General Summary of Position
Assists physician with routine to complex invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures such as cardiac catheterizations; cardiac and vascular percutaneous transluminal angioplasties structural heart and other interventional procedures. Performs a variety of related ancillary support activities and other duties as assigned.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists/scrubs in with physician during routine to complex invasive diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac and vascular procedures. Prepares catheters balloons guiding wires etc. to physician as needed.
- Prepares cleans and drapes appropriate site prior to invasive procedure ensuring a sterile field according to Association of Operating Room Nurse (AORN) standards.
- Enters required patient data into the computer connects electrocardiograph (EKG) and pulse oximeter monitors. Provides physical and psychological comfort to patients prior to during and post-procedure.
- Monitors electrocardiograph (ECG) blood pressure and other hemodynamic parameters during procedure in the Cardiac Catherization Laboratory (CCL).
- Assists with intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) other cardiac assist devices and sets-up/removes arterial and venous lines as needed in the CCL CCU and ICU. Draws arterial blood gases (ABG) as requested by physician. Performs activated coagulation time tests to determine appropriate arterial/venous sheaths removal. Accompanies and monitors patient during transports.
- Prepares/cleans arranges and stocks room/equipment for next procedure. Maintains and stocks inventory such as catheters defibrillators monitors and temporary pacemakers. Provides monitors/external pacemakers to various locations within the hospital.
- Document required data prior to during and post-procedure and enters appropriate codes/charges/equipment used into computer for statistical/billing reports.
- Discharges/transports patients from procedure room. Communicates/instructs patient regarding post procedure site care instructions and precautions as appropriate.
- Provides patient's family/significant others with information related to procedures according to departmental policy and procedures.
- Participates/responds to post-cardiac catheterization site bleeding hematomas pain loss of distal pulse etc. as appropriate and documents findings and resolution.
- Participates in the orientation training and inservices of other/new personnel as defined by CCL manager and departmental educator.
- Administers contrast at the direction of the physician while the physician is in the room directing the administration and dosage.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED including completion of a Cardiovascular Technologist training program and/or related college level education in basic sciences. required
Experience
- Experience in cardiovascular laboratory procedures particularly as relates to cardiac and vascular interventional procedures preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- RCIS - Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 1 Year required or
- R.T.(R)(CI) - Registered Technologist in Cardiac-Interventional Radiography within 1 Year required
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required

Primary Duties:

General Summary of Position
The Physical Therapist provides physical therapy services to patients to include but not limited to screening and evaluation treatment planning treatment implementation treatment re-assessment and revision patient/client re-evaluation discharge planning and documentation in a variety of settings. General Summary of Position
An RN Occ Health Manager is required to oversee and actively support the MedStar St. Mary's and MedStar Southern MD Hospitals OH Teams as needed, requiring travel. Given the nature of this role, the OH Manager will be expected to have a background with proven leadership skills that demonstrate the ability to be a change agent, lead projects, connect with hospital administration to build strong internal relationships, team/staff oversight, and develop process improvement to support the daily operations of the Occupational Health teams. This would include collaboration with other regional OH Hubs and OH Shared Services, and in support of the OH AVP. Coordinates the work activities and services provided by the clinical and administrative staff to assure efficient, effective, and safe patient care in the Occupational Health Department.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Ensures compliance with hospital/facility policies and procedures and governmental/accreditation regulations.

Organizes orientation programs and oversees continuing clinical education to ensure adequate preparation of staff to meet clinical practice and operational requirements.
- Develops plans recommends and helps implement wellness programs to improve the health and work-life balance of associates.
- Evaluates and follows MedStar OH protocol for fitness for duty. Makes appropriate referrals to physicians other health care providers and facilitates mandatory EAP referrals if indicated.

- Liaises with entities/departments to evaluate the safety of the workplace and collaborate with managers in injury prevention measures and departmental action planning.
- Oversees daily operations and facilitates the interdisciplinary and collaborative practice of clinical and support staff. Assists with the recruitment selection on-boarding and staff management. Coordinates and completes the performance evaluation process for all staff.

- Prepares and administers medications including vaccinations and tuberculosis testing according to department policy/procedure. Follows appropriate OH protocol for exposure type including appropriate labwork first aid and/or prophylaxis administration and informs of necessary exposure follow-up.
- Requisitions and interprets diagnostic laboratory and x-ray examinations when indicated. Counsels individual associates regarding exam findings abnormal lab and x-ray results appropriate follow-up any implications for personal health and the impact on job performance.
- Works with OH AVP and OH Shared Services to prepare and manage designated OH site budget effectively to ensure resources are available to support departmental goals and objectives. Collaborates with OH AVP and OH Shared Services to identify evaluate and implement plans to improve operations and clinical practice in the OH department in collaboration with the department director and medical director.

