Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking Mission Systems Integration Engineer in Berkeley, MO, supporting a Phantom Works Fixed Wing Proprietary Program. You will be joining a fast-paced Phantom Works program where you will be responsible for developing and integrating complex, highly integrated, Sensor Systems, Communications Systems, and Weapon Systems. Our team focuses on high‑reliability, real‑time systems that integrate IR, RF, and offboard data to enable safe, decisive mission outcomes.

We are seeking a Mission Systems Integration Engineer with strong expertise in model-based systems engineering, requirements, and functional decomposition. This role will collaborate with sensor, software, and systems engineering teams to deliver operationally relevant fused tracks and sensor products.

The day-to-day activities of this position will be a combination of traditional design engineering, collaborating with cross-functional peers, and presenting technical challenges and solutions to leadership. Frequent interaction with program leadership, customers, and industry partners during critical design phases will be key elements of this position. This position will provide the candidate an opportunity to develop their engineering skills with potential growth into a leadership role.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop MSOSA models for mission system components, interfaces, behaviors, and requirements decomposition

  • Work with software and hardware teams to integrate capabilities onto the system

  • Define requirements for software and hardware components

  • Develop MBSE activity diagrams and sequence diagrams to represent system functionality

  • Document design decisions, validation results, and provide technical input for safety, certification, and compliance artifacts

  • Decompose system level requirements into subsystem and component level requirements

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 5+ years of related work experience and a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related work experience and technical education

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Experience working in Cameo, or similar Model Based Systems Engineering tools.

  • Experience with integration of DoD tactical platforms sensors and subsystems.

  • Experience developing requirements and applicable traceability from the weapon system down to subsystems.

  • Experience with avionics integration testing, analysis tools (e.g. Matlab or others), and flight test.

In addition, this position will be responsible for the following:

  • Completes increasingly complex mechanical and field construction activities.
  • Develops budgetary M/E estimates, based upon program and schematic design information.
  • Reviews mechanical options, completes systems analysis, recommends best system for the project and provides value engineering suggestions.
  • Coordinates the mechanical and electrical scopes of work during the bid process.
  • Develops sequencing requirements of various systems and provides solutions to meet the schedule requirements. Provides scheduling input during projects.
  • Reviews design documents and identifies potential quality problems. Helps develop quality control programs.
  • Performs job inspections at various times in the project to ensure specifications and expectations are met and work is completed in a quality manner.
  • Develops pre-functional checklists and functional testing procedures. Verifies contractor’s performance of functional test.
  • Reviews and approves shop drawings prior to submitting to design team.
  • Generates and issues the Commissioning Plan for approval to the appropriate parties.
  • Verifies deficiencies are corrected and submits commissioning documentation to owners.
  • Provides mentoring to less experienced co-workers.
  • Creates M/E tools and innovative solutions to continuously improve processes and work products.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Communication skills, verbal and written (Intermediate).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Intermediate).
  • Ability to read and understand plans, drawings and specifications.
  • Develops proficiency in basic JE Dunn construction M/E tools and software.
  • Knowledge of means and methods of construction management.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering or related field (Required).
  • In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

EXPERIENCE

  • 5+ years construction and/or engineering experience (Preferred).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Valid and unrestricted drivers license required
