Schedule: 4x10s, M-F, day off TBD; no nights/weekends/holidays/on-call

The Physician Assistant performs procedures in accordance with clinical privileges and/or the written collaborative agreement and within the specialty of the supervising physician. This role functions autonomously and collaborates with other health professionals to provide high quality, cost effective health care to patients, manage health care systems, and influence health care decision-making through expert clinical reasoning, research and theory-based practice.
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct care to patients which demonstrates clinical expertise and advanced knowledge.
- Diagnoses and manages acute and chronic health problems within specialty area of practice.
- Collaborates and consults with physicians and other health care professionals in area of clinical expertise.
- Develops educational systems and strategies for teaching patients, families and staff on topics related to area of expertise.
- Mentors graduate students in aspects of advanced practice.
- Actively participates in and/or conducts research pertinent to area of expertise.
Specific Performance Standards:
- 1. Clinical
- Conducts comprehensive appraisals of patients? health status by taking health histories and performing physical examinations in specialty area
- Provides primary prevention strategies and management of stable health problems
- Provides specialty care to assigned patients that may include both stable and unstable chronic health problems
- Establishes diagnoses for common short-term or chronic health conditions
- Prescribes medications, diet, supplies, prosthetic devices and other home health aides or medication according to clinical privileges
- Orders and Interprets appropriate laboratory tests, x-rays, electrocardiograms and diagnostic procedures specified in clinical privileges
- Evaluates patients to determine their need for further health care
- Teaches and counsels patients and families in preventive care, medical conditions, plan of care, anticipated outcomes, and the use of prescribed treatments and drugs
- Documents in the medical record all care provided and/or procedures performed
- Serves as consultant to other disciplines in areas of expertise

- Mentors staff to ensure quality of health care practices.

Qualifications
Required:
- Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Physician Assistant Programs

- Physician Assistant certification by a national certifying body as approved by the Illinois Department of Regulation
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association) certification
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required as specified by department
- Controlled substance license and DEA registration required as specified by the department
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a PA

The Plastic Surgery Division at Children?s Mercy Kansas City is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to work in our ambulatory specialty clinic as well as with the plastic surgeons in the OR for select cases. We seek candidates who are interested in providing comprehensive perioperative care to our patients, who communicate well, and embrace striving for the perfect patient and family experience. The plastic surgery and craniofacial multidisciplinary teams provide more procedures than other programs in the region, using a collaborative approach including specialists in nutrition, orthodontia, otorhinolaryngology, occupational therapy and genetics. Conditions treated in our program include a variety of congenital anomalies, cleft lip and palate, craniosynostosis, positional plagiocephaly, rare and complex syndromes, small jaws and airway obstruction, skull defects, and more.

Your Role
As an essential member of our clinical team, you?ll provide exceptional, patient-centered care while being part of a high-performing team committed to excellence.
What You?ll Do
- Conduct patient-centric and thorough history taking and physical examinations
- Craft patient-centric, evidence-based workups and treatment plans
- Treat adult patients (no pediatrics)
- Interpret x-rays, lab results and EKGs with supervising physician
- Triage and manage patient flow efficiently to minimize wait times
- Review and manage daily tasks, including patient callbacks regarding lab results, with assistance from our Central Support team
- Provide oversight and lead day-to-day operations for your team of medical assistants and support staff
- Consult supervising physician based on scope of practice and patient needs
- Manage a panel of patients towards evidence-based, quality targets
About You
- Medical/Master?s degree and certification
- PA - Valid state license to practice as a Physician Assistant and current national certification OR Valid state license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner and current national certification
- Maintain a controlled substance license along with an unrestricted DEA license
- Ability to consult and treat adult patients
- Experience in primary care or similar setting (minimum 1 year)
- Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times

Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for either an Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to work in our Radiation Oncology Department. This position will be primarily ambulatory/HOD.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities which may include diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems.
- Responsible for health outcome of an assigned patient population.
- Confers with collaborating physician and other health professionals in area of clinical expertise.
- Develops appropriate educational systems for patients, families and staff in areas of expertise.
- Mentors graduate students in aspects of advanced practice and patient care.
- Actively participates in quality improvement and/or research pertinent to area of expertise.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts comprehensive appraisals of patients' health status by taking health histories and performing physical examinations in clinical area.
- Provides direct clinical care to patients.
- Prescribes/orders medications, therapies; orders/interprets laboratory tests, x-rays and procedures according to clinical privileges.
- Evaluates patients to determine their need for further health care.
- Provides comprehensive teaching to patients and families.
- Documents in the medical record all care and education provided and/or procedures performed for which the Licensed Advanced Practice Provider is responsible.
- Refers to other disciplines as appropriate.
- Consultant to other disciplines in areas of expertise.
- Integrates research based knowledge and clinical expertise in decision making.
