Job Summary
The College of Sciences (CoS) and the College of Engineering (CoE) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia invite applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions in the field of solar-terrestrial science and/or space weather. Applicants will be considered at all ranks, though there is a particular focus on the Assistant and Associate ranks. Areas of interest include but are not limited to the Earth's ionosphere and magnetosphere, space weather forecasting and resilience. Applicants with research interests in any or all of sensors and observations from ground or satellite instruments, data analysis and data science, modeling and theoretical research, are all welcome to apply. The position will be supported by the National Science Foundation under the Faculty Development in geoSpace Science program. This unique faculty search is being pursued by a joint effort of two Colleges, enabling candidates across a broad range of backgrounds to apply. The departmental home of the hired candidate will be determined based on best fit and may be anywhere within CoS or CoE. Candidates are expected to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students.
Responsibilities
Applicants conducting or proposing interdisciplinary work have a high potential for success in the position, in part due to the nature of this faculty search, and in part due to Georgia Tech's interdisciplinary culture. In addition to Georgia Tech's strength across many areas of science and engineering, Georgia Tech will soon launch an Interdisciplinary Research Institute covering many areas of space science, technology, and policy. The Institute will further energize the space research ecosystem at Georgia Tech with a major boost in institutional resources toward long-term support for community building, teaming to bring in major complex grants, expanding external collaborations, internal and external communications, distinguished speakers, infrastructure including core facilities, as well as the visibility to seek philanthropic funding. The successful candidate may also be able to collaborate with the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), GT's applied research wing.
The Colleges seek individuals with outstanding potential for research achievement and a strong aptitude and interest in undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring.
Candidates will primarily be considered at the ranks of Assistant and Associate Professor. Exceptional candidates may also be considered at the rank of full Professor.

About the School of History and Sociology at the Georgia Institute of Technology
The School of History and Sociology (HSOC) is a uniquely interdisciplinary unit with an intellectual culture of cross-pollination between sociological and historical scholarship, as well as work in science and technology studies. The School is united around a vision of scholarship and teaching that elucidates processes of local, national, and global change, past and present. This includes promoting a broader understanding of how racial, gender, and class inequalities intersect, as well as how technology, science, environment, and culture are intertwined. HSOC offers a Bachelor of Science degree in History, Technology, and Society and several joint undergraduate minors including Health, Medicine, and Society; Science, Technology, and Society; and Social Justice. At the graduate level, HSOC offers a master's degree in History and Sociology, and a doctoral degree in the History and Sociology of Technology and Science. The College of Computing (CoC) at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) invites applications and nominations for two inaugural Krishna A. Bharat Professorships in Computational Journalism, at its campus in Atlanta, Georgia. The Bharat Professorships will further research and innovation that focuses on information access in the public sphere, exploring responsible, civic-minded approaches to computational journalism and civic technologies broadly. The chair is endowed by Krishna Bharat, a Georgia Tech doctoral alumnus in computer science and the founder of Google News.
The scope of this search is not limited to journalism as conventionally defined. It may include candidates whose backgrounds span a variety of fields that inform civic life - including communication, public policy, political science, statistics, and law - who have the ability to teach and mentor a student body and to promote an inclusive and welcoming educational and work environment. Examples of research might include (but are in no way limited to) understanding the impact of algorithmic recommendations on political discourse; exploring how AI and machine learning can support new models of journalism with a positive societal impact; analysis of court records at scale to understand the impact of new laws on legal outcomes; addressing the spread of misinformation and disinformation in social networks; using algorithms or computer simulations to study gerrymandering; or the role of information visualization to investigate and communicate complex information.

