The School of Information at the University of California, Berkeley, invites applications for a pool of part-time, non-tenure track lecturers to teach online courses in the Master of Information and Data Science (MIDS) program. We seek exceptional instructors with professional and/or academic expertise who can lead small, highly interactive sections of around 17 graduate students in this innovative, online program.

Courses in the MIDS program are pre-designed and structured, allowing instructors to focus on delivering dynamic and engaging learning experiences while providing valuable expertise to enhance student outcomes. Position Responsibilities:

• Leads the design, development, tests, and maintenance of embedded software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards
• Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into initial design of software products. Develops, maintains, enhances and optimizes software products and functionalities for systems integrations
• Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products
• Debugs and leads resolution of issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products. Handles user inquiries, troubleshoots technical issues and user feedback analysis
• Leads handling of user inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues and user feedback analysis.
• Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development
• Develops, establishes, monitors and improves software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks
• Plans, executes and documents, software research and development projects

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

• 4+ years' experience with hands on experience writing C++ software for integration with real-time embedded systems
• 4+ years' experience with Vehicle Health Management experience
• 4+ years' experience of training, mentoring, advising junior software engineers across entire lifecycle of software development
• 4+ years' experience working on a project where various software development methodologies are being utilized
• Demonstrated expertise leading complex projects across multiple teams of engineers.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
• Familiarity with implementation and requirements of Vehicle Health Management areas such as Built in Test, Power Control, Maintenance Codes, Erase, Loading

This involves designing, and delivering age, grade, and achievement level student-centered curricula for a particular content area within the format and time parameters of a specific course, and whose teaching philosophy is aligned with ATDP's mission and Learner Outcomes.

ATDP unites teachers who love to teach with students who want to learn. We are in constant search of qualified, temporary, part-time, high-energy, passionate, and creative instructors, co-instructors, and instructional associates (IAs) for our summer courses. While each summer's faculty cohort is generally assembled by late winter, specific openings may remain unfilled, and we will keep promising candidates in mind for future summers.

The Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Postdoc in the Bouchard Lab, in the area of theoretical neuroscience. The Bouchard lab at UC Berkeley is an interdisciplinary team that focuses on understanding how distributed neural circuits give rise to coordinated behaviors and perceptions. There will be collaboration with the lab members at LBNL. We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to work at the interface of control theory, information theory, dynamical systems, statistical machine learning, and neural time-series data. The goal is to better understand principles and mechanisms underlying distributed brain network computations through the dual lenses of control theory and information theory. This position will focus on developing and applying theory, models, and methods that provide principled understanding of simultaneous multi-region, high-dimensional neural population dynamics from diverse brain areas.

The position is located at UC Berkeley (UCB), in collaboration with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), and is part of a broader collaborative effort between UCSF, LBNL, UCB, and UC Davis. The Advanced BioImaging Center (ABC) in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Professional Researcher at the Assistant, Associate, or Full rank. The position will report to Professor Gokul Upadhyayula, with Professor Eric Betzig serving as an additional academic mentor. The Advanced BioImaging Center (ABC) at UC Berkeley aspires to be a world-leading multidisciplinary imaging center that drives important biological discoveries through critical new advances in all aspects of imaging technology and that drives the dissemination of that technology through a multi-pronged education strategy to scientists around the world. ABC was intentionally designed to maximize scientific productivity and impact by adopting groundbreaking imaging technologies such as the next-generation adaptive optical multifunctional microscope, incorporating the high-level technical expertise of instrumentation scientists, applied mathematicians, and computational scientists, and building worldwide collaborations aimed at tackling the challenges posed by terabyte and petabyte-scale imaging data processing, visualization, and dissemination. Members of the ABC have access to leading - edge imaging and computing hardware, as well as exposure to collaborators from a range of diverse disciplines, including in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, and more.

This position will focus on advanced, independent research leading the ABC computational team to develop vision-transformer-based foundation machine learning models. The Researcher will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of optical physicists, engineers, and computational imaging researchers to achieve the ambitious goal of creating a generative AI model for segmenting and querying complex 4D high-resolution data of zebrafish development. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to advancing biological imaging and AI-driven data analysis at the intersection of biology and computational science.

As this project grows, the individual will be expected to expand their leadership and adapt to the evolving scope of the research. The role will begin with leading efforts to supervise data collection and management, model development, and collaborating with leadership across the center. The researcher will build and manage a team of data scientists, and computational biologists to test AI-driven imaging models and will facilitate scientific collaborations with local, domestic, and international researchers. This position will take on a growing role and contribute to a groundbreaking initiative in biological imaging.

Key Responsibilities:

*Conduct and design independent research and lead a team of data scientists and software engineers to enable the development of state-of-the-art AI models for light sheet microscopy data.

Job Overview

SAVI EHS is seeking an experienced Scaffolding Safety Inspector/ Competent Person to support active construction projects on behalf of Turner Construction Company in Berkeley, California.

This role will provide independent, third-party safety oversight focused on post-erection scaffold assessments and recurring monthly compliance evaluations. The consultant will work closely with project leadership, trade partners, and scaffold contractors to verify structural integrity, regulatory compliance, and safe use throughout the scaffold lifecycle.

This is a project-based consulting opportunity ideal for safety professionals with strong scaffold competency and commercial construction experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform initial post-erection scaffold assessments following contractor certification.
• Conduct recurring monthly scaffold compliance inspections.
• Verify scaffold erection under competent person supervision.
• Inspect structural components, decking, bracing, and foundations.
• Evaluate guardrail systems and fall protection integration.
• Review access/egress systems including ladders and stair towers.
• Confirm tie-ins, stabilization, and load rating postings.
