Job Summary:
Wellstar North Fulton Hospital has an opportunity for a Paramedic in the Emergency Department. Full-Time Evening shift
Reports to Manager of Emergency Department. The Emergency Department Paramedic is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders.
As an integral member of the Emergency Department team the Paramedic will support treatment in the hospital emergency department (ED). The paramedic will be required to assist with patient care treatment at the direction of the physician and/or the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) that directs plan of care, team goals, and performance. The paramedic shall cover the range of services provided in a medical treatment facility in accordance with O.C.G.A. 31-11-59 which outlines the services of paramedics in hospitals and defined hospital specific duties. In addition, the paramedic promotes and restores patients' health and the overall patient experience by collaborating with physicians, RNs, and multi-disciplinary team members, and providing support to patients, families and significant others. The ED Medical Director oversees the scope of practice of the paramedic in the ED in accordance with the Georgia Paramedic Scope of Practice and the Wellstar Paramedic Scope of Practice.
It is expected that all Emergency Department Paramedics possess a Georgia paramedic license and the national registry certification for paramedics. The paramedic must be knowledgeable and adhere to the scope of paramedic practices as outlined in the Georgia Department of Human Resources Division of Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services scope of practices. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Patient Care
- Assists medical and nursing staff with the care and treatment of Emergency patients
- Assists in the intake process by greeting and interviewing patients and inputting pertinent medical information into the computer system.
- Performs and assists nursing and medical staff in various diagnostic testing and procedures such as performing EKG, placing patients on the cardiac monitor, venipuncture, point of care testing, wound care, applying orthopedic devices and equipment, applying splints and casts and other duties assigned within the scope of practice.
- Perform functions as delegated by the RN such as: i. Initiate IV ii. Administer Oral, IM and some IV medications iii. Perform glucose monitoring iv. Perform ISTAT testing
- Transport patients to the ICU
- Transport and monitor critical patients
- Assist with patient flow in the ED
- Perform command center technician duties
- Perform monitor tech duties
- Receive EMS patients into the ED and begin to collect data to assist the RN in the initial triage and assessment of the patient
- Assist with education of the patient and family.
- Respond as assigned to Trauma Alert, Code Fast, STEMI Alerts Technician Duties
- Ensure that the rooms are patient ready
- Stock patient care rooms
- Clean in accordance with infection control policies rooms in between patients
- Transport patients as requested by the RN
Required Minimum Education:

Shift/hours/days – 11:00am- 11:00pm (12-hour shifts)

Position Summary: LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurses) are responsible for medications, treatments, and staff oversight under the direction of the RN. In this position you will bring trust, comfort, and empathy to all resident interactions and make a positive difference in the lives of our residents.

Clinical Competencies:
LPNs provide direct and indirect care under the direction of an RN including procedures, treatments, and related duties as assigned and within the NYS Scope of Practice for an LPN.
Resident support – Deliver compassionate, person-centered care while fostering a sense of dignity and independence for each resident.
Medication administration – Conduct daily medication pass with accuracy and care in accordance with physician orders and facility guidelines.
Shift leadership – provide leadership for the care team during your shift, including guidance and support.
Team collaboration – work closely with resident assistants, other nurses, and management in a cooperative, respectful environment.
Documentation – complete required documentation promptly and accurately to support resident care.
Consult with the RN on any changes in a care plan or schedule and communicate with patients and their families about their care plan.
Attends and actively participates in in-servicing, orienting and educational activities.
Education Requirements:
Must be a high school graduate.
Must graduate from a nursing education program acceptable to the New York State Education Department (NYSED).
Must be licensed with current registration in New York.
Must be able to:
Stand, walk, and lift for long periods of time
Read and write using medical terminology
Working knowledge of computers including electronic medication administration records, processing of orders, checking email, and preforming required inservicing, along with use of other required applications
Have the visual and auditory acuity adequate to perform observations and patient care
Maintain composure and positivity in a high stress environment

Position Purpose:
Our Physical Therapy Assistants, PTA, provide physical therapy services to Mt. Carmel patients under the guidance and supervision of a Physical Therapist and following a written plan of care established by the physician and physical therapist. Our PTAs assist in assessing our patients need for physical therapy devices and interventions and instructs our patients and their family members in the use and care of therapeutic appliances and devices, such as wheelchairs, braces, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from a two-year college-level program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Minimum of six months experience under a qualified Physical Therapist.
- Home health experience preferred.
- Must be able to function in a practice environment with minimal direct supervision, accepting personal responsibility for maintaining a professional relationship with the agencys clients and their families.
- Must accept responsibility for maintaining clinical practice skills learning and adhering to agencys policies and procedures on an on-going basis.
- Ability to consistently demonstrate commitment to the mission and Organizational Code of Ethics, and adhere to the Compliance Program.
Must have current Drivers license and reliable transportation to and from work site.
