We are seeking an engineer or scientist to design, build, and analyze complex hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL or HIL) testbeds for evaluating critical defense systems, including GNSS receivers, integrated navigation systems, and external inputs such as IMU, air data sensors, and radar altimeters. You will collaborate with a team focused on requirements development, performance evaluations, and independent verification and validation of standalone and integrated navigation hardware under challenging signal conditions. If you have previous experience working with a HIL systems you'll be a great fit for this position!

 

As a member of the GNSS/Navigation Systems Engineering Section you will...

  • Collaborate with a team of engineers to integrate, test and evaluate GNSS receiver and navigation hardware systems in APL test facilities, at field test sites, and external ground test facilities.
  • Lead Systems Engineering technical tasks such as systems level analysis, trade studies, analysis of alternatives, proposals and conceptual development for current and future US military PVAT systems.
  • Develop formal communications which are presented to project, program, and external sponsors as needed.
  • Explore performance improvements through experimentation and prototyping.
  • Collaboratively develop PVAT test plans and roadmaps, including the identification and development of capabilities needed to evaluate PVAT systems.

Qualifications

You meet our qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or another related technical field
  • Have 10 or more years of RF Engineering experience.
  • Have RF hardware integration and evaluation experience, preferably in a HiL environment.
  • Are familiar with one or more of the following: navigation principles, inertial navigation, aided navigation, Kalman filters, GNSS receivers.
  • Familiar with one or more of: C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, or real-time control software architectures.
  • Have experience using RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, waveform generators, oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, or RF recorders
  • Have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated success while working within a team environment.
  • Have experience leading technical teams.
  • Have the ability to travel up to 20% of the time, as needed.
  • Hold an active Interim Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

Benefits:

Associates that are considered full-time hourly or commission/incentive eligible:

Information Professional Officers (IPOs) oversee the seamless operation of the global Naval network environment. Their responsibilities include:

  • Building professional excellence through education, training and certification and milestone qualifications

For annual training, Information Professional Officers may serve anywhere in the world, whether on a ship at sea or at bases and installations on shore.
