Summary: This position supervising large clinical units.
Duties include ensuring that appropriate care and services are available to patients and families, ensures adequate and appropriate clinic staffing on each shift, supervision of nursing staff, medical support staff and utility aide staff, assistance with annual performance reviews of staff, participation in quality improvement initiatives to address identified patient safety or quality of care issues.
Provides and facilitates an environment conducive to staff continuing education needs, ongoing unit-based educational needs and orientation of staff members.
Responsibilities: 1.
Patient Care- Ensures that appropriate care and services are available to patients / clients and families.
Facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration in patient/client care planning.
Ensures appropriate clinical staffing and skill mix for patient care.
Supervises team of professionals /paraprofessionals which may include nursing staff, health unit coordinators, nursing assistants and utility aides.

Accreditation Issues- Ensures that internal and external regulatory standards or nursing practice are met or exceeded.
This includes organizational policy and procedures as well as state, Joint Commission, Board of Nursing and other specified accrediting bodies.
Integrate current scientific evidence with standards of practice.

Quality Improvement- Leads and participates in quality improvement initiatives that focus on identified patient safety or quality of care deficits.

Education- Creates an educational environment conducive to student learning, staff continuing education, and orientation of new staff members.
Accountable for annual competency evaluation of staff that ensures staff has the knowledge and skills to care for the specified patient population.

Other Information Other information: Education Requirements: ● Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from a state-accredited school of professional nursing.
Licensure/Certification Requirements: ● Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
● For positions at Magnet Hospitals, professional certification (ANCC Magnet approved) relevant to Management, Leadership or Clinical Area is required within the probationary period of employment.
● BLS required.
Professional Experience Requirements: ● Three (3) years of professional nursing in tertiary care and one (1) year of management experience in specialty area.

Flexibility start time from 7am-9am thru 3:30pm-5pm. This is a remote position however, candidate must live in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex due to occasional onsite meetings/trainings. This will be discussed more in the interview.
Experienced collector for Traditional Medicare with billing experience and EPIC knowledge a plus. Knowledge of the Medicare DDE system and able to navigate within that system. Experience correcting claims returned from the provider directly in the DDE system.
Job duties include:
- Analyze payer underpayments, variances, and denials. Escalate trends, make comprehensive suggestions, and file professional appeals according to our contractual agreements and UT Southwestern policy.
- Responsible for outbound calls and/or status inquiries via payer's website validating receipt of medical claims and adjudication status within established timeframes.
- Display competency and ability to work within client based, research, and UTSW special arrangements.
- Be knowledgeable on all payer types and effectively work on special projects for specific initiatives for account resolution projects.
- Make necessary adjustments as required by plan reimbursement.
- Function as a departmental liaison for billing and collections support for internal and external customers, as required.
- Utilize systems tools and department resources to achieve production and quality targets for resolution of patient accounts.
- Investigates and responds to questions or requests for additional information in a timely and professional manner to ensure proper, timely and accurate payment of patient accounts.

General Summary:
The Patient Services Specialist is responsible to create a positive patient experience by consistently exceeding expectations in customer service and patient care, by coordinating and completing patient registration activities that include but are not limited to greet and check in patients, verifying demographic information, obtaining signatures on patient consents, capturing insurance cards, verifying authorization accuracy, collect co-pays and past due balances, working reschedule and recall lists, and balance end of day deposits.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides high level customer service in all interactions with internal and external customers.
- Provides direct, professional, and knowledgeable interactions with patients, providers, referral sources, and the clinical team.
- Answers telephone calls accurately and with exceptional customer service and ensures the caller's needs are met and accurate information is obtained.
- Maintains patient confidentiality regarding access to patient and other clinical information via email, computer, fax, and mail.
- Addresses concerns of patients, provides service recovery, and escalates issues as needed.
- Utilizes the operational guidelines for scheduling patient appointments.
- Completes reminder calls to patient for scheduled appointments, as needed.
- Obtains payment from each patient, including copayments, balance due and appropriately receipts all monies collected.
- Verifies, ensures eligibility, and registers patients by obtaining patient demographics and third-party coverage(s) at every encounter.
- Advises patient on physician referral and provides appropriate notes/updates to referring physician, as needed.
- Prioritizes and completes all work in an accurate, effective, and efficient manner.
