About the Role:

Refactor Games is a AAA sports video game studio. We are developing the next generation of professional football (soccer) video games using Unreal Engine 5.

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Game Designer to design, implement, and iterate core game systems that define how our AAA European football video game feels, behaves, and engages players — across gameplay, modes, progression, and meta structures. You’ll work hands-on within Unreal Engine (Blueprints and scripting) to prototype, tune, and ship systems while bridging the gap between creative design vision and engineering execution.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with designers, engineers, animators, UX, and production to ensure our football systems, from player mechanics to match-level logic, are robust, reusable, well-documented, and optimized for performance.

Experience:

• 3+ years of professional game design or technical design experience.
• Including work on at least one shipped title (AAA or high-quality).

What You'll Work On:

• Implement gameplay systems using Unreal Engine Blueprints and gameplay scripting, ensuring fidelity, performance, and scalability across content.
• Prototype new systems and features rapidly in editor and iterate based on feedback from design reviews and playtests.
• Collaborate with engineering to define architecture, data flow, and scripting standards for game systems.
• Tune system behavior for balance, player experience, and performance, using telemetry and designer instinct.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams (AI, animation, UX, economy, live ops) to ensure game systems integrate cleanly across features.
• Write clear documentation including design specs, variable definitions, use cases, and technical expectations.
• Debug gameplay logic and support QA in identifying issues, performance bottlenecks, and systemic edge cases.
• Support ongoing game content updates, seasonal content pipelines, and live tuning processes.

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 5 workflows, including Blueprints and gameplay scripting.
• Strong understanding of gameplay systems design, including mechanics, progression logic, and modular systems.
• Ability to implement, test, and optimize systems in engine with iterative prototyping.
• Ability to work collaboratively with programmers and other designers to deliver system features.

In your role as an internal tool developer, you will develop applications, infrastructure, and tools used by engineering to capture product requirements and interface definitions, model the product architecture and design, and reduce and analyze flight and lab test data. You will work with other teams and stakeholders to establish technical and UX design requirements for these projects and own the "plan, code, build, test, release, deploy" lifecycle of these applications and services.

Position Summary:

The Structural Department Manager is responsible for leading and managing the daily operations of the Structural, Pipe, and Labor Departments in support of ship repair, maintenance, and modernization projects. This role ensures all work is performed safely, efficiently, within budget, and to the highest quality standards in accordance with applicable specifications and regulatory requirements.

The Structural Department Manager is responsible for setting the tone and culture of the department, ensuring full alignment with company expectations and strategic objectives. This role requires proactive leadership, accountability, and a strong commitment to organizational priorities. Department Managers are expected to champion company initiatives and directives from senior leadership, clearly communicating and reinforcing them within their teams as unified, department-level guidance.

The manager oversees a broad scope of production activities, including structural steel fabrication and repairs, hull modifications, deck and bulkhead work, piping system installation and testing, and general labor support services. Responsibilities include coordinating structural welders, fitters, pipefitters, laborers, and support crews to meet production goals and project schedules.

This position requires strong knowledge of shipboard structures, welding and pipefitting techniques, material handling, and staging. The Structural Department Manager works closely with project teams, planning, and other production departments to integrate efforts across trades, resolve technical and logistical challenges, and ensure customer satisfaction. • Oversee hot work operations, ensuring proper permitting, fire watch assignments, and strict adherence to safety procedures related to welding, burning, and grinding activities aboard vessels and in yard facilities.
• Lead coordination efforts between departments, subcontractors, and project management teams to resolve production and technical issues that may impact critical path work.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and customer-specific safety and environmental requirements, including confined space entry, fall protection, and hazard communication standards.

Education/Training and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
• Experience with US Navy Ship repair/NAVSEA regulation is preferred.
• Associates degree in Industrial Trades/Applied Science is preferred.
• Proficient with Word and Excel.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in shipyard heavy industry is required.
• Extensive knowledge of ship repair processes.
• Knowledge of managing Federal Contracts.
• Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Interpersonal skills, good attitude, and exceptional work ethic.
• Work requires establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Strong technical background.
• Ability to write effectively and the ability to accurately communicate with all PSI employees.
• Ability to access, interpret, and apply government and industry standards, law, and corporate policy and procedures to aid in the management of the Mechanical Department.
• Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software
• Ability to effectively operate standard office equipment
• Good attitude; must be a team player.
• Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of shift
• Must be flexible in work hours
• Valid State of Hawaii REAL ID-Compliant Drivers’ License in good standing, Class 3 or higher or a valid U.S. Passport in addition to a valid Hawaii Driver’s License, if you do not have a REAL ID-Compliant Driver’s License.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

• Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
• This position requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
• Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
• Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience
• Ability to read, understand, and steel drawings
• Knowledge of industry standards (ISA, ASME, NEC, PIP, etc.)
• Experience utilizing AutoDesk Advance Steel
• Experience with Microsoft Office

• Ability to work effectively independently and as a team member
• Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and Navisworks
• Experience with Modular Design
• Experience with Fabrication shops
• High School diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities:

• Generate designs and detail drawings to support discipline leads, including but not limited to: structural layouts, structural details, assembly drawings, site layouts
• Generate DSTV/NC1 files and review them for accuracy prior to submittal to fabrication shops
• Revise changes with designs as required
• Review and provide input to other disciplines of design for overall project goals
• Review and redline work of third-party contractors for accuracy and consistency
• Implement work from third party contractors into existing models and layouts
• Perform walk downs of steel work at various shops
