The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of engineers and technical personnel who support the ongoing performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of existing manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers and technical staff responsible for supporting existing manufacturing operations.

Manufacturing & Production Support
- Serve as the primary engineering point-of-contact for manufacturing operations.

- Maintain accurate engineering definitions including bills of materials (BOMs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), drawings, and process specifications.

Quality & Root Cause Analysis
- Partner with the Quality team to investigate production or field failures.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support quality initiatives aimed at improving product reliability and manufacturing consistency.
Engineering Change Management
- Manage and oversee the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process from initiation through implementation.
- Ensure engineering and quality documentation remains accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate cross-functional communication during product or process changes.
Process Improvement & Lean Initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing and statistical problem-solving methodologies.
- Identify opportunities to improve assembly processes, reduce waste, and optimize workflow.
- Support preventative maintenance initiatives and long-term equipment reliability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with R&D, operations, supply chain, and customer support teams to support product lifecycle management.
- Assist supply chain teams with evaluation of alternate components or suppliers to mitigate supply risks.
- Ensure alignment between engineering initiatives and broader operational goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 10 years of engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership or management experience.
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations in a sustaining or production engineering capacity.
- Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and structured problem-solving methods.
- Experience with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks and the ability to interpret technical drawings.

Launch is actively seeking a visionary Solutions Architect / Principal Software Engineering Lead (AI) to design and deliver modern engineering and applied AI solutions across client engagements. This role blends deep hands‐on engineering, architectural leadership, AI system design, and client advisory. You will operate across system design, production‐grade engineering, multi‐agent architectures, cloud platform strategy, and the development of Launch's AI practice.
Responsibilities Include:
Architecture & Technical Strategy
- Define the technical direction for client engagements end-to-end: discovery, design, build, and production hardening.
- Assess client technology ecosystems and identify high-impact opportunities for AI/ML integration.
- Lead architecture reviews, design sessions, and technology selection across cross-functional stakeholder groups.
- Translate ambiguous business problems into concrete engineering plans with clear scope, milestones, and risk callouts.
AI Engineering & Delivery
- Architect production agentic systems including multi-agent orchestration, agent harnesses, skill/tool composition, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, and inter-agent communication protocols (e.g., A2A, MCP).
- Build and govern MCP server ecosystems: design, deploy, and secure Model Context Protocol integrations connecting AI agents to enterprise data sources, internal APIs, and third-party platforms.
- Define agent skill and capability frameworks including reusable skill libraries, prompt engineering standards, and evaluation harnesses for consistent agent behavior across engagements.
- Architect RAG pipelines, fine-tuning workflows, and model lifecycle infrastructure (training, serving, experiment tracking) as foundational components of agentic systems.
- Integrate AI platforms and APIs (Azure OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, Anthropic, Vertex AI) into production systems with enterprise-grade reliability, cost governance, and observability.
- Establish AI-native development practices: embed tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot into team workflows with standards for AI-assisted code review, test generation, and documentation.
- Design evaluation and observability infrastructure including LLM eval frameworks, red-teaming, behavioral drift detection, and production monitoring across tool call chains, latency, and failure modes.
- Apply responsible AI governance: define guardrails, access controls, and audit patterns for agentic workflows in enterprise environments including scope containment and escalation paths.
Hands-On Engineering
- Write production code and lead by example — this role requires someone who is still close to the code.
- Design cloud-native architectures across multiple hyperscalers (AWS and Azure primarily) microservices, event-driven systems, serverless, and containerized workloads.
- Define and implement infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, or Bicep.
- Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and container orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Establish observability and reliability practices using tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or Azure Monitor.

You will work alongside motivated engineers who are responsible for conducting systems engineering studies and trades; supporting system requirements definition and analysis; and contributing to algorithm development, integration, test, and evaluation.
What You Will Do
Provide technical oversight and management for a variety of Systems Engineering efforts
Concept and requirements development (including decomposition and flowdown) within a mature product-line
Concept of Operations (CONOPS) development and design
Algorithm optimization and development
Multi-disciplinary development efforts across the kill-chain for an Air and Missile Defense System
Collaboration with customer to bring new capabilities to the warfighter
Functional analysis of real world and test data; trade studies to bring advanced features to fielded system
Support and lead Internal and External Program and Design Reviews
Collaborate with other IPT/CPT leads from the various functions and products
Support and lead Internal Research and Development for future capability upgrades
System integration and test support, including live fire test events
Periods of travel up to 25% of time both domestically and internationally
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
Experience with Air Defense Systems in systems engineering roles supporting development or production
Experience with managing budget, scope and/or earned value
