Provides primary health care and performs selective medical services under the direction of specialty physicians.

Responsible for diagnostic and therapeutic management of patients by completing medical histories, conducting physicals, establishing diagnosis through tests, and formulating treatment plans.

Provides follow-up and health maintenance care of patients in accordance with protocols approved by a physician.

Successful Completion of an educational program for physician assistants or surgeon assistants accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, or by that committee's predecessor or successor entities is required.

One year of training in the appropriate specialty is required.

Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is recommended.

Must be currently licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Texas.

Must maintain current AHA BLS or higher in accordance with Medical-Dental Staff and UMA bylaws.

Valid DEA number must be obtained within 90-days of hire.

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides comprehensive health care to a population that has multiple health care needs in the Detention Health Care setting of University Health.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Must have completed training in an ACGME-approved and accredited residency program. Completion of a residency program from the time of graduation from medical school, in excess of the traditional time period for the practice specialty, must be fully explained in writing. All incumbents will be expected to be board certified in their specialty or be eligible for board certification. Must obtain board certification in accordance with Medical-Dental Staff bylaws.

LICENSURE

Must possess a current license to practice medicine in the State of Texas. Must maintain current AHA BLS or higher in accordance with Medical-Dental Staff bylaws. Providers practicing in an acute care environment must obtain AHA ACLS certification or advanced specialty equivalent as defined by the CMA Credentials Committee within 90 days of hire. Must maintain DEA and DPS numbers. Must follow rules/regulations as set forth by the Texas Medical Board Medical Practice Act

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Performs successful recruiting, matching and placement of applicants to departmental vacancies so that qualified individuals and professionals are selected as University Health System employees.

Represents UH at designated recruiting functions.

Develop sources of qualified health care professionals.

Performs screening of candidates to ensure that all qualified prospective employees are referred for consideration to department supervisors for final approval.

Assists the Director of Recruitment and Employee Services in carrying out staff functions, projects, and event coordination.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in Nursing is required.

Four or more years of recruitment experience is preferred.

Comprehensive knowledge of employee interview techniques and applicable regulations is required.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION Current license from the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas to practice as a registered nurse is required.

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES Assumes the responsibilities of leadership in designated clinic setting to ensure efficient and appropriate administration of care.

Supports and maintains the University Health as well as the clinic's departmental policies and standards.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE BSN preferred, ADN required.

Experience in multiple areas of healthcare or specialty areas with at least 10 years of nursing experience.

American Heart Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Healthcare Provider card highly preferred.

Screens and identifies inmates who are mentally ill, have substance use issues, and/or may be at risk for suicide and make the appropriate referral for further assessment. Works as a therapeutic agent as a member of a multidisciplinary team to provide evaluation, treatment planning and service coordination for those in adult detention. Counsels and assists patients with personal and environmental difficulties which predispose illness or hinder the patient from receiving maximum benefits from medical care. Actively supports the policies and procedures of the University Health.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Master's degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education is required. One year post master's degree experience in a health care setting is preferred.
