How you'll contribute

A Registered Nurse (RN) who excels in this role:

  • Prioritizes and organizes delivery of nursing care; accepting a variety of assignments and consulting with other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Assists in staff development activities, including orienting, instructing and training others, emphasizing departmental, as well as interdepartmental cooperation and teamwork.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress and aids patients and families as needed in times of stress or crisis.
  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Ideal candidates will have prior or current Charge Nurse experience and varied background in acute care settings. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to residents. Collaborates with resident and family, other inter-disciplinary colleagues, including providers, to plan, implement and evaluate care. Provides adequate assistance and support to delegates to ensure safe, reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service concerns. Functions within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure. The Professional Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation of nursing care delivery and professional conduct.

Qualifications

Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.

Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

  • Actively participate in Universal Protocol and timeout to confirm patient identity, procedure, and surgical site
  • Handle and document specimens accurately to ensure diagnostic integrity
  • Provide post-surgical care coordination, including patient handoff to the recovery team
  • Assess, plan, and evaluate the nursing care of the patient before, during, and after a surgical procedure until patient handoff to the next phase of care
  • Ensure that sterile procedures are followed throughout the course of surgery
  • Respond effectively to emergencies, such as cardiac arrest, during surgery
