Summary:
The Associate Counsel is responsible for providing legal support and advice to the hospital and its affiliates under the guidance of senior legal personnel. This position requires a well-rounded attorney who can manage diverse legal issues. This position reports to the Vice President, Senior Associate Counsel position.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct legal research and analysis to support various legal matters, including contract review, compliance and risk management issues and potential litigation.
2. Represent the hospital in administrative agency matters, including before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, and the Bureau of Workers Compensation, and in certain civil proceedings; assist outside counsel in litigation matters.
3. Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, drafts policies and procedures related to hospital operations and other legal matters, and provides on-demand legal advice and counsel for departments across the health system.
4. Collaborate with other departments such as human resources, finance, and medical staff to address legal issues.
5. Respond to subpoenas, information requests, and regulatory inquiries.
6. Provides support for special projects and matters as assigned by the Chief Legal Officer.

The Associate Life Solutions Specialist helps to ensure the financial security of our membership by assessing member life insurance needs, providing advice and / or referrals for advice, and making the appropriate recommendations based on members’ individual needs and goals. May provide support to Health Solutions acquisition and retention based on member demand.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 5 days per week, with the opportunity to move to a hybrid schedule after 6 months. This position will be based at the Tampa, FL. (Crosstown) Campus. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Receives request for advice from current and prospective members through various channels, including inbound and outbound phone calls, emails, faxes and video telephony. Special Acquisitions Team employees will primarily place outbound calls triggered from underwriting work items. Life Regulatory team employees respond to specific regulatory/business needs as directed by policies and procedures.
- Asks questions to discover key information, including life events, and to understand member needs. Documents relevant information. Life Regulatory team employees ask specific questions, often scripted, as needed to complete regulatory requirements and document relevant information.
- Assesses member financial situation and goals. Life Regulatory will refer members to Life Sales representative for advice and recommendations.
- Develops and communicates appropriate life insurance strategies based on individual member needs. Provides basic protection advice and strategies. Life Regulatory will refer members to Life Sales representative for advice and recommendations.
- Recommends relevant life insurance product and solutions and refers members who may need financial advice to the respective department. Life Regulatory will refer members to Life Sales representative for advice and recommendations.
- Motivates member to take action on recommendation(s) and resolves objections using basic sales techniques and developing persuasion skills. Implements recommendation(s).
- Monitors legislative initiatives that may impact economy, society, and personal financial situation.
- Educates membership on implications of economic, industry trends, and tax law changes, as well as USAA's products and services.
- May conduct outbound follow-up calls to complete member acquisition of products and services previously discussed.
Work Hours:
- Monday – Friday / 7:30am – 8:00pm (Central)
- An 8 hour shift will fall within these hours
- This role is required to be in office, with potential hybrid opportunity after 6 months.
What you have:
- High School diploma or GED
- Required maintenance of Life/Health license and/or acquisition within 90 days
- Required annual completion of AHIP and Broker/Carrier appointments when applicable.
- Up to 1 year of financial industry and/or life sales experience
- Experience delivering frequent written and oral communication
- Experience acquiring and applying new concepts and information
- Experience processing and analyzing information
- Experience fulfilling requests and meeting deadlines
- Experience resolving conflict and negotiating
- Experience multi-tasking in an operating systems environment
- Experience participating in a team environment
- Successful completion of a job-related assessment may be required
What sets you apart:
- Active Group 1 Life and Health license
- 1+ yrs experience working in Sales with life insurance or financial services products
- 1+ yrs experience working in a call center environment
- CLU® - Chartered Life Underwriter or comparable designation
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $45,470 - $76,730.

The Opportunity
What you'll do:
- Applies appropriate coverage and handles simple liability, evaluates, and settles high volume and low complexity auto claims with repairable vehicles.
- Resolves claims through proactive problem solving and decision making, within authority guidelines and under direct supervision, overcoming obstacles, and effectively prioritizing the workload.
- Clearly documents thought process including damage evaluation, investigation, negotiation, and settlement decisions.
- Collaborates and sets expectations with external and internal business partners to facilitate claims resolution.
- Supports members, business partners, and claimants, through use of varying communication channels to include utilization of digital tools to drive timely and effective resolutions through exceptional service.
- Acquires and applies a foundational knowledge of P&C insurance industry products, services, to include P&C insurance policy contracts, coverages and internal claims handling process and procedures.
- Applies basic knowledge of Auto Physical Damage. Supports workload surges and catastrophe (CAT) response operations as needed, including mandatory on-call dates and potential evening, weekend, and/or holiday work outside normal work hours.
- May be assigned CAT deployment travel with minimal notice during designated CATs.
- Works various types of claims, including ones of higher complexity, and may be assigned additional work outside normal duties as needed.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
- 1 year or more of military experience.
- Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within week 2 of training and 3 testing attempts.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task, including navigating through multiple business applications.
- Successful completion of a job-related assessment may be required.

Trains patients and care partners on self-care home hemodialysis (HHD) or peritoneal dialysis (PD) techniques, equipment use, infection control, and emergency procedures. Home Dialysis nurses will also conduct home visits to assess the environment and ensure safety and compliance. Home Dialysis nurses will also be required to take on call responsibilities for patient and care partner support during and after office hours, and on holidays. Performs the nursing process in a safe therapeutic manner in a designated clinical setting. Provides direct patient care (HHD/CAPD/CCPD) and monitoring of renal dialysis patients. Coordinates home dialysis activities within the frame work of the Federal Regulations, State and Local End Stage Renal Disease Network. Supports and adheres to University Health and department specific policies and standards. Receives mentoring from the Patient Care Coordinator and Director of Dialysis Services.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Registered nurse who has at least 2 years of experience as an RN, and six months experience in the specific home dialysis modality. BSN is highly preferred. Must meet career ladder Staff Nurse II criteria for specialty area worked. National Certification in Dialysis is preferred. Must have current American Heart Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Healthcare Provider card.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Must be a Registered Nurse currently licensed in the state of Texas.
Remote working/work at home options are available for this role.
Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients in the Ambulatory setting in accordance with University Health policies and standards. Supports and promotes University Health System values to ensure patient/guest relations. Performs the nursing process in a safe therapeutic manner in a designated clinic setting. Maintains, facilitates and promotes department policies and standards.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing is required. Starting pay varies based on experience; entry up to 2 years, 2-3 years and 4 years or more experience in health care delivery as an LVN. PALS and ACLS certification may be required based on site location.
LICENSURE
Must possess a current license to practice Vocational Nursing in the State of Texas. Must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card.
