,000 – $100,000 base salary plus commission (approx. OTE Base + 20%)


Position Overview


We are seeking a Technical Sales Specialist to join its commercial team in Fremont, California. This is a fully onsite inside sales role that requires daily presence in the office to support team collaboration, sales execution, customer follow-up, and pipeline management.


This position is ideal for a sales professional who can confidently engage researchers and technical buyers while driving revenue through a disciplined inside sales process. The role is heavily focused on outbound business development, re-engaging previous customers, expanding existing relationships, and winning net-new accounts.


The successful candidate will be expected to proactively build pipeline, manage follow-up with urgency, and maintain a high level of sales activity using CRM platforms, LinkedIn, and other modern sales prospecting tools. This role requires someone who is organized, persistent, commercially driven, and able to translate scientific needs into sales opportunities.


Key Focus of the Role


  • Drive inside sales growth through high-volume outbound prospecting and follow-up
  • Reconnect with past and inactive customers to revive opportunities and generate new orders
  • Identify and secure new customers and new revenue opportunities
  • Maintain strong office-based sales discipline, including quoting, forecasting, CRM hygiene, and internal coordination
  • Support a consultative sales process by understanding both scientific requirements and commercial timelines


Responsibilities


  • Conduct daily inside sales outreach by phone, email, LinkedIn, CRM workflows, and other lead generation tools
  • Prospect and qualify new business opportunities across relevant target accounts
  • Re-engage former customers, dormant accounts, and older relationships to uncover renewed demand and restore account activity
  • Build and manage a healthy pipeline of both existing-account expansion and net-new customer acquisition
  • Develop a clear understanding of customer scientific needs, purchasing drivers, timelines, and budget considerations
  • Prepare quotes and proposals aligned to customer requirements
  • Follow up persistently and professionally to advance deals and close business
  • Match finalized quotes to purchase orders and ensure accurate handoff of commercial details
  • Maintain detailed and accurate activity records, opportunity stages, account notes, and forecasts in the CRM
  • Use CRM systems, LinkedIn, and sales tools as core lead generation and account management platforms
  • Provide timely responses to inbound inquiries and ongoing customer requests
  • Coordinate internally with relevant teams to support customer communication and order flow
  • Contribute to weekly forecasting, pipeline reviews, and sales activity reporting
  • Attend customer meetings, onsite visits, and industry events as needed


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree is mandatory in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, Biochemistry, or a closely related life sciences discipline
  • Minimum 1 year of B2B sales experience is mandatory
  • New graduates are welcome to apply provided they have at least 1 year of B2B sales experience
  • Strong scientific foundation with the ability to understand and discuss genomics, molecular biology, and sequencing-related applications
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect, qualify, manage, and advance opportunities through a sales funnel
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Highly organized with strong follow-up discipline and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a fully onsite office-based sales environment
  • Ability to use a CRM consistently and effectively as part of daily sales execution
  • Experience using LinkedIn and digital sales tools for prospecting and lead generation
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available


Preferred Qualifications


  • Knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and related omics applications
  • Familiarity with DNA-Seq, RNA-Seq, scRNA-Seq, or related genomics workflows
  • Prior exposure to technical, scientific, laboratory, or life sciences sales environments
  • Hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology, genomics, microbiology, or related fields
  • Experience supporting customers in research, biotech, diagnostics, or life sciences markets

Work Location
