Clinical Pediatric Geneticist – Clinical Faculty/Physician

The Department of Pediatrics and the Section of Pediatric Clinical Genetics at Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, invites applications for the position of  Clinical Pediatric Geneticist .

The Section provides clinical genetics services in the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago as well as outreach clinics in Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. Qualified candidates must have completed an approved clinical genetics fellowship program and be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric/Clinical Genetics and/or Metabolic Genetics by the American College of Medical Genetics and be willing and able to travel to the outreach clinics as needed. Candidates will be expected to participate in both inpatient and outpatient pediatric genetics services including direct patient care and supervision of medical students and residents. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to patient care, student and resident education, and clinical medicine. Candidates will be eligible for a faculty appointment in Rush Medical College at the level commensurate with their experience and accomplishments. Excellent clinical skills, teaching interest, and ability to work well with a small and motivated team are a must. The new pediatric geneticist will be joining one other experienced pediatric geneticist in a team that includes three pediatric genetic counselors and a genetic counseling assistant, among other colleagues.

The Rush University Children's Hospital (RUCH) is part of the Rush University Medical Center (RUMC). It is an academic medical center that has 110 pediatric beds. RUMC is a 671-bed hospital serving adults and children in downtown Chicago, Illinois. It includes the 58- adult bed Johnston R. Bowman Health Center, Rush University and Rush Health. Rush University is home to one of the first medical colleges in the Midwest and one of the nation’s top-ranked nursing colleges, as well as graduate programs in allied health, health systems management and biomedical research. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. The School of Interactive Computing () at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. Applicants will be considered at all ranks.

Beyond our hiring focus areas mentioned above, the 50+ faculty members of the School of Interactive Computing also pursue research on artificial intelligence and machine learning; human-centered computing and cognitive science; information visualization and visual analytics; learning science and technology, and computing education; robotics; computational journalism; ubiquitous and wearable computing; and virtual and augmented environments. Job Summary

Students will include medical students, house staff, nursing students, and allied health students. This individual will also be responsible for advancing clinical knowledge through his/her academic and scholarly efforts. In addition, the person in this position will have administrative responsibilities including advising and evaluating residents and students, providing medical direction for Hospital services, and participating in committee memberships at the departmental and Health System level.

Care commonly involves management of suicidal ideation, psychosis, mania, substance withdrawal, capacity evaluations, and medication/psychotherapy management.

Typical Clinical Volume

  • Inpatient: 6–12 patients daily

  • Consult-Liaison: 4–6 patients daily

  • Addiction consults: 3–4 patients daily

  • Crisis Stabilization Unit: ~3 patients daily

  • Outpatient: 1-hour new visits, 15–30-minute follow-ups

Academic & Faculty Role