The Senior Account Executive owns and facilitates the customer relationship. It shall be the Senior Account Executive’s function to generate sales of Direct to Owner Projects and Tenant improvements. and full mechanical services to new and existing customers. A Special project is a project that has construction duration usually less than 6 months, is less than a million in mechanical value, has an estimate prepared by the Senior Account Executive. The Senior Account Executive has at their disposal the engineering group for design-build projects. The Senior Account Executive will be expected to propose and estimate his/her projects
Responsibilities:
- Sales and Account Management for business opportunities for our life science, Biotech and Healthcare sector.
- Develop Strategic Account Plans to penetrate and grow our life science and biotech markets.
- Networking at industry events as appropriate
- Build partnering relationships with owners, owner’s reps, and consultants responsible for the decision-making process.
- Understand the life science and biotech customer's business, speak their language, and demonstrate technical expertise to develop credibility, loyalty, trust, and commitment from the customer.
- Have a deep life science and biotech technical knowledge and experience in the delivery of mechanical system operations.
- Develop sales strategies to maximize the opportunity within life science and biotech industries.
- Facilitate the technical interface between the customers and Hermanson's operations and engineering departments.
- Work with the engineering department to develop scope documents for purposes of estimating.
- Verify that customer design or modification requirements are met promptly and correctly.
- Reviews company engineering changes and ensures that they are in accordance with customer expectations and life science / biotech specifications.
- Potential expansion of our geographic footprint, supporting our strategic growth initiatives.
- Lead in project interviews and ongoing project delivery.
- Preconstruction and Project Management Oversight, which shall involve working closely with the Project Management and Field Teams to ensure a seamless project delivery. This may include the following, depending on specific project details:
- Establishment, Implementation, and Support of BIM and other technologies, and partners to support our future preconstruction efforts.
- Oversight of Field Staff (Superintendents, Site Foreman, Project Engineers, Etc) and construction projects from start to finish
- Oversight of Project Estimating, Planning, Budgeting, and Identification of Resources. Working in these capacities as necessary and appropriate depending on the team’s workload.
- Oversight of coordination of the efforts of all parties involved in a project, including owner-reps, architects, consultants, and general contractors.
- Contract and pricing revisions and negotiations with the client and project ownership
- Oversight of production scheduling and execution; ensuring the project meets the scheduling requirements.
- Periodic inspection of construction sites.
- Identify the elements of project design and construction likely to give rise to disputes and claims. Work with the Project Managers to carefully review these conditions with clients and teams.
- The salary range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000 plus variable sales incentive pay. (The compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience).
Qualifications:
- An expert at preconstruction, construction management, and mechanical / plumbing estimating with a focus on Life Science and Biotech mechanical systems.
- Sales/Customer (5+ years) and capable of expanding Hermanson’s expertise and relationships in life science and biotech markets
- Excel and Bluebeam proficiency preferred.
- The qualified candidate must have demonstrated the ability to analyze and perform pursue/no pursue and bid/no bid recommendations and develop pursuit strategies for new business opportunities. The position will also require previous experience in evaluation, competitive environment assessment, value-based pricing, price to win analyses and probability of winning. A proven track record of negotiation and closing high value contracts involving strategic business relationships. A candidate must have the following experience:
- Contract negotiation with GC executives, Owners, Sr. PMs, & key personnel
- Familiarity with Estimating, project management, engineering functions and practices
- Possess strong written and communication skills
- Ability to positively influence and persuade others
- A record of achievement in selling across market segments and to GC Accounts
- Is a disciplined, strategic thinker and can quickly develop a holistic view of Hermanson’s business, building and nurturing key relationships focusing on desired outcomes, creating competitive advantage for the whole company.

- This position is required to support field personnel and service our customers on projects. Founded in 1985 by combining the former School of Ceramic Engineering with the Metallurgy Program housed in the School of Chemical Engineering, MSE merged in 2010 with the School of Polymer, Textile and Fiber Engineering, established in 1897 as the Textile Engineering program, the third school at GT. The starting, full-time equivalent annual salary rate ranges from $79,887 - $128,194 , depending on experience. Appointments are typically made at 25% time for 2-unit courses, 33% time for 3-unit courses, and 42% time for 4-unit courses, for a period of 5 months. Position description
The School of Information at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a pool of part-time, non-tenure track lecturers to teach on-campus courses in the Master of Information Management and Systems. We seek exceptional instructors with professional and/or academic expertise who can teach courses for I School doctoral and master's level students and other UC Berkeley graduate students in related fields, as well as undergraduate courses. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending on the needs of the School.
Applicants will be selected from this pool for the academic year (including summer sessions), when there is curricular need.
