About the Role
A well-established leader in the precast concrete and structural engineering space is seeking a Structural Engineer to join its growing engineering team in Florida. This role focuses on the cost-efficient design of precast concrete systems, components, and connections, supporting complex construction projects across sectors such as data centres, parking structures, multifamily, industrial, education, and commercial buildings. You will take ownership of engineering design activities from concept through erection, collaborating closely with project managers, drafters, production teams, and fellow engineers to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for a PE-licensed engineer with strong precast or structural experience who enjoys both independent responsibility and team-based project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design
- Perform structural engineering calculations and detailed designs for precast systems and connections
- Independently manage engineering design aspects of assigned projects
- Review contract documents to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Resolve engineering design issues efficiently and independently
- Assist other engineers in solving complex design challenges
Reviews & Quality Control
- Review and check engineering calculations and details prepared by internal teams and external consultants
- Review erection drawings, shop tickets, and master shop drawings for accuracy and compliance
- Evaluate design costs against project estimates and recommend corrective actions
Project Coordination
- Attend and participate in project meetings; lead coordination meetings when required
- Write and review RFIs
- Coordinate closely with drafting/modeling, production, and construction teams
Production & Field Exposure
- Maintain awareness of production processes through regular plant visits
- Complete repair designs and details as required
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and engineering best practices
Licensing & Compliance
- Obtain licensure in additional states as required
- Review and stamp erection drawings, calculations, and repair details when assigned
What We’re Looking For
- 3–7 years of relevant structural engineering experience
- Precast concrete experience strongly preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- BS in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- Proactive, self-motivated, and dependable
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with exposure to manufacturing and production environments
- PPE required when working in plant areas
- Standard business hours with flexibility during training or production integration