General Summary of Position
Provides professional nursing care for transplant patients following established standards and practices. Functions to advance the clinical mission and goals of the Department through collaborative relationships within the Medical Center. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs professional nursing service in inpatient/outpatient clinical settings including but not limited to: patient assessment teaching discharge planning and telephone triage.

Ensures the plan of care is comprehensive individualized age and disease appropriate plan for health promotion. Recommends evidenced based clinical and specialty care interventions as appropriate and within the CNS scope of practice.
- Acts as a patient and family advocate and facilitates patient transitions of care with an emphasis on quality safety and risk avoidance. Serves as a role model for ethical practice and a resource for patients and families nursing and other interdisciplinary care providers.
- Provides consultation services to staff nurses providers and the interdisciplinary care team members focusing on the patient's mental status mobility functional status self-care ability and home environment. Communicates consultative findings to appropriate team members. Identifies practice improvements based on data obtained through consultations and recommends resources needed to achieve expected care outcomes.
- Designs theoretical and evidence-based health education strategies appropriate to the patient and/or family developmental level health literacy level learning needs readiness to learn personal preference and technologic competency.
- Provides just-in-time teaching to nursing associates when appropriate. Participates in the orientation and mentoring of nurses interdisciplinary staff and/or advanced practice nurses.
- Facilitates the delivery of evidence based clinically competent nursing care to meet the goals of MedStar Health and the Department of Nursing. Supports the provision of nursing care utilizing the contemporary primary nursing care delivery model and the interdisciplinary model of care. Determines nursing practice and system interventions that promote patient and family safety.
- Participates in professional nursing through the MSH Nursing Collaborative Governance Councils and specialty professional organizations.
- Leads and/or participates in High-Reliability Organization (HRO) activities and quality improvement initiatives at the local and system level. Supports a healthy and safe work/practice environment.
- Designs and evaluates programs for effective implementation of MSH Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs). Searches for evaluates and interpret evidence when developing MSH CPGs and quality improvement initiatives. Analyzes research findings and other evidence for their potential application to clinical nursing practice.
- Uses data to assess the quality and effectiveness of clinical programs in meeting nurse-sensitive care outcomes. Assesses barriers facilitators and gaps in the adoption and integration of evidence-based practices and designs interventions to address identified improvement opportunities.
- Assists in the evaluation of technology products and supplies to support their safe and effective integration into nursing care delivery. Incorporates evidenced based practices products and technology into clinical policies and practice.
- Establishes collaborative relationships within and across departments that promote patient safety culturally competent care and clinical excellence. Collaborates with nursing practice leaders and other CNSs patient care managers professional development specialists nurse educators and unit-based champions to determine gaps in nursing practice. Uses leadership team building negotiation and conflict resolution skills to build partnerships among interdisciplinary team members.
- Participates in MSH Interdisciplinary Model of Care (IMOC) rounds to enhance communication and assist in planning implementing and evaluating care. Provides leadership for establishing improving and maintaining collaborative relationships to meet the clinical needs of patients families and communities.
- Facilitates decision-making regarding care and treatment options with patients and families and the interdisciplinary team. Uses coaching and advanced communication skills to facilitate the development of effective clinical teams.
- Uses the best available evidence to evaluate care delivery processes to improve patient safety efficiency reliability and quality. Evaluates innovative approaches to care delivery keeping in mind the needs of the assigned population. Disseminates expert knowledge and mentors nurses to translate research into practice.
- Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
Minimal Qualifications
Education
- Master's degree in nursing required
- Doctoral degree in Nursing Practice preferred
- Graduate of an accredited Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) academic program required
Experience
- 5-7 years' Experience as a Registered Nurse required
- 3-4 years' Experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist required
Licenses and Certifications
- APRN-BC - Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Board Certified in Maryland and/or the District of Columbia required
- APRNs practicing in the state of Maryland and/or the District of Columbia prior to the enactment of educational or certification requirements and holding grandfathered licensure will be considered.
- Awarding of APRN licensure will be at the discretion of the Maryland and/or District of Columbia state board(s) of nursing.
- National CNS certification appropriate to designated population (family-individual across the lifespan adult-gerontology pediatrics neonatal women's health/gender related or psychiatric/mental health) required
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required

- Maintains accurate records of work activities and compiles statistics.
- Maintains ongoing knowledge of research findings and changing technology and uses this knowledge to educate staff and patients. Consults with and educates physicians regarding wound care issues.
