  • Translates customer requirements into conceptual design by analyzing intended use/occupancy and desired aesthetics, conducting code research, developing preliminary design elements, determining interdisciplinary engineering support requirements, estimating resource costs/requirements, identifying materials, equipment, and services, and developing initial project schedule in order to establish project scope in response to customer requirements.
  • Plans, manages, and executes projects. Leads a team of stakeholders in the acquisition and modification of assets to enable the customer to achieve the defined business objectives in accordance with company and accounting policies.
  • Manages project expenditures within authorized budgets.
  • Creates, maintains, and communicates project management information.
  • Assists in the creation of contract scope.
  • Ensures suppliers comply with all contract obligations.

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

Automation Engineer II has the responsibility and skills to specify, develop, modify, test, troubleshoot, document, and deploy new or existing control system and related software for Ferrotec products, internal scientific research, and to support other goals. Assigned projects will have timeframes ranging from short tasks of a few hours to development efforts on the order of months. In addition, this role continuously assists customers with automation equipment and software issues, most-often remotely, and generally with limited or incomplete information. Collaboration with other team members will be frequent, but professional experience enables Automation Engineer II to be productive with greater independence.


WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Specify, develop, modify, test, troubleshoot, document, and deploy new or existing control system and related software for Ferrotec products, internal scientific research, and other company objectives.
  • Startup, troubleshoot, and repair existing, new, or upgraded control systems, including soft logic, human/machine interface, wiring, and hard logic. Mark-up schematics, if applicable; document problems and solutions to improve next startup cycle for self and others.
  • Perform engineering development activities in a manner consistent with established conventions, producing work products compliant with departmental standards and expectations.
  • Seek opportunities to add value to products or reduce recurring costs by advancing designs with new technology, improved processes, and procedures, or by other means in a cost-justified manner.

Job Overview

To better serve the global auto industry electric vehicle trend in the United States, CATL, through its U.S.-based subsidiary, CATK, is seeking multiple dedicated and experienced Production Quality Engineers to oversee the quality management and control of our production line processes. This role involves implementing quality assurance activities and executing the assigned quality assurance tasks.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Be responsible for quality management and control of the production line processes.
  2. Ensure all quality-related activities are performed effectively and in compliance with company standards and requirements.
  3. Monitor and manage quality activities including SPC (Statistical Process Control), FAI (First Article Inspection), MES (Manufacturing Execution System) inspection, FIFO (First In, First Out), error proofing, rework, and equipment qualification.
  4. Support various process audits, including process audits and LPA (Layered Process Audit) audits.
  5. Conduct quality risk identification and initiate quality improvement activities.
  6. Manage changes in the production process and ensure effective implementation of process response plans.
  7. Provide training and support to enhance the PQE technicians' overall competency.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
  2. 3+ years of experience in production quality control or quality assurance, particularly in the vehicle manufacturing industry.
  3. Strong knowledge of the basic principles of battery operations.
  4. Familiarity with the basic characteristics of communication faults and mechanical structure failure.
  5. Proficiency in product failure analysis methods.
  6. Proficient in using quality analysis and improvement tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), FTA (Fault Tree Analysis), 8D (8 Disciplines Problem Solving), Six Sigma, and SPC (Statistical Process Control).
  7. Strong data analysis and processing abilities.

  9. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
